Is nobody else seeing this? It's URMIAY. There's quite clearly no star on the green A.
It's "URMIAY" reversed "YAIMRU". Put a bit of spacing "YA I M R U"
Except the article says its URMAIAY. Reversed, YA I AM R U. Count the letters. There are only 6, not 7.

Thats briliant. Good to see some people still have a sense of humour about these kind of things. :)

I remember in the early to mid 90's, there was some German translator working for Nintendo fucking around with some of the less important NPCs, such as this blob from Link's Awakening, which he obviously thought was looking like a penis. Talking to it, it would respond with stuff like "Don't forget the rubber", "Give it to me and I'll give it to you...".
Also, there was a mermaid in the game looking for her necklace in the original version, in the German version she lost her bra (wtf?)

It was very confusing.

Looking at this art [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/images/view/65118] for Super Mario Galaxy 2, the shine marks notate "U R M A I A Y."
Well, I'm a farsighted person, but my computer isn't far from me. I can't see where the spark is on the A between M and I. There is no spark on it.

But otherwise, it's amusing. I don't own a Wii, and I've only played the first Galaxy for about 15 minutes, but these kind of discoveries are fun.

I'd say the first one was just a coincidence, but this one too? That's just too easy to not be intentional.

you know what shocks me most about this? the amount of people who obviously believe this is actually more than just a coincidence...

I... don't see anything. I think that this is just someone looking for a controversy...

You're very correct. But it doesn't really matter as the "M" can represent "AM" quite adequately anyway. I'd say its just a typo due to perhaps trying to think of the phrase backwards as opposed to just working off of the cover.

The first one I wrote off as a coincidence, this time... ehhh... Yes you could be right, but considering the most manipulation that's required is reversing the order of the letters (ie. you don't have to scramble them or anything) it seems a little too coincidental. Also the way it seemingly responds to the previous "message" kinda points towards someone playing funny buggers.

The thing that has me wondering though, is the fact that Mario is a Japanese game. Now unless the Japanese print their game boxes in English, they couldn't possibly have this.
So do they have sparkles on any of their hiragana/katakana/kanji?
Does it spell anything?
Is this a bit of a joke enacted by the designer for the English covers?
Does he have the blessings of Nintendo?
If not, did they check to make sure he didn't pull the same stunt twice?
If so... how did they miss this?
etc.

Eh, whatever. I found the message to be funny, but still, the box art does look pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to playing with Yoshi! :D

When I can find my jaw (it fell off and rolled under the desk) I'll think of something to say.

WOw, thats pretty useless trivia. Interesting, a bit funny, but useless.
