"Na, I'll be fine... I just need to rest a while..." She put her hand to her aching head, she didn't know exactly why but her head had started hurting just after she'd brought the vehicle into existence, as if it just being there weighed heavily on her mind. Maybe the overuse of powers was getting to her...
"Cat-man-thing, take over the steering!" Ryan yelled as the new vehicle came to life. There was a burst of heavy gunfire from one of the nearby helicopters, and Ryan threw up a shield just in time to catch the barrage of bullets. The pilot continued to fire as he drew closer, and for a moment Ryan was worried that he wouldn't lay off, but when he eventually did pause, he snatched the opportunity and quickly opened a hole for Amy to fire through.
"Just take us out over the bay, try and get as far away from the city as possible!" he said to the catman, as the helicopter spiraled downward, the inhabitants of it's cockpit fried. "There should be some woodland just down the coast a ways, once we shake these guys then we'll land there." He cocked his head to the side as a faint wooshing sound met his ears, then cursed as he spied four distinctive trails cutting at a break-neck speed through the sky towards them. "Missiles incoming!"
Amy turned, looking to the four missile whizzing through the air, aimed for their aircraft. Gritting her teeth, she fired two simultaneous blasts- one narrowly missed, the other brushing along the side of one missing, the heart from the beam causing it to ignite and explode. She continued to fire, though they advanced far too quickly.
It took four more shots to down two more missiles, though the last seemed to outmanoeuvre her at every turn. Nearer and nearer it soared, emitting a high-pitched sound, before a final, larger beam hit it head-on. Unfortunately, it had narrowed the space between it and them too greatly, and the blast caused the aircraft to rock, tilting upward precariously.
Both from the recoil of her shot and the wave of the blast, Amy fell backward, and began to slide down the platform of their makeshift carrier. Screaming, she reached out, finding no grip. She reached the edge and, as the aircraft stabilized itself, she managed to grab the very end of the platform, swinging dangerously over the ground below.
I'm watching National Treasure at the moment, so I felt that hanging scene was necessary. :]
Dark Mist continued down the assortment of alley's ways in tunnels in the facility, dragging the corpse kept in suspension by the hooked tentacles with It. The sound of explosions and gun fire were getting louder and the energy signal was getting much stronger. Withing a minute of mindless wandering and killing it arrived at the rood the facility, Dark Mist looked down to see soldiers with heavy weaponry firing at a vehicle in the distance.
"If anyone is going to kill those super's it should be me, why should the normal's get to take the pleasure that is rightfully mine?" As it spoke the tentacles retreated back into his body, dropping the bodies of those he had held hit the ground with a thud. A few soldiers turned to see the demonic figure standing about them, the eye in the figure's chest staring into their very souls. "Sometimes the night is kind to me."
The mercenaries opened fire, letting loose a fury of 5.56 ammunition at Dark Mist. The figure stood unflinchingly as the bullets passed through it's face and body, tearing apart the smoke. After the ammunition ran out Dark Mist gave a small sigh as the mist reformed, healing the bloodied face. The right arm of Dark Mist shot out, turning into multiple blades that flew through the air. The soldiers that were hit stood still for a moment, then blood seeped from every imaginable angle and they fell into small chunks. "Delicious, some many bloody piece's!"
Well, long post this time. I guess this is what happens when i can't post cause i'm at work XD.
Everything was happening too fast and Kris was concentrating on just one thing, keeping the platform moving. When Cathy created wings for the platform, Kris found that he could use less force and the plane would keep going at a high speed. But soon after that, he heard Ryan shout about missiles. Kris couldn't do anything, he was putting his all into making this thing move forward, trying to outpace the military vehicles about them. He saw, out of the corner of his eye, Amy blast away at the missiles and then the world went crazy.
Kris was already standing close to the back edge of the platform, so when the blast of the last missile made the whole thing tilt upward, it didn't take much to make Kris lose his footing. He slid only a few inches and fell over the edge as the platform regained stability.
As he fell over the edge, he looked upwards to see Amy hanging from the edge of the platform, which had slowed down considerably without Kris to push it along. All Kris could hear was the rushing of wind, sky diving wasn't as fun without the parachute.
Flying had never been his thing. Kris tried it once he found out he could jump higher with the use of hi power. It just required too much energy. One thing he recently discovered he could do though was create shockwaves. He didn't really think about it too much, his body just reacted on its own. He created a strong shockwave that managed to push him all the way back up towards the platform. As he neared it, he started to make himself slow down enough to try and grab Amy to save her from a certain fall. He was able to wrap his arms around her waist and keep moving upwards. The while thing wasn't gentle, grabbing her slowed him down considerably but the loss in speed made it easier for them to land back on the moving platform.
When both their feet were firmly in place on the platform, Kris breathed heavily."Sorry about the bumpy ride, was the best way i could help you out from down there."He grinned and let go of her."Now i need to get back to this. Just try and fry those explosives BEFORE they get too close."He winked at her and started pushing the platform again, it took him more strain after what he had just done but now he kept a good distance from the edge of the platform
Amy nodded weakly, her face pale. "Yeah, yeah," she replied, looking back to the skies for enemies. Helicopters still surrounded them- at least four- though they seemed more hesitant to approach.
"Unless we can lose them somehow, we're going to have to keep downing these guys. Any ideas?" As one of the helicopters began to accelerate, she fired a warning blast, and it slowed once more.
Dark Mist kept an eye on the helicopters approaching the airship, they were getting a little to close to it's prey. A small smile emerged on it's face, then it erupted into a mindless laughter. Surrounding it where a pile of disemboweled corpses, in the distance where the choppers, Dark Mist had a plan to keep those soldiers away from his selected opponents. In a swift motion a large tentacle shot out of the Dark Mist's chest and wrapped around a corpse, twirling it around a few times before tossing it at one of choppers. The bloody corpse collided with the main propeller sending the air ship to the ground, smashing into the ground which resulted in a loud explosion.
You may take away my ranged attack but as long as I have corpses I'm still going to be doing damage at a distance.
Ryan yelled out and sent several tendrils of goo snaking down towards Kris and Amy as they fell, but was forced to turn them into a huge shield as more bullets attempted to slam into them. When he glanced back, they were both on the platform safely again.
"Unless we can lose them somehow, we're going to have to keep downing these guys. Any ideas?" Amy said, as she fired a shot at one of the pursuing helicopters.
"Yea, I've got one." Ryan said, as one of his little goo-balls levitated up in front of him on a string. He waited for a second, lining up his shot, then let the goo-ball fly. As it disconnected, it changed back into it's original form; about a dozen C4 explosives, all timed at three seconds. The huge detonation screen wasn't incredibly accurate, but it was big enough to catch two of the helicopters in it's wake, scoring a direct hit on one and sending the other spiraling out of control with it's blast wave. The sight was also very spectacular.
After the smoke had cleared, however, one more chopper got smacked by something and went down. Ryan stared hard at it as it dropped into the water far below. "Wait... did one of you do that?"
Amy froze, her eyes wide. She looked to Ryan and shook her head- but that damage had been done. She had seen what had flown toward the helicopter, a blur of limbs and rags. A corpse.
Carefully, so she wouldn't fall once again, she approached the edge and looked down onto the streets in the distance. She could see nothing, but the voice that had appeared in her mind earlier seemed to only confirm her fears.
"Ray? Ze vone vith ze infernal powers?" Alexander asked over his shoulder "And on an unrelated note, vhere is zis patch of woodland I'm supposed to be heading for?"
Ryan glanced at Amy, then looked darkly down at the retreating shoreline. After a few moments, he opened his mouth as if to speak, then shut it again. It was clear that Ray was down there, of that he had known already. The voice was obviously of his former nemesis. But now that someone had actually said it...
He turned away from the city and gazed at the dark, lightless mass that represented the woodlands to the south, silently pointing it out for the catman. It was still a little ways to go, but if they could make it there they might stand a little better chance. They couldn't keep this up, at any rate. Damien and Kris were sweating from exertion.
After glancing back down at the now distant Company HQ once more, he looked at Amy, her slightly glowing face still visible in the dark. "Yea, Ray."
Alexander fished in his pocket a bit, causing the craft to bank to the right for a bit until he pulled a bottle out of his pocket and rolled it to Catherine "Acetaminophen, take a couple, might help vith ze headache."
terrible looked up to see several artillery shells come down from the sky exploding around them.
"goddamn these guys suck not even worth my time...later who-ever you are I`ve got more important things to do...okay I don`t but this is still boring the hell outta me so see ya" terrible said over his shoulder as he started walking away looking for something else to do.
"hmmm where do I go now" terrible looked up to see a aircraft surrounded by several helicopters one of the copters being taken down by something with a blood red trail behind it.
"huh, that looks interesting I`m gonna follow that" terrible said smiling as he started chasing after the airship.
As smart as Catherine thought taking an unknown substance from a catlike man and downing it all was, she decided to throw them off the craft after the catman turned back to directing the vehicle. She truly thought that taking something for the pain would only worsen her tolerance to it and that it would clear up by itself soon.
She felt increasingly sick from the ride, her mind felt like it was trying to rip itself out of her skull just to avoid any more pain.
"Not long now... Not long now..." She was faintly whispering to herself, doing all she could to ignore the pain as it built up, and pushing her hands to her forehead. "Please... Not long now..."
Alexander turned around as he heard all the pills within the bottle shifting at once and quirked a brow at Catherine "It vas Aspirin...Somevone check her pulse..."
Dark Mist watched as the helicopters continued to give chase, probably didn't take the hint that Dark Mist was the kind who didn't want their prey to be touched. The figure slowly raised it's arms, a heavy black smoke poured from it's mouth as it began to change. Four wings made of condensed smoke shot out of back of Dark Mist and they began to flap lifting him off the ground. His eyes focused on the helicopter in the center and so it flew through the air towards the objective. One arm expanded out into a titanic blade and Dark Mist swung at the helicopter, effectively slicing the chopper in half.
