I work in Para-Ops. What my name is, who I am, these things are not important. officially, I and my colleagues don't exist. Our job is sorting out what shouldn't be, to smooth down the status quo when something less than normal starts to happen

Normally, it's not much of a deal. Some guy work s out a way to mind control people. Or maybe he finds some old spell book. No problem, he's still not bulletproof. But there was this one time, a while back, when things got way out of hand.

Two years ago, in a city I'm not allowed to name, something happened. We don't know what, but it was big. Somehow, normal people developed superhuman abilities, powers beyond belief. But they went mad, and just tore into each other, every man for himself. Para-Ops were called in, but we had nothing on them. Even on their own, they were one man armies, and we never stood a chance. In the end, we were pulled back, to aviod taking any more losses.

We still don't know why it happened, or how. But now, our scientists reckon the settings are right. They aren't sure, but they reckon it's gonna happen again, and soon. They more than a little vague, but they know enough to tell us where. Right now, there a debate in high command: do we head in, do our duty, try to keep order, or do we hold back.

I know which way it will go. We cannot just sit back and watch such devastation again. But personally, I'd rather hang back. I'd not like to be there when the surge comes again...

Right, y'all, I've decided to start now, and terribleyetfun can join whenever he happens to arrive, should he choose to.

To start with, write yourself an intro post. You know the drill (I hope). Do what you want, maybe meet up for chat or a fight. I'll be dropping some story, or some notable NPCs, on you at some point in the near future.

But for now, go mental =D

Ray looked outside to see if he was being watched, he see's nobody. Ray slowly steps outside his apartment door, Ray begins to walk down the street towards the local police station to rat out the members of the drug cartel, he thought his job was getting to dangerous figured if he came clean he could get a fresh start. he walks for about 2 blocks and then he see's a group of 3 men heavily tattooed, all holding knives, and wearing all black and green outfits oh shit! another hit squad[/] Ray thought to himself. he began to turn around when one of the assassins noticed him and shouted "there he is! kill him!". Ray quickly ran into an abandoned factory and slammed the door behind him, locking the door and placing a desk in front of it. Ray heard the assassins starting to break down the door, he searched around for a potential weapon to defend himself.

Sorry to be annoying, but this isn't the kind of game where I tell you what you can and can't do. It's more the kind where you write what happens to you , unless it gets in the way of another player

Sitting on the site was Chris, long after the others had began to get their lunches and slip off premises for a few drinks nearby. He'd decided to sit back from the others, they didn't trust him and he didn't trust them, they had no idea about his true ability.

He laughed dropping his trash from the girder he'd managed to climb on to and laughed as it flickered blue and disintegrated into ash.

"I hate this town" he said pulling his hat out the bag he kept his lunch in, he sighed before climbing down to the ground floor and pulling the hard hat off to switch it for his normal hat.

He mock saluted to a couple of the guys sitting around joking and laughing, one of them returned the gesture before flicking him the finger when Chris' back was turned to him.

"Should just fucking blow that guy up," Chris said feeling their laughter aimed at him, he placed his hand against a trash can and felt his anger surging into the bin, it began to glow blue as he took off running in the opposite direction from it.

He'd already cleared a block and a half before he heard the echo from the bin blowing up. He slowed down panting as people began to head out towards the source.

7:50 am.

The light shined brightly through the silk curtains. The calm and tranquil feeling of the room seemed to slow down time. The rays from the sun shined across the room and made the expensive furniture shine and almost come to life.

Blair, who at this point was still fast asleep, lay in her bed. The covers tossed over her contorted body. Pillows seemed to be everywhere except under her head. And a small puddle of drool was by her face.

Sadly, Blair's quiet slumber passed as her maid, Jennifer, burst into her room complaining about her lateness.

"Ms. Blair, you need to get up. You're going to be late and its your first day back at university. How will they think of you if you're late on your first day back?"

Instead of getting a respond Jennifer got a comedic timed snore.

"ZZZzzzzZZZZzzzzz"

"MS. BLAIR!!"

Blair opened her eyes widely and turned to face her maid.

"What?!?"
"Its time to wake up."
"Why didn't you just wake me up calmly? There was no need for you to shout."

Jennifer rolled her eyes and began to exit the room.

"You have ten minutes to get ready Mr. Blair."
"Gotcha the first time."

Blair rubbed her eyes and yawned. Ten minutes was more then enough. All she really needed was one or two minutes. Thanks to her super speed she could get everything done. It also let her sleep in more. Blair smiled and rose from her bed. In what seemed like seconds she had already brushed her teeth, washed her face, and taken a shower.

Walking to a nearby chair she saw that her clothes had already been picked out.

They treat me as if I were five.

Blair shrugged and put her clothes on. Looking at the clock she took notice of the time. 7:51 am. She quietly laughed and made her way to the door.

"This power is just too good."

Quick question. Is EVERYONE getting superpowers, or just us?

Also, this post is somewhat open just in case anyone wanted to join up with me.

Justin was strolling down the sidewalk on the lazy Saturday morning. He didn't have anywhere to go or be, he simply wanted to be outside. He spent so much time in the comedy club, he rarely saw the sun. The heat of the sunlight on his skin was marvelous to him.

Yup. Gonna be a good day today, I can feel that already.

James grunted as he shifted to get a better angle at the fusebox. The lock holding it closed was jammed shut. Heaving the crowbar, he felt the lock give slightly. James grinned and threw his weight against the steel rod, shouting as he fell forward into the now open fusebox. The live contacts tickled his skin as they discharged 20,000 volts into his body. Giggling, he pushed himself off.

I need to be more careful, God forbid if anyone saw me.

Leaning back towards the fusebox, he shot a glance to either side and rewired the thing with his bare hands. Standing, he closed the door and sent a small spark from his finger to seal the metal lock. Dusting his hands off, he picked up his toolbox and walked out of the well-furnished living room and into the kitchen area of the apartment.

"All done Mrs Jackson, you should stop getting those power fluctuations now."

An attractive blonde woman turned to face him and gave a broad smile.

"Oh thank you so much!"

James nodded his head towards her.

"No problem ma'am, you should get the invoice in the post within the next few days."

The woman smiled.

"Alright, thanks very much for your help."

James gave a small smile.

"No worries, Mrs Jackson. Take care."

With that, he exited the apartment and began to take the steps down to the ground floor. Glancing out of one of the windows on his way down, he saw a young man in a white hat on a building site opposite the block suddenly sprint away from a bin that seemed to be giving off a strange glow. James stopped, dumbfounded.

"The hell...?"

His thoughts were cut short by the bin suddenly disappearing in a large explosion, knocking James to the floor. He struggled to his feet and raced down the stairs to the street. Dropping everything but the crowbar, he began to run in the same direction as the other man, looking for a white baseball cap.

You just picked the wrong day to piss me off mate!

Ray turns his head towards a shard of industrial strenght glass, just what i needed Ray thought, "hey asshole!, we almost got the door down, surrender and will kill you painlessly" one of the thugs yelled at him, Ray gripped the glass shard figuring that if he going to die, it may as well be fighting. a sudden jolt of power charges through Rays body, he stairs at his hand seeing a black energy surrounding his hand. the door breaks down and the thugs stare at Ray "what...the...." one of the thugs began to mutter, Ray charges the thugs, he feels the shock through his hand as the glass slice's into the neck of the one thugs. he turns towards the larger thug, he raise's his hand and fires a dark energy blast at him, tearing the flesh from his his face. Ray glances at the last thug who has fallen to the Ground in fear, his hands guarding his face, Ray approaches the final thug and mutters "get up you coward, get up and leave, tell them what you saw" the thug picks himself up and runs out of the factory holy crap, how the hell did i do that! ray thought to himself as he leaves the factory so much power, so much potential, i could use this to my advantage

She was standing over this city a lot nowadays. She'd come up here when she couldn't sleep, when she needed somewhere to train her powers or just wanted to think. It calmed here, to look down at the city she helped to keep safe. She mused that without her the city wouldn't be as it was today.

But things were different today. An explosion in the not-too-far-off distance. It piqued her interest and she'd need to find the cause eventually. I guess it's me to the rescue. She removed her glasses, slipped a mask out of her pocket and donned it before taking her jacket, shirt and jeans off to reveal the blue and red outfit beneath with the familiar SG emblazoned on the chest. If so many stereotypes hadn't been placed on super people from comic books and superhero movies she'd have gone for something less cliche, but with this everyone could easily see her as the good guy.

And with herself suitably disguised, and her regular clothes out of sight, she went to save the day. Using a decent run up and a burst of heated water aimed downwards she could jump across buildings and glide to the other side. It made for more interesting travel than usual. A lot quicker as well. Not even five minutes later she dropped down into the alley of onlookers and blasted metal.

Onlookers who quickly became annoying. A few gave cries of "Look! It's Supergirl!" while some clamoured around to see the heroin. But her first words were hardly heroic. "What the hell happened here?"

One onlooker raised their voice, "Some guy was here before. He touched the bin and it exploded."

"So he touched and it exploded?" Catherine sighed, a waste of her time for such a mundane problem, and asked a new question. "Can you tell me what he looked like?"

"He's sort of thin. Average height. Messed up hair. I can't remember much else... But he went off that way."

Very well. It seems like I'll have to do a quick search of the area. I'm sure he won't have gotten far.

She returned again to the rooftops and began going in the direction of the man.

Blair sat in her limo. The streets, as always were crowded, and the traffic was no different.

"Excuse me driver, but whats taking so long?"
"There seems to have been an explosion a few blocks away.
"Really?"

A large grin spread across Blair's face. She loved this city, not because of all the fashion, or stupid trends, but because of the nonstop excitement when it came to burglaries or other crimes.

"I think I'll walk."
"Ma'am, if you just wait a few minutes.."

Blair didn't listen to the driver. She stepped out of the car, and as she did she saw the cities hero. Super... whatever her name is flew past them.

"Great.."

Oh bloody hell, did I miss the entire concept here?

You're just people with superpowers. Cathy is the exception. She's pretty much just decided to make herself a super heroin.

Thank you. Now I don't feel like an idiot! :D

Justin turned a corner and walked a bit more. He was whistling a merry tune. Such a happy day....

An explosion not even three blocks away occurred, making a nice echo through the man-made jungle. He turned about and ran towards where he thought the sound was, not really caring what caused it.

Jebus I'm a hunted man right at the start o_O
Chris collapsed into a doorway as the rush of people panicking reached a fever pitch, he took off his hat to shake his hair free, it was then he noticed the man with the crowbar amongst the crowd.

"The fuck?" he muttered quietly, he was looking around as if hunting for someone, probably me, knowing my luck,Chris thought standing up with his hat in his hand, he tried to blend into the crowd to see if it was him the armed guy was hunting for.

A flash of white caught James' eye.

"Oi, dickhead!"

He began to push through the crowd, the crowbar in his hand proving quite an effective icon to encourage people to avoid him. Seeing a white cap held in a man's hand, he looked at him, seeing his grey eyes and messy hair.

"You make a habit of blowing stuff up?!"

"Stray! What the hell is taking so long?!?!"

Ryan started, ramming his head into the shelf above him as the cans he had been holding dropped to the floor and rolled in several directions. He leaned back on his heels, rubbing his head and grimacing.

"Hey, i'm talkin to you! What's taking so bloody long?!?!", Porky yelled at him from the end of the aisle.

Ryan muttered under his breath as he stood up. "Yea, whatever. Sorry." He crouched back down and began to pick up the fallen cans, one of which had rolled underneath the shelf.

"That's sorry sir, ungrateful punk!" The store manager, whom Ryan affectionately referred to as "Porky", began stomping his way down the aisle towards him, face red, eyes wide, breath wheezing. He was a short man, with a fat round body that blended seamlessly with his fat stubby legs. His head appeared to be a series of double-chins and oddly shaped lumps, poorly disguised under a semi-circle of thinning hair. In direct contrast with all this were his arms, which were long and skinny, and gave him a rather chimp-like appearance.

"Now tell me boy, what the hell is taking you so long?" Ryan stood up again and quickly deposited the cans in their proper place on the shelf. "I'm not sure sir." "You're not sure? Not sure?!?! What the hell kind of answer is that?!?!" The face got redder and redder as the short little man shouted up at him. "Well yesterday you told me i was going too fast and not putting things where they were supposed to go. So today I was taking my ti-" he was cut off by a string of cursing and flailing and spitting. "Damnit boy, I've told you so many times! What the hell is wrong with you?!?! You've worked here long enough to understand these things and I..." the rest of the lecture faded into the background as Ryan stood there, trying to look like he was paying attention, while imagining how many different interesting an amusing ways there could be to kill a fat grocery store manager.

A few hours later he opened the door to his apartment and walked in, tossing his backpack onto the floor and slumping down on the couch. What an awful day. He flicked on the tv, and watched the evening news for a few minutes. Same stuff. He got up and walked to the kitchen, picking up his backpack on the way. He unzipped it and pulled out some microwave lasagna, which he had "procured" from the back room of Porky's place. Being able to hide a box of lasagna, a chicken pot pie, two apples and a pack of gum under one shirt sleeve made it pretty easy to steal things.

The first time Ryan had been aware of his "special attribute" was a about 6 months ago when he had fallen strait through a wobbly park bench. Since then he had experimented with it, and found to his delight the many uses it had. He could carry heavy objects, walk through doors, set the remote on top of the tv without getting up, and change his cloths without even having to bend a finger. It hadn't made him any real money yet though, but he was working on that.

The microwave beeped. He went and got it, then sat down at the tv again to eat. Just as an interesting story about a so-called "supergirl" came on, there was a rumbling BOOM that shook the building. The tv cut off, and the plate slipped through his fingers, dumping the hot lasagna pan onto his lap. He jumped up by instinct, cursing and muttering to himself. "Dang, gotta get a hold on that sooner or later." He picked up the thankfully un-spilled dinner and placed it on the table, then grabbed his hoodie and exited the apartment to go see what was all the ruckus.

Blair arrived on the scene in a matter of seconds.

"What happened here?"

After a few more minutes of looking she came upon two men who seemed to be arguing.

"Do you two men know what happened here?"
