Is every shooting these days carried out by an adolescent these days blamed on games? Seems like it.

Condolences to the families, fuck the "guns kill people" people. There's always one. Seriously, If they find Osama Bin Laden tomorrow, the first thing they will do is look for a copy of CS to blame it all on.

So, a wealthy business man trains his mentally unstable son in marksmanship? Clever.

If anything, this proves a link between elitism and depression...

Based solely on my own personal experience I don't think that violent games influence violent and aggressive behavior.

I play a heroic amount of violent games on a regular basis, listen to very heavy music and watch lots of zombie movies yet I am a rather passive person. If this theory of 'violent games = psychopath' was correct then I should surely be out there reducing people to a fine paste with a shotty.

From what I've heard about the massacre in Germany it is just another sad case of someone who really shouldn't of had access to firearms.

Sociological/Psychological researchers are going to be interested in finding one common cause/influence to violence of this nature since that will (in theory) help them come up with a solution that will prevent further unfortuneate events like this, politions and police officials are going to seek said solutions as well since this makes them look more professional and knowledgeable which in turn will give the public greater faith and trust in the police/government.

It may seem like I'm just picking on the offender/gunman when I say 'some people are just inately dangerous' but in most cases this is the problem.

Face it games will be persecuted because its easy, we don't have senators and lobbyists like guns and porn...

maybe that will change in the next 20-30 years though then we can blame this on something more sinister... like bad apricots

So besides the fact that a mentally unstable teen who was rejected and knew how to access at least one gun in his home, it is a games fault.

Also all the "facts" about this game were wrong.

Black Camo-My guy wheres a bright green shirt
Rewards from headshots-? faster death

All this makes me wonder what would happen if another school shooting happened and the only thing the kid played was Crash Bandicoot. They'd probably compare the similarites between the gun used and the apple launcher and "accidentally" say the launcher was the same gun used.

What makes people do S*** like this is wether or not they can see the line between game and reality. Which this kraut obviously couldn't.

"You can see their influence in the way these school shooters aim and shoot accurately and move from one target to the next, moving through people dispassionately."

His father, a wealthy businessman who also had a passion for firearms and owned 15 guns himself, had taught his son to shoot at the age of eight and just three weeks before the killings had allowed his son to take the pistol to the gun range to "practice his aim."
right because tilting your analog stick or moving your mouse so that the cross in the middle of the screen is where the humanoid pixel stands is exactly the same than putting up your arm with the weight of a gun and level it to the very much alive guy is cowering in fear

The number of violent deaths in the world didn't dramatically skyrocket when games were invented, so there's no proof of a link.
I'm fairly sure there is a good link between shitty parenting an violence.

Apparently Kretschmer was a spoiled, gun obsessed youth, with a secret predilection for bondage pornography and had withdrawn from a lot of his former friends. Yup its totally Farcry 2 and Counter-Strike fault...
Indeed, who'd have thought half a lifetime's worth of exposure to firearms, firing training and social detachment could be caused by a five month old game...
What? After years of obvious weapons training and living in a positive gun house, you've never wanted to shoot people after a few hours of gaming? Nothing to do with lifestyle he was bought up in. Jesus, even if you ARE a wealthy businessman, I would hope to God that some part of your parenting instinct kicks in when your son becomes a hermit. Parents really need to pay close attention to their kids. God only knows what could have happened if his father had asked him what was wrong one day.

...and none of that can possibly be what caused this. It must be Far Cry 2. Heaven forbid that it had anything to do with bad parenting or failure by the social institutions such as schools. It HAS to be Video games, since that way everyone gets to feel good about themselves instead of facing the real issues.

On the other hand, Far Cry 2 is so bad that maybe that's what got him to shoot people...
