No, I don't have the time or money to play MMORPGs. But if I had, I would so buy it.

Doubtful. Never been that intrested to begin with, and after watching some gameplay videos I thought it looked pretty dull.
Besides, I need to start playing games less. Can't afford to get sucked up in another MMO!

I really would never play an mmo that requires a monthly subscription. They have worse graphics, worse combat, and usually a worse story than pretty much any other kind of game.
Then they make you pay more money for it.
This is the same reason I don't play COD. It's an mmo with a yearly $100 subscription fee.

The only class I enjoyed enough to play for more than a day was the Sith inquisitor. When I went to load up the game for this weekends test I found I had to download an 11GB patch for some reason. If each patch is going to be that big I don't have the space on my computer or time to play. Going to pass on this one.

I played the Beta, and it felt like WoW 2.0. Sadly unless you REALLY love the StarWars universe I would not bother getting it. So if all you want is a MMO just stick with WoW. Unless you are really sick of WoW then SW:ToR also might be for you.

If I do, it will be for the story alone. I wish MMOs and MMPORGs could stay behind in the last decade, for me at least they've hit a wall.

I'm with those who say no because of the monthly subscription fee.

I'd feel compelled to rush my way through the story so that I don't end up paying hundreds of dollars for the game. If I can't enjoy the game at my own pace without getting wallet-raped, then I say no. It could be the greatest game ever, and I'd still avoid it.

I don't play MMORPGs

The way I see it the money and time investments for MMORPGs is so all consuming (with my budget and time constraints) I have to choose between playing one MMORPG per year and expansions, and playing SCORES of new, different and interesting games.

It's easily £120 per year for subscription and the obligatory annual expansion, with steam Sales I can get about 10 games per year with that. TEN games! Different games! No MMORPG can match the unique variety and enjoyment of the top-10 PC games of the past year. Not without a lot of repetition and pedantic variance, not REAL variety!

And all the mods you have for the PC games you have bought, adds a further layer of variety to everything.

And fundamentally, the mechanics of MMORPG that trade your time rather than your skill, grinding. I can't abide by that and SWTOR seems to be doing the same thing.

When it was first announced i was all over it thinking it would be great and something i might actualy subscribe to. Then when i saw gameplay.... The game was dead to me, Still got in the beta to give it one more chance but that just confirmed that i was never gonna touch it again. Well back to waiting for GW2 it is.

Yes I will. I'm enjoying myself playing through the beta, and going through my character's story.

So yeah, since I'm enjoying myself playing it, I'll be buying the game.

Gameplay is weak, but then again every Bioware game except MDK 2 has weak gameplay, so whatever.
Ditto. I am in the beta myself, and so far the Bounty Hunter, the Jedi Knight, the Sith Warrior, and the female Trooper (Jennifer Hale, ftw!) are all greatly written storyline's with multiple venues just to have fun and enjoy yourself the entire (mostly) ride.

I've already got TOR pre-ordered, and get early access on December 15th. Going to miss my current, mid-twenties leveled beta characters, but.. I'll be able to recreate them permanently soon enough!

Absolutely not. I'd rather eat my own shit than play a Star Wars game. And what I've seen of it, it looks unbelievably silly and a billion times worse than WoW, which already isn't top notch.

I haven't played the beta, and I was reluctant about the game at first, but after what I've seen of the beta, I'm liking the look of it. I'll give it a chance.

I wanted to buy it at first, but after checking my online shop where I usually buy games from here's something I found out:

"The game won't be released at launch in Romania because the producers didn't put it in the list and decided to release it at a later date." And then on the site it says it will be released in March.

I have a guild friend in WoW which asked if he could buy the game for me and send me the code(his country is eligible at launch). You guys think it would be possible? If it's a legal code of the game it should work right?

Would like a reply to this.

Hell yeah I am going to buy it.

Loved the beta weekends. :)
Why? The game is an utter rip of WoW, from the combat to the stylisation of the graphics. Just play WoW and buy Mass Effect for when you want a story.

Hellz ya. I'm in my second weekend test right now, and it kicks ass.
Same question to you - why?
It is just running, talking, and a tiny bit of combat.

I don't see this game going f2p anytime soon, especially with the decline of WoW, I bet they smell big subscriptions (though to judge by this thread, very few are actually excited about it)
If there's one thing I've learned is that the Escapist is not a representation of the world of gamers. In any way.
