30 feet? I'm sorry, but in a pool like that, you should be able to rack up at least a hundred laps before considering it "exercise". Well, maybe that's because I've been swimming for a few years now. Keep at it, and you will get buff. Well, if my standards are too much, try to add a few laps to every workout you get, but 20-30 only adds up to, at max, 274-ish meters, which is about five laps in an Olympic pool, which probably won't give results for a very long time.

Yeah, but Phelps is an effing shark. Seriously, if I were to kill him, I'd get EXP and level appropriate loot off of his corpse.
I'm pretty sure if you turn the Monster Manual to the proper angle you can find a stat block for him.
He's practically unamerican. snh snh snh.

Sorry, i'm still sore about being whipped in the pool by bloody yanks, one man no less. That's our turf, damnit.

If it's any consolation I was hoping he'd lose. That man, just look at him, listen to him talk, look at his mannerisms, he seriously looks like a fish out of water.
Once I expose your genetic engineering scam, I will fly into your parliment (or senate, or galactic republic, whatever) on my newly grafted wings and demand those medals back.

By the end of summer if you stay on your workout regime, you should be crazy in shape (like abs and such).
A slight overstatement. You'll be fitter and healthier, certainly.

Please, feel free to help yourself to the sesame cake I have sent you in the mail while you wait.
I think we should stop filling this poor thread with our nonsense. But i'll eat that cake. PM me with any poisonous side-effects, this thread doesn't need our tomfoolery.

I will say that an ocean swim is either awesome or terryfying depending on your local ocean.

I live in Australia, where it is widely held that:

A) Cthulhu lives in the waters here, because everything else is nightmarish.
B) Cthulhu does not live here, because everything is too nightmarish.

It gets the blood pumping when you find out you're over the shark nets.

Hyperbole is my forte, and swimmers tend to gain amazing core muscle

Another weird thing, during these nauseous periods, i found it helps to go to the deep end of my pool, lift my legs out of the water and place them on the edge, and do the equivalent of situps, just vertically o.o it feels weird but i find myself feeling much better afterwards xD
I just figured out what this is, I had it when I frist started swimming. You're not getting enough oxygen to your brain, it's making you feel a little drunkish and weird, while you're not breathing more during the situps, your body is demanding less air so your brain is returning to priority. Build up your cardio over time and this should abate, don't swim too much when you feel like this, though, as your brain does need air to... live.

Learn the butterfly stroke, and master it.

Its a fun stroke, and its a good workout at the same time.

Ah swimming.

I'm awesome at it.

I would carry on. Swimming is a great way to get into shape as it exercises all parts of you body.

Swimming is about as good as i gets, exercise wise. The fittest people i know dont go to the gym or play any competetive sports, they swim.
Make sure you are eating right too, diet is about 60% of the fitness battle.

This summer i've taken up swimming to get a workout, and only starting and being as out of shape as i am, i've only been able to manage 25 laps a day without feeling too sick to continue (no idea why sick... not tired at all, just kind of nauseous...)And more recently worked up to 30 laps..

Anyways, my pool is 30 feet long, and counting me doing 25-30 laps (a lap for me being to one edge then back), would that be a good enough workout to initiate some noticeable loss over a decent time? or should i work for more?
Don't swim lengths till you drop, mix it up! Do a few lengths on your back, and use different strokes(lol),. taking breaks. If you're rock bottom fitness, swimming is one of the best sports to go for. why?
1)No one notices that you're sweating like Snake at a cardboard convention.

2)You float like a butterfly, even if you sting like a hippo.

3)Swimming is l337.

Trust me, I'm a lifeguard.
