As most people know, taxes are a big issue in the United States. A lot of people just don't want to raise any taxes. Today, I found <a href=http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/money/tax/article1996735.ece> this article while I was stumbling. For anyone who doesn't want to read it, Warren Buffett basically criticizes the American tax system for taxing him, one of the three richest investors in the world, less then his secretary and cleaner.

I read some of the comments, and one of them stuck me as a not very smart view. Some person said that it's stupid for people who make more to be taxed more because they supposedly are more productive, work harder, and are smarter. This just doesn't make much sense to me. Do people think that the average CEO is over 300 times a better worker then the average person?
That Buffett really works 1200 times as hard as the average person?

Where do rich people get off thinking they're better than poorer people and deserve to pay less taxes? The arrogance! If all CEOs and their ilk are this arrogant, it would certainly account for all the white-collar corruption you hear of these days.

Rich, arrogant pricks.

Eight year retroactive salary cap on all professional athletes, singers, and actors. Cap it at only ten million annually. This money could probably end the recession.

He actually is not a CEO, he just invested in the stock market, he lived in the same house, drives a 40 year old ford, has no luxuries, he just has money.

He isnt saying its good, he is complaining about it. Please read before you judge.

There's two things that are definite in life:

Death and Taxes

Surely, if you want to improve your nation's status quo, you can spare a little money in taxes. And it should be not that difficult to differentiate between rich people who are living off of good investments and jackasses that request $10m salaries to run a company into the ground, I'd think.

Tax the shit outta the rich, they will still be ridiculously well off. That's my official opinion.
Exactly. Example: Someone makes 100 millions dollars per year at a 50% tax rate still gets 50 million dollars. Most people even without taxes can't even touch that.

I live in the upper class, and I'll admit i'm a rich prick. And quite frankly we (and not me my parents) pay a shitload in taxes and then when I see what it goes to (ala the 14 children) I really think the money can be better spent on a gold refrigerator. I'm pretty sure on 60% of taxes AT BEST go to people who actually deserve it. But really i'm not all the knowledgeable on the subject.
