What do you mean, "keep happening?" Are you aware of another child who killed a parent over a fight about videogames?
Actually, yes. Wasn't there that one person who strangled his with a controller cord?

Well at least I know a few that TRIED to kill their parents.

Not me though...

Sorry guys, I'm calling bullshit on the 'Asia' comments. Asia if you haven't realised is a big place. Most of this stuff happens in Korea, because they work 6 days a week, divorce is frowned upon and kids have no time to be kids (night classes and holiday classes taking up time when most kids would be playing and developing common social skills).

Most people are highly strung and in shitty relationships they can't get out of, I found Korea to be one of the most miserable places on Earth and I spent three years of my life living in Middlesbrough.
Yeah my cousins go to school at 6 and come back home at 1 in the morning. Just pure studying, I would hate to live like that good thing my parents immigrated to Canada.

Remember that one where the russian kid killed his father with a sledgehammer because he took away his keyboard. Another one is the one where a Brazilian kid stabbed his father in the neck because his dad was better than him at FIFA.

Like seriously I think that some of these murders, suicides, etc are fake. And besides this might sound a little heartless but if the mother had such a problem with her son playing such games, she shouldnt have let him play violent games. If my parents didnt want me playing a violent they took it away from me. Damn there was even a time when I tricked a parent's friend into buying a M rated game but when my dad found out he made me give it back. Newsflash world its called parenting do it.

in koreea, games are serious businesses.
honestly, i'm surprised his mother even bothered to scold him as i see being a gamer is a serious profession over there(especially starcraft).so any parent that objects to this in koreea seems weird to me.

Heated argument ends with someone dead, and the one responsible, crushed by guilt and remorse, kills himself. Seems like he went into a blind rage, and was unable to know, or even stop what he was doing. Might not be linked to a mental disorder, other external factors more likely.

I'm sad to see this. Especially that note...
EDIT:Oh great, racist bullshit.

I am not a racist but Koreans should not be allowed to play video games.
Sorry but that's a nicer way of saying

"Every Korean has no self-control and shouldn't be able to play games." Seriously do you think every single one of us are addicts? (Yes, I am Korean.)
Please do not generalize. <This is towards everyone.

Very true. How's Canada? I'm happy in NZ!

[Insert generic understanding yet disapproving comment, stating that external issues were clearly evident.]

Killing someone over a videogame, ridiculous. Should stick to something safe, like religion, politics, or natural resources, those make sense.

Isn't corporal punishment still widely used in schools in South Korea? Forget the games, I blame the system!

Why? Do they keep beating you at Starcraft?

Cue Fox News in three... two... one...

Seriously, why the heck does this crap keep happening?
Over 6 Billion people in the world.

4 to 5 cases of video game related murders a month. Not to frequent, considering how lots of News organizations turn a blind eye to other kinds of stuff. The fact is, people are really scraping hard to find these kinds of stories.

I feel sad, for both the boy and the mother.

Oh dear... please don't let Jack Thompson or Fox News read this...
Um... who cares what Jack Thompson thinks anymore? Honestly? Do any of us care? I don't think so. Ok maybe a little bit. But it's like listening to Osama Bin Laden threaten the U.S. There's nothing to his threats to destroy the things we love. They are all hollow.
Well said, though just to be safe, I'd say we still try to make the necessary precautions to stop Bin Laden.
