Tekken Movie Trailer Isn't Appalling

Another day, another ropey looking videogame movie trailer, but this Tekken trailer isn't that bad...

Let's face it, it's going to be a long, long time before someone makes a good movie based on a video game, but this trailer for the upcoming Tekken film manages to be less awful than most. While clearly made on a tiny budget and featuring no one you'll recognize, it looks like it might have a few decent fights scene in it.

Directed by Dwight H. Little, who has also directed such martial arts blockbusters as Steven Seagal's Hellboy 2 [http://www.amazon.com/Marked-Death-Steven-Seagal/dp/B000QXDCLU/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1280784592&sr=1-1], the movie gets its theatrical in Japan on March 6th, 2010 and presumably at some point after that in the rest of the world.

Still, it can't be worse that the Dead or Alive [http://www.amazon.com/D-O-Alive-Jaime-Pressly/dp/B000I0RNXY/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1280784678&sr=1-1] movie, right?

Not as bad looking as I thought it would be. The story seems like every other story in a fighting movie but then again Tekken had a hokey story its self.

"THIS IS IRON FIST!"

I think this will further prove that games should remain games and films should remain films.

I think the movie is going to be straight to DvD outside of Japan. As for the trailer...it looks okay. It seems to be actual fighting in this movie.

This actually looks pretty good.

Then again, if you watch Dead or Alive as a comedy, that's good too.

Seems okay, but I don't see there being anything outside of all the fight scenes.

Will it be like "Fight, fight, fight, love interest, training montage, fight fight fight, sexual tension, fight fight fight, The End"

"Rule 2: You do not talk about..."

Is there anything other than a couple of people beating the crap out of each other going on?

The trailer may not be appalling, but the movie certainly will be. You can't really make a good movie out of a fighting game while remaining faithful to the spirit of the game. I'd say you should forget the spirit of the game and go for faithful to the characters, but that will just piss off the hardcore fans. It's a loose-loose situation all around.
Besides, when has a video game tie-in movie ever been good?

At least that costumes are mostly right.

But there is one thing bothering me.And that is the fact that Jin is supposed to have spiky hair.SPIKY.

fighting games don't make good movies at all
Very true, street fighter movie anyone?
Which one? The anime one was pretty good. The live-action one was made of fail and the ashes of Raul Julia's legacy.

As for this trailer... haven't I seen it about three hundred times before, in the incarnation of every craptacular "man fights for revenge" film that's ever come down the pipe?

Oh holy god that music was bad. Do they just get moody 13-year-old suburban kids to pick the music for these kind of movies?
