As long as they don't try to make this flick into anything more than what it IS, it might actually not be that bad. Sure it looks a little low bugdget, but what the hell do you want from a movie thats just about fighting?
And as far as not recognizing anyone, thats a bit of a generalization don't you think? I instantly recognized Luke Goss (Blade 2, Hellboy 2) and anyone who's ever seen a martial arts movie will recognize Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Mortal Kombat & way too many others to mention). I know what you're saying though and I agree, if this movie was filled with "stars" the action sequences would suck beyond compare. (Brigitte Wilson, Mortal Kombat. 'Nuff said.) Its fairly obvious that most of the characters are trained martial artists first, and actors second.
All in all this looks like a pretty cut and dried martial arts/video game movie, and if that wasn't enough, we still have ANOTHER Mortal Kombat coming up.
Lets face it guys, Hollywood has been out of ideas for over a decade. Once, just ONCE I would like to see a new Hollywood action movie that was based more around a good story and interesting characters rather than how much money they can suck out of the drooling masses.
I guess that remains to be seen.
