I don't mind a game movie it can be pretty enjoyable with the right mindset.
What i am afraid of is this male lead. It seems another goku fail. Typical teenage american high school underdog who gets the girl.

Until I see me a Half man Half Cheetah, I'm not seeing this.
That's only a mask. I'm more interested in more Yoshimitsu or Mokujin (the wooden thing that copys everyone elses moves), how the hell is that thing alive.

or Panda!

Eh... alright. Not a single known face.
I wonder how funny this movie will be.

Also, although it's cool to see Yoshimitsu there but who the heck allowed him to fight with his sword? lol!
I think I missed Xiaoyu there too... or maybe I'm just sleepy.

and starring Luke Goss, who is probably best known for his appearances in Blade II and Hellboy 2
Luke Goss of Bros fame? I had no idea he did martial arts.

this still looks like shit.

Prince of Persia looks better (not saying that it looks good either)

I'm still waiting for Silent Hill 2 to be released

Good video game movies are rare, but there hardly non-existent.

First off, there's a bunch of excellent animated movies based on video games. So the real criticism would be terrible live action movies based on video games.

The first Mortal Kombat movie wasn't bad.

Resident Evil movies are sometimes not too bad.

Final Fantasy: Spirits Within was quite good, and I don't care what anyone says.

Max Payne had some moments.

Silent Hill is pretty much the gold standard of how to make a good Video Game movie.

So there you go. There's certainly no shortage of flaws in video game movies, but a decent looking video game movie is hardly a first. Hell, the PoP movie looks pretty decent

Was that "peoples Choice" kid supposed to be Jin?

Jin got new nickname then instead of "Devil", now he's "Skinny Jin"

"people's choice" and the obvious romantic interest makes me think the movie will suck.

Ohwell, I will attempt to rent it even if everyone says it sucks. That, and also rent the Prince of Persia movie.

But there is one thing bothering me.And that is the fact that Jin is supposed to have spiky hair.SPIKY.
As long as we see him turn into Satan at some point the hair doesn't bother me too much.

At least it's not going to be the Street Fighter movie, which had nothing at all to do with street fighting. It's centred on Iron Fist, as it should be.

As long as they don't try to make this flick into anything more than what it IS, it might actually not be that bad. Sure it looks a little low bugdget, but what the hell do you want from a movie thats just about fighting?

And as far as not recognizing anyone, thats a bit of a generalization don't you think? I instantly recognized Luke Goss (Blade 2, Hellboy 2) and anyone who's ever seen a martial arts movie will recognize Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Mortal Kombat & way too many others to mention). I know what you're saying though and I agree, if this movie was filled with "stars" the action sequences would suck beyond compare. (Brigitte Wilson, Mortal Kombat. 'Nuff said.) Its fairly obvious that most of the characters are trained martial artists first, and actors second.

All in all this looks like a pretty cut and dried martial arts/video game movie, and if that wasn't enough, we still have ANOTHER Mortal Kombat coming up.

Lets face it guys, Hollywood has been out of ideas for over a decade. Once, just ONCE I would like to see a new Hollywood action movie that was based more around a good story and interesting characters rather than how much money they can suck out of the drooling masses.

I guess that remains to be seen.

Why do movie producers think we want to watch this? The point of games is the interactivity, making a movie about something we rather be playing is stupid.

Thats one of the things that always sucks about video game movies, the characters RARELY look exactly like their game counterparts, so its almost always a trade off. You can either have someone that looks exactly like the game and can't fight to save their lives, or you have someone whos got a passing resemblance, but can fight and maaaybe act as well.

You just have to remember, Hollywood doesn't give a shit about the fans, they just want their MONEY.
