"Frighten, intimidate, or cause emotional distress"

Doesn't this pretty much sum up the entire internet?
Now that you mention it... doesn't this sort of sum up this very law?

Considering that Americans are always boasting about their right to 'free speech'...are they now going to invade Tennessee and liberate them from this injustice? They should...and i hope they use nukes this time :p

Wait... wouldn't this law make any mention of Tennessee illegal on any computer in Tennessee ? Or anything to do with most of the err, progressive ideas ? That seem to be coming out of the south recently ? Oh right backwards... Yea.

Hmmm, well this is one of the problems with the USA actually. We wind up with a lot of old people who just don't understand current technology and the associated issues involving it to create and pass meaningful laws, and those that DO have an idea of what they are trying to accomplish wind up getting their efforts derailed by the agendas of others. While the age requirements to hold office aren't all *that* strict, a lot of things conspire to ensure that the current generation is rarely one one actually running things, and it currently doesn't help much that we have the Baby Boomers living so long, which means they basically got to hold office over TWO generations since "Generation X" (my generation) has been skipped over more or less.

At any rate, I think this law is a backlash due to all of the "shock" material floating around out there in general, and an older generation that just isn't used to it. The law is not only unconstitutional, but also unenforcable, but I think that's in part because the people in charge really have no idea what they are dealing with in this case, it's very similar to a lot of other attempts I've seen to regulate The Internet... from all over the world.

Why would you tell me not to google it? Why would you use such a word in the first place? Why????

Any chance one of you crazy American types can claim this law causes you emotional distress there by stopping this nonsense before it begins?

Cos if this kinda crap gets over to the UK, there's gonna be trouble.

Theoretically, can't this be used to outlaw any/all violent video games that allow online multiplayer?

I'm not sure how state-law works in the US, but would it be possible for someone from Tennessee to go to an Internet Café in a bordering state and send all kinds of emotionally distressing images to whichever idiot thought up this law and it being perfectly legal?

I dunno what's more hilarious, this retarded law, or the war that Scrump and Clarion waged.

Wow. What a bunch of schmucks.

Can I say that if there's any chance it might get back to a legislator in Tennessee?

This is like a five-year-old trying to ban bedtime in its level of comprehension of the issues involved.

*puts his index and middle finger to his forehead* Wait a moment...I'm...getting a vision...yes yes, it's a very clear one. I see...mounds and mounds of goatse and every horrid iteration of rule 34 being swiftly spammed to the Tennessee senate's various inboxes. And...oh...oh god...I hear the cry of thousands of angry channers rallying behind the cause for lulz to meet this challenge for internet depravity.

God help us all...

Know what I'm offended of Tennessee? Stupid-ass laws like this. So therefore, it is illegal for you to show the law to anyone, making it impossible to enforce, and therefore you must end this.

I mean, come on. I know there isn't jack shit to do in Tennessee, but can't you find something more important to do instead of just banning people from saying "gay" and "homosexual" and banning anything that might be offensive to some dude who just wouldn't care in the long run?

I'm all for cracking down on the wild wild web with all the shit going on recently. Some order and justice needs to be brought online but this is just probably gonna be exploitable to the max.

I'm glad I live here California, the only things I have to worry about are earthquakes, crooked union leaders, and the inevitability of legalized pot.*

*disclaimer*: doesn't really care if pot is legal or not.
