I use the term 'aegis' alot in random places. I also say whilst more often than while.

I don't use slang, for the most part.
I don't even know what half of it means.

I do use words like "slattern," "shenanigans," and other words that haven't been in popular use for 50 to 100 years.

Because I can.

I know a guy who says shennanigans a lot. He's also a fan of comedy from the 50's, So that's probably why.

My overuse of words is'nt slang. According to most of my friends, I say the word like almost every of word when I'm describing somthing. I don't even notice it.
