Terrible Parts in Great Games

So I was playing through Metro 2033, and having a lot of fun with it. But then I came to the amoeba part, the fucking amoeba part. That part was one of the most nightmarishly frustrating rooms I've ever seen in a game. It's really a shame too because the rest of the game was excellent and it really drags down the game to have a part this annoying and sloppy that close to the conclusion.

So, what are some parts you guys thought were terrible in otherwise great games?

Well currently i am loving Guilty Gear XX A Core + but Hating the Boss.
Whoever thought it was a good idea to give I-NO shots of pure Caffeine and up her attack by at least 75% needs to be punched.

Another game i absolutely love is Metroid Prime...but the Damn Backtracking.
Didn't ruin the game but......i didn't like it at all.

I think Alpha Protocol would have been a lot better if they had made the game more about the socialising and stuff and less about the gameplay.

The Ymir Forest in Tales of Symphonia. I understand the need to have a puzzle sequence to leave an area, but could they possibly have made one more utterly absurd and arbitrary than "an elf child each of us outweighs by between 20-200 lbs. won't let us through without a fruit, that's floating on the water close to the land, but apparently not close enough because it's guarded by a fish"?

I'll list some from RPG's... why not?

- Dragon Age: The Fade portion of the Circle of Magi quest
- Knights of the Old Republic: Taris
- Knights of the Old Republic II: Peragus and Telo IV... AND Nar Shadaa :(
- Mass Effect: Lunar Mission (DAMN YOU ROCKET DRONES!)
- Mass Effect 2: Fighting Praetorians
- Morrowind: The first two hours of the game (roughly)
- Oblivion: Fighter's Guild Questline and getting approval to join the Mage's Guild

Edit: Some for Mass Effect I forgot...

- Mass Effect: Vehicle Sections not attached to the main quest
- Mass Effect 2: Probing pre-patch

The Fade in Dragon Age: Origins, the one hiccup in an otherwise brilliant game. If you're not a magic user it's just so bloody difficult.

Personally, I enjoyed Halo: Combat Evolved. I still regard The Library as one of the most horrid levels in history, though. Did this even seem like a good idea at the time?
Well, I played it with a cousin on his Xbox (yes, the big one) when it came out. On Legendary. Luckily, the kid was insanely good with a controller and I'm not so bad myself. We practially breezed through the level, guns blazing. Looking back (and having played it later on PC alone) I wonder how the fuck we could pull that off.
But the escape section at the end of the game was probably some of the most epic shit I've come across in my entire nerdy existence.

And the fucking fade in Dragon Age: Origins.
WHY, BIOWARE, WHYYY????

The Bioshock escort missions, awesome game, but then you have to drag around a little sister and save her butt.

I only did this once in Bioshock 2 before giving up on the game altogether cause i remembered how slow it is then realized I'd have to do it about 100 more times throughout the game, fuck that.

Was I the only person who liked this level, it was so insanely easy to beat on legendary, all you needed was a pistol and a shotgun and your good to go.

DOW 2: Mother fucking Angels Gate, I HATE that god damn level.

Resource mining in Mass Effect 2. Also the mission on board the derelict reaper. Husk spam makes me rage.

I absolutely despised the stealth part of Jedi Knight II. After several hours of Kyle Katarn making entire legions of stormtroopers his personal ***** he decides to surrender if one so much as catches sight of him.

The collecting of the secret items on the 'City of Water' level of Painkiller.

Changes the game from an action packed gun crazed FPS into a pixel perfect infuriating 3D platformer.

Of course it's not NEEDED to finish the game, but it's no mere achievement either, it earns you a tarot card, which gives you bonuses in game.

Usually vehicle sections suck ass in most FPS games. I hated shooting out of the back of trucks at high speed targets in the Call of Duty games.

Also, I absolutely hate, hate, HATE grinding battles in tactical RPGs between the story battles. Granted they are not 100% mandatory, but usually you can't advance without grinding the same identical battle 3-4 times so your party can gain levels and not get destroyed in the next chapter. Any of the Ogre Battle-universe tactical RPGs are particularly guilty of this, but so was FFT on the PS and Valkyria Chronicles on PS3

If the Halo series did anything right it was vehicle sections. To this day my favorite part of Halo (or any modern FPS for that matter) is the Warthog... may it live on after the Halo franchise is dead and forgotten.

I'm going to look like an idiot for posting about MW2 but I will anyway. I don't care for the multiplayer as much compared to COD 4, but mw2's single player is awesome, except for that damn Favela level, that made me want to rip my eyes out.

Transformers WfC
the part where you have to protect Ratchet while he repairs Omega Supreme. Ratchet went down every five seconds. I died so many times.
