Terry Pratchett has passed away

If only he could've held out for a few more weeks, he could've died on April 1st, would've been one of the best April Fool's day reports ever. I think someone like Terry would appreciate his death being on a day that nobody would actually believe the report. xD

Ah well. He shall be greatly missed. A brilliant writer and a role model for me as an atheist and skeptic, I will miss his delightful style in his writing, and his colorful world of characters.

Though I hear his daughter will continue the Discworld tradition, per his request, so we might still get more novels. They won't be the same of course, but if they keep the spirit of his writing, then that's fine with me.

Farewell Mr. Pratchett, thank you for the wonderful books you've written, that have enriched my life over the years.

Ah damn I'm really sad now. I love the Discworld books. I find the reason especially depressing. Everyone dies, but the particular reason is sad.

Death considered this with what might have been called a troubled expression, excepting of course that he did not have one. The blue flecks of light within the skull's socket dimmed, and he thought upon the matter.

Fuck this makes me so sad, he's been my favourite author since I was 10. My old and battered copy of night watch, with the original front, is the best book I have ever read.

Your watch is over now Sir Terry, enjoy the black desert and try not to upset Binky.

Terry Pratchett has been one of my favourite authors for a long time. It doesn't come as a surprise and I feel as though he had accepted this for quite some time, but it's still sad to see him go.

"No more words. We know them all, all the words that should not be said. But you have made my world more perfect."

I hate to see him go and hate even more that it was Alzheimer that got him. I hope his passing was pain free and wish his family the best.

Sir Terry sadly lost his battle with Alzheimer's disease. Many people here have read and enjoyed his 70 novels that last been completed in summer 2014

I'm actually choking up. I've been reading Pratchett's novels since I was in school and to think I will never go into the bookshop with a smile to pick up his latest, wonderful, funny novel is making me physically weep...

It's going to be really odd now... I guess I should go and try out that old Diskworld Noir game or pick up my copy of Night Watch...

From the first moment I picked up a little book called "Thief of Time" out of curiosity, I don't think there's been a single week I haven't read a Pratchett book.

While I have not read every single one of them, of those that I do, I always re-read when I get the chance. Hell, My favourite book, Thud!, I have read AT LEAST 20 times and without hyperbole, I am not even slightly tired of reading it. Hell, I almost always find something new in every subsequent read through, no matter how small.

Pratchett just had the power to do that I guess.

It's very sad, not only did he die but so did all his characters. No more wizards, no more nightswatch, no more barbarians, no more DEATH. I will never be able to immerse myself in a new discworld novel again.

Death comes personally for wizards, royalty, and those most important. Terry was all of them.
