OH WOW.. and that leaves 4-1 done.. once you make sense from the letter vomit it becomes quite simple. Thank you Escapist... This has given me an excuse to think every day! :D

EDIT: What program is everyone using to plot the points for 4-2? Or are we going back to pen and paper for this one as well?
I used the map plotting feature of google maps, it's probably far from the best but it lets you pin locations, draw lines, and locate areas so it will work.
I've never used google maps before and it's driving me insane. How do i plot map points and draw lines? It's not letting me >.<

Well i was having a few difficulties as well, but what i did was put in the first point (i.e. Fort Smith) and then go "Directions from here" and a menu should appear on the left of the screen, with a Green A and a green B to input your destination. Underneath that should be a blue button- "Add Destination" click and continue to input locations.. thats what i am doing at the moment it appears to be working well enough.

I just used it first for this. The way I did it was go to google maps, click the "my maps" tab, the get started button, then signed into google, then name the map, and use the pin and line tools (on the map area itself) to place them. You can search for something and press the + button at the bottom of the locations thing on the right to reselect your custom map and use those two things together to plot locations.

4-1 is done (though I had to look at the JS code to get the second part, because I couldn't find a code that would work to reveal it), but I'm having difficulty with 4-2. I've drawn the shapes, and plotting the countries on a map gets me nowhere.

Any hint for what I'm ment to do with the code I got from 4-2? I'm schtuck!

Edit:
I put the code in as coordinates, but that took me to a national park in Russia! That can't be right!

Can somebody help me with 4-1? I'm colourblind so I can't see which letters are changing. I don't know if I even have the right codes to use but if somebody could PM me I would greatly appreciate any assistance offered.

For 4-2 I think what's throwing me off is that the locations in Angola don't make anything sensible on Google Maps. I get what looks like it's meant to be a 2, except the last point is way NorthEast from anywhere sensible

Oh hey, I figured out which code to use for the Terran part of 4-1. I am no longer overwhelmed by it.

Still struggling with 4-2 though.
Should I be in Belarus?

Man, I just don't get 4-1. I mean, I have the first part pretty much down, and have a set of... things to work on, but there is no logical reasoning for what the next step would be. It doesn't seem so much like a puzzle as it is just randomly guessing ways to work out the data, as opposed to the last 3 days where, so long as you actually thought about them you would be able to figure them out.

That being said, any help on that would be greatly appreciated. Not even gonna TRY to do 4-2 for the time being...

Then you got that last one wrong. I'm looking at my points right here on this map and it is very obvious what it should be if you got the points right. Try that last one again, and hey, if it still is acting weird just think of it as a 2, shouldn't throw the thing off too much if it's not.

"If we live by these codes three"

More than one meaning in this line.

I'm literally doing copypasta.

Edit: turns out there's two of them, and Google Maps was picking the wrong one. So... boo on them.

Well, Matala is almost due directly east and just the tiniest bit north of Namibe. I'm looking at the map right here.

Edit: Well, if there's two that may explain it. I got the right one the first time I tried putting it in myself so I was unaware of that.

Man, I didn't even clue into that until just then. And, I've even solved the puzzle. That's good, Escapist. That's good.

You've already solved it! Just think:

Where is that park located?
