Categories and nominees for the Steam Awards have been announced, and they're an absolute joke as usual. Highlights that stood out to me were Stalker 2 being nominated for Best Game when from what I've heard it's a Cyberpunk 1.0-level mess; Silent Hill 2 getting snubbed on Best Story; and Satisfactory being nominated for Most Innovative (it's a great game, but come on).

My understanding is that they take submissions from Steam users for each category, and whichever five games get the most people name-dropping them get nominated. Which in theory should remove any total meme picks, but in my experience the process tends to put a bit too much focus in certain places and not enough in others.
Stalker 2 for most innovative is honestly more egregious. Sure, been a while since the last high profile release of its kind, but Its gameplay is almost old enough to vote.
Basically user voted. And all the pitfalls that come with that.

I kinda understand the fighting games being in “Best Game You Suck At” given the mechanics, but is GoT really that difficult?
It is kinda funny seeing the reaction to the Intergalactic reveal trailer - not the gooners, but the people comparing it to Concord and other space games/movies - considering Naughty Dog's history. When Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was revealed it was for a good while lambasted as Tomb Raider with a dude (Dude Raider), and The Last of Us came out during the peak of zombie fatigue and was criticized for just being another zombie game.
Seems to be Naughty Dog's MO regarding new IP's. The difference now being I guess the outrage/drama farmers.

Ironic, because the latest Tomb Raider games were ragged onfor being too much like Uncharted to the hard core fans and a few critics.

I wouldn't say it was that bad, but I've heard that the vaunted A-Life system ("Artificial Life", which lets the NPCs act on their own goals even when the player isn't present) was completely disabled at launch because it was tanking the already-bad performance, and only now are patches gradually re-enabling it piecemeal.
I don't think it is hard, but "best game you suck at" implies a game you like and actually have played while games from a genre you never touch because you are bad at are out. There were some strange entries bound to happen here.
