Welcome! Welcome to Escapistmagazine.com! You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining Internet Utopias. I thought so much of Escapistmagazine.com, that I elected to establish my administration, here, in the Forums, so thoughtfully provided by our Moderators. I am proud to call Escapistmagazine.com my home. And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through to parts unknown, welcome, to Escapistmagazine.com. It's safer here.

Because I don't get to use it often enough.
ROFL I love it. *Steals*
I stole it from RottenButter who stole it from Richard Groovy Pants who stole it from....
someone....
The Story of THE OFFICIAL-ISH ESCAPIST MAGAZINE WELCOME SPEECH goes as follows:
Made by: Anarchemitis and myself.
Distributed by: Rottenbutter.
Put on the official "I'm New Here Thread" by: The Monopoly Guy.
The thieves of the speech: Berethond, Richard Groovy Pants, and maybe some others.

I'm gonna try to find the original posting of it...
How did I forget about The Monopoly Guy?

And Anarchemitis?
(I don't remember you I'm sorry)
Okay, well, more precisely...I don't remember forgetting you.

Well, that's just human nature. The two things that no one can ever change anyone's mind on, are the two things that everybody feels the need to change everybody's mind on.
That said, even the political and religious threads here are a few steps closer to real debate than just trading insults.

We trade witty insults.
No flame war is a good flame war. Honestly, in my eyes a witty insult is no better than a primitive one in a flame war. Both of them mean the same thing; you suck and I'm right.
Sorry, that last line wasn't meant to be taken seriously. I guess I should have put a little winky face or something. I do stand by my comment that the "flame wars" I've seen here lean a lot closer to real debate than what I would call a flame war. I get the impression that people here (not counting the ones who make an account just to piss people off until they get permabanned) tend to at least listen to what people have to say and consider it before dismissing it.

Besides, this community has big problems with trolls sometimes. People here type out paragraphs of text in response to obvious trolls, which is just embarrassing. It's like they think the troll gives a damn.
That may just be our version of dick waving. Seeing who can come up with the cleverest comeback to Obvious Troll.

The Escapist is not superior to any other website.

I'm sick of people calling the Escapist some kind of sanctuary of knowledge in the mire of stupidity known as the internet.
Thank you.
I mean, we're more polite than a lot of forums, but there are certainly other intelligent places on the internet. Besides, we tend to do a lot of bashing ourselves (rule of The Escapist: Teens are complete dumb shits and cannot do anything right. I joined to fight that notion), just with better grammer. The rest of the internet is also a very fun place, fan of memes, demotivationals, macro's (my avatar is one), and youtube poops I am.

As for the OP, youtube is the hive of scum and villainy. Before someone brings up /b/, I mean it's the place of casual petty stupidity on the internet. /b/ isn't just casual stupidity, it's more like a volcano; you don't want to be inside, it occasionally erupts (raids), whatever is in proximity to the eruption will be damaged greatly, but the ashes fertilize other parts of the internet and the lava cools and becomes new land.

Have you even seen TMG around recently? I haven't seen him in a while.
Also, I think I found the original.

I "wrote" it, and Anarchemitis fixed it to make it into it's current glory. And, yes, I'm aware I forgot the word magazine in the site name.

No, I haven't seen him around.
He disappeared...

And I tried to find the original again, I really did.
Just the one Anarchemitis had edited, but I can't find that one again either now.
I can never find anything on this site...

Yeah, I had to hunt through my old posts to find that. It took me awhile, so don't worry yourself.
As for the Anarchemitis Edition, he was Gonzo when I got here, so I'm not even going to attempt looking for it in his post history.

The most annoying thing is when you're looking for a post. And you look.
And the thread got deleted.

My first post ever got deleted. I felt so lame when I found out.

And I wouldn't expect you to look through five thousand + posts. Way too much effort.

That attitude is what I hate about this website.

These threads just inflate the ego of the community, which will be it's downfall.
I have noticed an increase of "dick measuring" threads, as I like to call them. I have nothing to fear, how ever, I am rarely mentioned in said threads so my ego stays down where it's supposed to be.

I was just watching a few YouTube videos and I looked at the comments. Everybody is just arguing, insulting the people in the video and other comment posters, calling each other gay, and other things. On top of all this, grammar, spelling, and punctuation are completely ignored. I'd just like to say thank you to everyone on the Escapist for being a bastion of sanity in an ocean of bullshit. Talk about whatever you want; I just wanted to make my feelings known.
You have to watch out for those Proper Nouns and that sneaky semicolon.

(You know somebody had too)
I AM VANQUISHED! *head explodes*
i spy, with my little eye, an incorrect use of the word 'too'!
i believe it should have been 'to.'

only because you had to do it. :D

FIRST!

Nah, I'm just kidding. But is anyone rather peeved when they see that on Youtube? The first hundred times I see it, it stops being funny.

Beat me to it. *shakes fist* It's more likely a typo rather than a misuse of the word; double-typing letters is pretty easy, especially on laptops, and noticing them before posting is sometimes difficult.

I don't actually find The Escapist to be any better than other sites, 4chan and YouTube notwithstanding; we focus on spelling and grammar to build and maintain an illusion of sanity and civility. Given what we're inevitably compared to, it's a pretty convincing ploy.

Starting a sentence with 'but?' Tsk. I do, however, agree with you. The day that there is no one banned for doing so on one of Yahtzee's reviews is the day I die of a heart attack. Satisfied. (...but not happy. I'm still dead.)

Reminds me of when I first got to the Escapist, I made a post complementing everyone here and saying that this website has on of the best forum communities on the internet. I remember the first comment said "Fail".
