Animals as Leaders: I've recommended that band to every friend of mine, soooo good. Progressive Metal trio, beasty muscicians.

Gojira: it's a french band, they play Progressive Death Metal, though some call theirs "Whale Metal" (cause of the lyrics and musical athmospheres).
Downliners Sekt: I don't know how's called what they do, but it's great.
65 Days of Static: Indie Rock maybe? Quite good.
Sumo: an argentinian rock/reggae band, probably the best argentinian band ever.

I've been listening to some Meshuggah and some film/game-related composers: Jerry Martin (SimCity, Sims), Matt Uelmen (Diablo, Starcraft, other Blizzard games and Torchlight), Jack Wall (Mass Effect series) Howard Shore (LoTR films) and Hans Zimmer and John Williams, but not that much.
