I swear to god one day imma going to be a brave manly man and finish this game. Everytime its the same story : i open the door , see the monster , i close the door , block it with every piece of furniture i find in the room and than i dont want to play anymore.

games i quit because i got stuck:
paper mario, the thousand year door. that shadow queen is seriously hard, plus i had borrowed it from a friend, so it wouldn't have been nice of me to ask to keep it for another week or 3 to finish it when i can look up the ending online
final fantasy 8. i have a very good reason for this one: the game kept freezing once i reached a certain cutscene, so i couldn't progress any further

games i quit just because i didn't like them:
shin mogami tensai, digital devil saga. boring as hell, everything is in various shades of grey except the character hair, the combat is unintuitive and clunky at the best of times, and the story is really, really badly told.
fallout 3. i freely admit that i am probably being fiercely unfair here, but the gameplay bored me, the setting bored me and i died a couple of times early on which sealed it. never even tried to play it after the day i borrowed it.
The worst part about the Shadow Queen in Paper Mario was definetly the mid-fight cutscene. Not only could you not skip it, but you had to keep hitting A to advance the text for what felt like at least half an hour. I had to let the game sit for about three months before I was willing to try again.

Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus...well I did complete it but not until a few weeks ago, and I've had the game for several years.

Would you still recommend it?

Looking for a some JRPG's for my PS3. And I find my lack of JRPG's disturbing.
Yeah, I'd recommend it. The entire game is solid, its just the story isn't very interesting (or at least to me).

Zombies Ate My Neighbors on the SNES...I don't know anyone who has beaten that game (And emulators with save states DO NOT COUNT)...Its just brutal with over 40 levels...Sure theres a save system but you don't get to keep any of your weapons or items (which can lead to being stopped by stupid skeleton key doors with no way of continuing) and an ABSURD final boss who takes TONS of Rockets and Panadora's Boxes to kill...Its a fun game, but way too hard...

[HEADING=1]HURR DURR![/HEADING]

[HEADING=2]DWARF FORTRESS![/HEADING]

Jak 2. Lame, I know. I'm at 95% completion, and I'm at this goddamned escort mission. Either I die, or that damned machine we're trying to transport get destroyed, either by my shot or by metal heads.

Every now and then, I crack open the case to the game and try again. And I still can't.

I beat the other 2...

Brütal Legend.

Maybe I used a faulty tactic, when going against the final boss, but I just couldn't keep my guys alive long enough to get new ones in there.....

sticking to games I've tried from scratch a few times over but haven't beaten yet after years of effort...

X-Com UFO Defense [PC] - I keep getting stuck, either swarmed by aliens, go into dept, every nation signs up with the aliens, or most recently went too heavy with high tech crafts and ran out of special fuel for them.

Body Harvest [N64] - When I was younger I tried with cheats, then tried from fresh, then tried again, and again. I can't get past damn Java! There's I think 5 time periods in the game and I can't can't get past the second. I'll try again after I finish some of the games I'm playing now.

Luigi's Mansion [GameCube] - The first time I played it I got near the end, tried the last door too soon, had to go catch ghosts to unlock said door, went back when I had supposedly the right amount, and the door wouldn't open at all, I couldn't even interact with the door, I think the game broke on me. So I tried again a while later with a new save, and just lost interest near the end. Started another game, lost interest half way through. I love the concept, Luigi ghostbustering through a mansion, but at some point I just can't keep going.

Hybrid Heaven [N64] - I almost was at the end, almost there, had a lot of fun with the game, then it glitched, froze, and I lost my data. And since it's all its been doing, freezing, sometimes twenty minutes in, sometimes an hour, I was having fun body slamming bio-organic monstrosities too.

Legend of Zelda - any - to be fair I've only had three, but I can't get past them. I gave Orcarina of Time to someone, so there's no more trying that. Manjora's Mask I still have, but can't get very much done, I'll have to try again sometime. and Link's Awakening for Gameboy I was doing well in, then got stuck, went online for help, used a guide, beat a dungeon, then I didn't save, and two hours was for nothing.

then the rest of my gameboy games I haven't played much, but through a few hours of each I still haven't finished

Battletoads - hard
Super Mario Land - keeping losing interest
Super Mario Land 2 - to be fair haven't played it too much
Ghostbusters 2 - I like this game, possibly my second favorite Ghostbusters game. Anyone who doesn't know it, you play loosely through Ghostbusters 2 as any two ghostbusters, where you control one and the other follows you, where you move through each level looking for ghosts to zap with your proton gun, then while they are stunned use the second character to throw a trap to catch the ghost. It's fun, simple, but I suck at it.

side mention to Persona 4, I've been neglecting it, I was playing it too much and got drained. I think for almost a week I would wake up, play Persona 4, eat, play, go to sleep, wake up play, repeat. Through out the whole day. Then I was raking my brain and scribbling notes on how to fuse missing personas.

Metroid Prime, got stuck on the last boss, never finished it, haven't yet gone back.
Ironically, I beat the final boss in one of my first few tries, but an early mini-boss against some wasp-things almost made me give up entirely.

Zak Mckracken. To be fair, I was very young when I played it and I had lost the vital instruction booklet. But certain sections of that game are not user-friendly. The "mars rover" thing-a-ma-jig confused me to all hell - I couldn't figure out where I was supposed to go.

Resistance 2: The Fourth time I was killed by an invisible monster because I didn't know it was there, I quit. Oh sure, once you KNOW the monster is there, it's incredibly easy. But the first time you encounter them, you've got about 2 seconds to respond before you're mincemeat.

Final Fantasy Tactics - the one for the PSP: It just went too slow. Every single move took far, far, far too long. The final fantasy Tactics games on the DS, THOSE I could finish. Not the one on the PSP. War of the lions or something, I think it's called. Couldn't finish it.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops: the PSP's nub-stick is terrible, and although you could customize the controls to mitigate that problem, I still didn't like the controls of that game.

Oblivion: Couldn't be bothered doing the main quest. Had no interest in closing gates.

The Witcher: Awful controls and relatively bad pacing and the story was very slow. I'm happy to say that the Witcher 2 is a much, much, MUCH better game, which I am actually finishing. Unlike the Witcher 1, in which I took one look at Geralt's "belly-dancing" stance, and burst out laughing.

Mirror's Edge: After the 7th time I failed a jump despite doing exactly what the game told me to do, I resolved never to bother with it again.

Left 4 Dead: Frankly, it got boring after a while, and frustrating. On easy/normal, it was too easy. On hard, it was way too hard. Luckily, L4D2 was released and was a much better game which I actually finished. Who said sequels were a bad thing?

Metal Gear Solid 2: Never finished it. I intended to, but I then watched someone else play through it pretty much start to finish and I decided that was good enough. I did finish MGS4.

Mafia II: Because that game is boring as hell.

Just Cause 2: Again, I played long enough to unlock the last mission, but I was burned out on that game after clearing so many villages and bases.

It took me almost 10 years to beat Chaos in Final Fantasy I
Non-stop?! Now THAT is dedication. Did you sleep much over the years?
In all seriousness, there aren't a whole lot of games that have a story mode that I wouldn't finish on principle, but there have been plenty that went straight on the pile after I finished it the first time. Games with reaplyability are the ones that make it into my 'frequent' pile.
Stuff I'm willing to play more than once would include Gears 2, Halo Reach, Saints Row 2 and whichever call of duty game we're currently pushing.
Games that I haven't been able to replay whatsoever due to shittiness would include:
Prince of Persia (the 2007 one)
Aliens versus Predator (the 2010 one)
Red Faction: Guerilla

Oh, the one game I could never EVER finish was Dark Void.
Even acheivement points couldn't drag me through that shitfest. I couldn't stand it. The only reason I still have it is because I bought it for £5 and would get about 50p if I tried to trade it in...

Heck, The story can be bad as long as it has good gameplay. Hell, I am half way trough Square Enix "The Last Remnant" which story is about....Something. And I still love it. I can ignore a bad story as long as the gamyplay is fun/entertaining.

Fallout and Morrowind. Because I am easily distracted.
Spellforce 2 because I installed the add-on and it fucked up the main game, which I had not yet finished.
Bioshock because I am never in the right mood.
And of course Minecraft.

There's two right now that are like that for me.

Psychonauts: I'm currently stuck in the Meat Circus. >.< Why did they have to start that level with a freakin' timed escort mission that requires precision platforming. I just can't get the timing right to get past the third part.

Portal: This is mainly due to my computer. I'm at the very end of chamber 18 where you have to fling yourself up to reach the exit. I manage the first fling but as soon as I try to shoot my next portal my computer starts lagging, I miss and lose my momentum and have to try again. I've tried putting the game to all it's lowest graphic settings, I'm playing in windowed mode and there's nothing else running and still I lag. I may just have to wait until I get a new computer to try running it again.
