but but I used spoiler tags on the image and everything to appease the mod gods though :(

I suppose in hindsight I should have added Quakelive, Europa Universalis, Civilisation, Arma and The Dark Mod...and of course there's always an annual playthrough of the Half-life series - ...also I suppose Uplink should be on there as my goto game when I have just a few minutes to burn...I'm also a sucker for falling back into playing Eve from time to time

OK my last post *was* flippant and low content (but I am reinstalling Deus Ex right now, so it was honest at least)

EDIT: I just realised that it's not really ONE game I go back to, but I have varied tastes ^^

Team Fortress 2, I avoid it as much as possible because it's so addictive to me, I love the art style and the feel of the game. I've got like ...800+ hours in the game though so avoiding isn't easy.....and I got the figures ....and a actual TF2 soldier grenader cap ........D: Say what you want about FPS being dumb or same-y every match played always goes different and is always exciting.

Sonic's Genesis/Mega Drive games, need I say more? Fun platform-y titles that you can do a level or two in and be satisfied between things through the day.

Final Fantasy Tactics, much like Team Fortress 2, the art, the style, the way you can experiment with all sorts of classes and load outs, and the music by Gordon Freeman do I love the music.

Saints Row 3, I've always been partial to the GTA games till 4 hit me in the face with social simulation nonsense. These titles kept me sane to be perfectly honest, in school I'd come home play for a bit and run over a bunch of people and just vent. Today I have a lot of issues at home some of you may know, so Saints Row is the new replacement for GTA basically, helped by co-op, MAN that is fun. Way, too much fun.

Dunno if Mass Effect series counts yet, I've played 1 a bunch for various reasons but I'm going through the series again, and finally, FINALLY got to play some Mass Effect 3 multiplayer with friends, it took 2 freaking years but I got some friends playing with me. Happy? You bet.

There's some I'm likely missing but I dunno, there's a lot to be said for anyone I think with games like these, complicated or simple there's always one game someone wants to play again.

When I have access to Xbox Live (meaning when I'm not at college), it's Halo 4. When I don't, it's Minecraft (360 until recently, when I got the PC version, which is infinitely better and infinitely easier to get sunk into).

(In the past, it's been various Pokemon games, though I think I might have finally overdosed for a while after playing Y for a solid three months straight.)

I replay games a LOT, the more I enjoyed the game, the more frequently I come back to it, but some of them I've been going back to for a LONG time, namely KotOR I&II and Golden Sun I&II. Good games, fond memories, always fun to come back to.

They just make the top of the list because they've been there and stayed there longer than my other favourites that I come back to, like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Assassin's Creed, Portal, XCOM, Civ, etc.

Corruption of Champions

One does not simply play that game the same way twice... and come out with the same outcome every time, technically...

Honorable mention seems to go towards Tag Force 4, since one of my friends keeps asking me to duel him in that game...

Breath of Fire 3, it was one of the first JRPGs I ever played so it is probably mostly a nostalgia thing. The dragon gene splicing system for combat still feels unique though and is the primary reason I like it more than BoF4.

I've definitely got a couple of go-to games I just can't stop playing:

Kingdom Hearts II - I can't even count how many times I must have replayed this game. It's one of my absolute favourite games, not just for the PS2, but ever. It's one of those sequels that vastly improves on everything in the previous game and it's just so damn fun to play. The lovely design, wonderful soundtrack and fantasically flowing combat keeps bringing me back to it and when the 2.5 HD ReMix comes out later this year for PS3 it'll go back to being one of my most played games.

The Pokemon games, particularly Red and HeartGold/SoulSilver - Possibly my favourite RPGs and ones I have a lot of nostalgia for. I mean, they're great games and they have such a fantastic game system that I can always find time to replay them.

Finally, my most replayed thing recently and a game I've recently discovered that I can come back to at any time is Skyrim. No matter how many times I beat the various quests in that game, no matter how many hundreds of hours I put into a character, I always seem to be coming back, making new characters and going through the game again.

Counter-Strike.
I quit playing source a couple years ago and a friend got me to watch the dreamhack winter tourney(2013) for CS:GO and I just felt that itch to play it again.
Even when I was younger playing 1.6/source I would take a break for a few months and play something else but I always ended up coming back.

Now my mates and I play matchmaking together and I haven't had this much fun playing the same game day-in-day-out for a really long time. Hell, I already have like 600 hours and it's been barely 5 months now.

Lots and lots of RTS for me. Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance probably gets the most love (and the most modding), followed by Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion... but I still go back to Starcraft (the first one), Age of Mythology, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, Dawn of War (again, first one only), Command and Conquer Generals, Battle for Middle-Earth (usually the second one), et cetera... depending on who wants to play or if I'm just passing time solo.
All of these plus Civ 5. Just one more turn has destroyed many a night for me.

Oooh!!! Yeah - I shoulda had Deus Ex on my list too! Forgot.

And I so do NOT get affected by the mention as predicted! Why? Because Deus Ex WAS ALREADY installed!!! :-D

I also SO have to single you out for mentioning The Dark Mod!!! So few people I bump into outside of the Thief community online seem to know about it - so BIG UP on that one!!! :)

Skyrim: No matter how much I play it, I always discover new mods that keep me going back to it just to mess around.

Far Cry 3: I love tropical islands, so I always find myself going back to Far Cry 3, it's just so much fun and looks so gorgeous. The game also has an awesome sense of progression, you really feel your character going from Joe Schmoe to Rambo as the game progresses.

Prototype 2: The sheer potential for just screwing around in this game is just endlessly fun for me, and especially now that the Alex Mercer skin is available (I never liked James Heller).

Grim Dawn: Even though the game isn't complete yet, I freakin' love this game. I still consider the "Create your own character" class system that Titan Quest and now Grim Dawn have to be the best of all the ARPGs out there. Plus I love the game's atmosphere and look.

This might be an odd one though I find myself often going back to:
Red Faction Guerilla.

The story isn't the greatest in video game history though the game is a lot of fun which many more recent titles seem to have forgotten about. It's a shame it never got a proper sequel and only got that Red Faction Armageddon trash.

Some others I keep coming back to are

Max Payne 3 - The action and story are top notch.

Tales Of Vesperia - One of the best JRPG's I've played in a long while. I found the characters relatble rather than the usual emo detached types.

FTL - An endlessly replayable strategy game, especially since being upgraded to the Advanced Edition

Zone Of The Enders 2 - Who doesn't like giant flying robots

God Of War 3 - Plenty of action

Star Ocean: Till The End Of Time - A great story, soundtrack and an almost endless game.

Dark Cloud 2 - Brilliantly charming

Batman Arkham City - Fantastic combat and graphics (On PC at least)

Lords of the Rings Online. I have a lifetime sub so I always wind up going back and playing for a few months, taking a few months off, rinse and repeat.

Civ 5 as well, not as good as Civ 4, but I still go back time to time.

Mostly the games that have strong stories and characters.

The Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragon Age, The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Borderlands 2, Bastion...

I find that if a game has a good story and fun characters, it goes up in replay value...like watching one of your favorite movies again, but more engaging.

Civ 5 lately, but over the long run it has to be WoW.

I'll lapse for months at a time, but every once in a while a friend will ask if I want to resub for a bit and I can't say no.
The same for both games counts for me. I never truly stay away from both. I have to look out with WoW though, seeing as I only have a limited data cap each month.

Just finished Assassins Creed and I am playing XCOM: Enemy Within...again. I used to play XCOM: Enemy Unknown in between games or when I grew too frustrated with a game but Enemy Within is essentially just the add-on pack. No matter how many times I play it the challenge is always different.
