Turns out you were the dog this whole time... Directed by M Night Shyamalan.

OT: Mine's dutch, and I do correct people on it, even my boss. It's people that say 'enigste' instead of 'enige'.

I've been called "David" so many times (my name is Daniel) that I don't even bother to correct people anymore. I respond to David now. When I was in school the first 3-5 times a teacher would read my name they'd read "David," and I'm talking about *every* teacher.

The entirety of the time talking on the internet when I was younger. I went back and looked at some of the e-mails I typed out, and I am just ashamed of it now. Ashamed.
This times a thousand. I can't stand reading stuff I've written out when I was younger. Every time I read something I feel like getting a rolled up piece of newspaper and smacking my younger self with it. My grammar skills and general vocabulary were just so appalling that I can't stand to read them.

One of my co-workers is incapable of tying the word "the" correctly so every ticket they send me looks like this.

"Teh main page needs to have teh logo updated to match teh design document. Please see teh attached file for reference."

Drives me mad.

The two that bug me are "defiantly" when they mean "definitely", and "I could care less" when they mean "I couldn't care less". If you say that you "could care less", you're probably hurting your own argument.
Ah, but if you are using google chrome to autocorrect spelling, it will always gives you defiantly, instead of definitely, thus some people think it's the correct spelling by how similar they are spelt.

You know a Chrome user sometimes, just by that even.

I really really really get annoyed when people substitute "don't know" or "do not know" with "dunno". For fucks sake, it's only a few more keystrokes.

You...
Must. Repress. Anger.

EDIT: In hindsight, it was inevitable someone would do that.
Logic is required here people. Luckily it is at hand:

EDIT: I feel I may have missed the point of that exchange. Well, better late than never. I'll wind my neck in now.

When people use apostrophe's wrong like I did right there. It's one thing to leave it out. I get it, whatever, if you type youre instead of "you're" or just don't use punctuation at all, fine, I get it. It's faster, you don't really give a shit, so I don't give a shit. But if you show that you care enough to go out of your way to use apostrophe's and then use them like this it just make's you look like an idiot.

Or really anything which involves going out of your way to sound stupid. Like when people actually say "WTF." It is literally easier to say "what the fuck" in its entirety than it is to say the letter "w" alone.

When people can't understand the difference between an absolute quantity and a rate. Or rather, when they think the two are one and attempt to derail an entire discussion with their ignorance.

You're not allowed to be a Grammar Nazi if you misspell "Rogue."

This is a really minor one, but it occurred to me so I'll post it.
The band is called "Foo Fighters", not "THE Foo fighters".

Every time you type 'alot', an innocent Alot dies horribly.

Think of the poor Alot.

Care about Alot.

Because only you can save Alot.

Really, this thread is just going to turn into people ribbing off of things other people say, as it already has to some extent.
It's true. You need to worry about that alot. [sub][sub]Yes, that was on purpose.[/sub][/sub]

Anyways, people who use "txt speak" drive me batty. I mean... really. People don't even text with "u" and "wit" anymore. Why are they typing like that on the internet?

Many things annoy me, recently "tho" as apposed to "though" or "although". In Evil Smurf's world, correct spelling and grammar is mandatory.

Also a PC is a personal computer, no matter the operating system.

"u" and the like. The use of such text speak in conversations that haven't been typed on a goddamn phone is damn near intolerable to me. If you do that kinda thing, I'll likely flat out stop listening to you, then and there. Granted, it has helped weed out some of the less helpful user reviews on metacritic...

I can tolerate most other mistakes. Even really dumb stuff like "you're" and "your", it's irritating, but tolerable.

When you use text speak with a fully functional keyboard at your disposal, you demonstrate that you full on don't care. That you are perfectly willing to remain ignorant.

I'm usually pretty lenient on most of that stuff.
That being said, there was *one* time that I had to correct when one of my friends spelled South Dakota wrong.
She spelled it DECODA.
And she's a 19-year old born and raised American.
I mean, I'm no English major (I bet I'm missing a comma or some nonsense in this post already) but I can at least name my states.

This is a strange one, but I've noticed that a lot of people on the internet are incapable of writing the word "woman". More specifically, they use the plural version of the word, when the context of the sentence requires they use the singular one, so instead of writing "woman", they write "women". Now, english is not my native language, but I'm fairly certain that is incorrect, unless there's some bizarre rule of writing that I'm unaware of.

I don't like it when people misspell words because they think that somehow adds to the humor. I can't think of an example, as I'm not an idiot and my brain doesn't function that way. And I especially hate it when people start spelling initialisms or acronyms phonetically, such as "Lawl" when they mean "LOL."

AND I REALLY FUCKING HATE WHEN PEOPLE ACTUALLY SAY "LAWL" TO ME, WITH THEIR ACTUAL FUCKING VOICE. I hate it so much it makes me type in all caps.

I can't ignore it when people in fantasy games, that allegedly can read the name of their own class call themselves rouges.

Its ROGUE not ROUGE. Rouge is makeup for people with no concept of where the clown/not a clown line is on their own faces. Rogue is the word you are looking for.

I can't tell you how often this idiocy is perpetuated. Go on youtube and see all the "let's play Rouge Legacy!" vids and sigh.

Even on page one of this thread, we have someone using the phrase "going rouge."

And lets not forget the famous Rouge Squadron from Star Wars. Sounds like a team of drag queens.
