Before I begin, no, I'm not on drugs. That's my qualifying statement, so you know this is going to be good.

I've been playing the 3DS quite a bit since I picked it up on launch a few days ago. I find it quite awesome, and the 3D effect doesn't bother me in the slightest -- no headaches or eyestrain or anything of that sort for me, not even when I play it for hours.

But there is one thing odd about it... even when I look away from the 3DS screen, other LCD displays are suddenly feeling pseudo-3D. I keep seeing text on my computer monitor like it's "above" the background, for example, and I could swear that Team Fortress 2 has depth now. A friend of mine noticed this, too, so it isn't just me.

Are any other 3DS players noticing this? I'm not concerned, and it's actually about as epic as side-effects get, but it sure is weird that my mind is trying to make everything else 3D now that I've witnessed an autostereoscopic display with my own two eyes.

I have to say that I saw the same thing after playing GH a lot everything would start coming away a little bit like the notes as they come down the screen.

Your eyes aren't used to unaided 3D. Now go play Duke Nukem 3D, and report your findings.

That would be an amazing side effect not gonna lie...I don't think that it will be permanent unless you play the thing constantly. And to be honest with you its probably just your brain trying to make things 3D because its aware that its possible. The brain is way more powerful then most people think...Its capable of amazing things.

I've had the same thing. It's almost as if my eyes and mind are tired of other screens and their puny number of D's and are trying to KNOCK IT UP A NOTCH.

Optomitrists ARE doctors.

I haven't noticed this. Seems pretty cool. Hopefully, it's not a problem, though.

This is pretty much what I'm theorizing. If my mind has officially seen what 3D games and 3D interfaces look like, it's probably being a lot more imaginative about how to augment 2D displays. It's kind of like how you get a sense of "where" you are in a 3D game, even on a 2D display, because your mind can sort of simulate the surroundings.

I remember reading something sometime back I think it was on here that most women cant imagine a 3d space as easily as men can and playing video games could possibly help that. I wonder if playing the 3ds can help that even more.

also brb need to go stare stare at a 3ds for hours on end to test this 3D 2D effect

I was going to point out that everything actually is in 3D, but woah, it affects all other screens? I can't wait to try the thing out myself, though I'd need to find a worthy game to buy for it first

I have the same thing, the text on this site appears to be above the background. At first it was kind of disturbing but I put it down to that 3 hour session of ssf4 last night.

I have been experiencing the EXACT SAME THING. I have been telling people that I feel like I can see my computer screen in 3D, but everybody thinks I am crazy. When I look at pictures on facebook, I feel like I'm looking through a tiny window and that I can see depth! It absolutely crazy. I have also noticed it with ads. Most noticeably when I've been looking through Netflix dvds, I feel like the covers are in 3D. It's absolutely weird. I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this.

I've got a similar story. Many years ago a friend let me borrow a pair of glasses with old school blue and red lens. Actual glasses. I wore them for the better part of the day. When I took them off I Still saw things in shades of red and blue. It was actually kinda scary.

I suppose if I was into drugs it would have been awesome.

As for the 3DS? I love mine, but I'm not really interested in the 3D. It starts to hurt my eyes almost immediately. Suppose it's just not for me. Thankfully a more powerful DS and those badass AR cards totally are.

That's what I was going to say. It's just your eyes getting confused.
