On a similar point, has anyone here tried making a video with fellow Escapists? That would be pretty cool.
I'd imagine it's been thought of, but it be hard to organize meetings to plan and perform when people may be of different time zone, have lives that have absolutely nothing do with each other, and distribution of pay also becomes an issue, maybe.

I would like to make a vid with someone however, perhaps a gameplay footage vid? Skits on multiplayer games? Voiceovers on singleplayer games and antics?

I'm sure if they had proper green screen and good coordination they could do something unique, playing off of the fact that they don't live anywhere near each other.

Say, if they wanted to do the opposite of Doomsday Arcade and A Good Knights Quest and have some geeks invade the gaming world. But it'd have to be unique of course.

Now that I think about it, that Pokemon submission from last year probably wouldn't fare well considering that new Apokelypse preview that's been going around.

Well this is pretty awesome. These annual film festivals are always pretty cool. I'll try to watch them all for reals this year.

VOTE FOR THE UNDERDOGS
WHATEVER THEY ARE

Curious though: Do we have to sign a waiver? If so, where's the link?
By submitting your video you are already agreeing to the terms of the event.
Oh, well I meant the legal Waiver. Nevermind though, I found it and got is signed (I am unfortunatly 17... Well, technically 16 till next Monday), so by the time I upload the video onto here, I should have emailed you the Waiver. Best luck to everyone, Including me.

Does the contest allow animated submissions? For example, an original sprite-animated series?
Yeah dude, my Submissions are going to be Cartoons. In fact, they give a special prize to First Prize Animations. Sure, it's not a contract, but it's something nice.

BTW, can we submit more then one series? Or can we only submit one?

This looks very interesting, but while I have a ton of ideas, being the paranoid person I am I doubt I'll participate.

Maybe I'll muster the courage to submit something, but for now I eagerly await other submissions. Good luck to everyone!

Every year, I see this announcement and I make grand plans for myself to actually get up and do something... and then I do nothing and watch other people win. So this year, I'm actually going to do something! Maybe...

And a small question... can I use music from a specific game and credit it to this game? As in... if I used a song from Metal Gear Solid and say "Snake Eater from Metal Gear Solid 3 copyright blah blah blah" could I do that without actually getting direct permission from Mr. Kojima himself?

Dear Escapist,

I think it's possibly clear to some that I'm still a little... bitter about the outcome of last years festival... What with the viewer's choice award amounting to roughly diddly-squat.

I need to know something.

If the majority of Escapees vote for a certain entry as their favourite, is that video going to win this year? Y'know as logic would dictate, or should I just not bother voting this time?

I'd like to avoid getting angry again when the video most of us spend days voting for wins 'second place at best' like last year...

With hope,

-Archemetis.
Im going to have to agree with you to a point, Good Knights quest just dident hit with me, it felt, laking, no real story and what not, the pokemon video was amazing, i hope they try again this year.

How do you feel about 2-3 entries for one person? I've had a few ideas, but I end up over analyzing and thinking its a clone of something here.

Hmmm... I want to educate people on the internet about the internet. I see far too many people (even on here) falling for trolls, not knowing what memes are, yet still quoting them and stuff like that. The only problem is that I lack a camera...

Ah well... Maybe next year?

Calumon: We're rooting for everyone!

I was wondering if images and names of consoles would be classed as a breach of copyright. If so I will re-think my entry idea.

Thanks in advance for your help.

no offence to a good knights quest, it was alright, but i thought But i did it in a videogame [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/the-escapist-film-festival-2009/1274-But-I-Did-It-in-a-Videogame] and pocket monsters [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/the-escapist-film-festival-2009/1185-Pocket-Monsters] were better
i hope we get just as good this time round, with a good mix of originality and plot. i need something story based to replace doomsday arcade, because the other things i watch (ZP, UnS, EC, ENN) dont have plots

EDIT: sorry didnt realise

I'm still depressed that the Pokemon guys didn't get the deal last year.
As far as I know, we offered them a contract and the show was in production, but they canceled on us because it was too much work to make it a regular show. Sometimes that's how it ends up.

Even though there's only one winner declared, we've offered to publish multiple series every year. I doubt that'll change, if there's something interesting enough.
doomsday arcade was supposed to be bi-weekly, but later in the series it ended up being a preview/episode alternating every 3 weeks or so. i would have waited a month to see another episode!

Come on Doomsday Arcade 2!

I'm just saying is all.....
If there was a function that allowed me to like posts or favourite them or become a fan of them or any of those silly things, I would use that function on this post. A thousand times over.

Anyways, best of luck to the contestants. I hope I'll find the time to put something together inbetweeen exams, as I'd hate to wait another year.

I don't think there are any specific rules against it, but I can tell you from experience that you're far better off picking the one idea you think is best and focusing all your effort into it. You'll be competing against what other people think is their best work, so you should make sure that you're submitting that as well.

Yup, you sure can.

You are only allowed to submit one entry, so make it your best!

I am wondering this too, as I have two ideas
Bring your best! :) If they are both good, flip a coin. One thing to remember is almost all of our video series at weekly. If you can't produce one of the ideas on a weekly basis, you may want to submit the other.

Please see above.

If you are just mentioning them, I don't think so. If you are basing a series off of them "like Mr. Wii versus the Legion of Xbox" and they are all running around as a Wii and Xbox, then yeah, that would get pulled down pretty quick.
