So I'm sitting here COMPLETELY bored out of my mind. So to calm my nerves (making threads is serious business) I decide to put on some music. Now the first song I always play before hitting random is Cliffs of Dover and everytime I listen to it, I say to myself that I could listen to these solos all damn day. Now if you don't know what I'm going to ask you next, what the hell have you been reading?!

I'll ask anyway: What is the one solo you could listen to all day long (not literally)?
P.S. Any kind of solo, not just guitar (flute solos ftw).
P.P.S. My 1000 post! Took me damn well long enough...

Comfortably Numb
Pink Floyd
World's best guitar solo

I'm declaring it here and now. World's BEST.

*I say "world's" best, because aliens might have better guitar solos. I dunno. I haven't heard much alien music.

Some ones gonna kill me for this but I love the solo to "In the garage" by Weezer.
Its just so damn melodic and smooth.

1. That heavy metal bullshit is not talented solos, it's "lets see how fast I can go up and down on the fretboard"

2. My favorite solo, thats a hard one. It's a triple tie between the song Jessica, The song Blue Sky and the solos in Ramblin man, all three songs by the Allman Brothers Band. Those solos are true talent, none of that scream shit.

3. A lot of my posts lately have numbers, congrats on the 1,000th btw.

BIG FAT EDIT: When I said the heavy metal bullshit part I was thinking of the song Clouds over California by Devildriver. My appologies as I too love Cliffs of Dover.

Words cannot express how much I agree with that.

o_O Cliffs of Dover isn't heavy metal. Not by a long shot. And it's very melodic... I know it's all subjective, but I have a hard time understanding how you'd see it as "heavy metal bullshit".

The solo for one by metallica. It KICKS ASS. I honestly don't know how a human being is capable of so furiously playing a guitar.

a good solo that comes to mind right away is the one from Fallen Angel by Poison, its very passionent and i like to describe it as if the guitar is crying. speaking of which while my guitar gently weeps by the beatles is also a good one.

these are just the ones that come to mind at first glance i could probably find some really good solos.

Words can't express how suprised I am to find another on the Escapist who thinks the same. It's like finding a parrot in a desert.

I thought this thread would be about how everybody should have a crush on the Addictive Han Solo.

Only Ash Remains by Necrophagist.

Not only the solo, the intro has some of the best bass I've ever heard.

And the outro is pure awesome.

Clearly, someone has never seen Casablanca!

We can make it about that, if you really want to.

"I'm Han Solo, captain of the Millennium Falcon and the only actor whose career isn't destroyed by this movie."

A few that come to mind are:

Funeral - When Light Will Dawn
Funeral - The Architecture Of Loss
Metallica - Fade to Black
Nightwish - Astral Romance
Judas Priest - Painkiller
Stratovarius - Destiny

Probably more that I can't remember at the moment, will edit if I remember.
