Really nice. The only crit I can think of is that the strings of the violin (or is it a viola) look a bit awkward in terms of perspective. But the drawing feels soft, clean, and very tightly handled. You've definitely got some skill.
Thanks! Criticism definitely helps. And yeah, I had an issue with the strings. They're too thick, too. D: Oh well. That was actually just made to test out my new blending sticks. Heh.

Finished this, or at least made it better.

Problem solved for the most part. The only thing I would do is show a bit of the back wall of the city and maybe add some more texture to the front mountain. With the texture on the back mountains, not having at least a slight amount of it looks a bit off. Really nice though. You've got the height and distance thing covered.

Hey, no problem. I'm this thread's resident critic and art rambler. I've never been one to use blending sticks, but that's mostly because I work with line, in most of my drawings, rather than tone. Plus I mostly work in ink whilst drawing so blending sticks don't work so well. Heh.

Anyway, here's my latest character design drawing. I have less information on my characters than someone like, say, Archemitis. I also don't have a fleshed out universe like Zemalac, but I do know that this dude is named Tulius, and he's a pissed off... dude.
The background is half-assed because its a character design so I couldn't really be bothered with it. I also realized the legs were super awkward looking because I'm awful at foreshortening feet so I did my cop-out trick of just fading them out into the background and claiming its atmospheric[footnote]P.S. Its atmospheric, not a cop-out.[/footnote].

I've been super-busy with Kerrick requests the last few weeks, but I did finally mange to get my new Halloween avatar done.
Once I'm done with my current requests, I'll probably try to do a project that's a little more serious. Maybe.

EDIT: ...And only NOW do I realize that I posted the wrong picture. >___> Fixed it now.

Righto, here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/user/CraigMetalHead

Erm, I was hoping for the shirt + t-shirt combo from the "Steve-ing" vid... it is buttoned haflway down and the long sleeves are buttoned just above my elbows. I also wear either black or blue jeans with a long black belt and a double chain wallet. My shoes are black skater shoes. Umm, I guess you can choose which ever facial expression you think is best suited to it. :D

Thanks man. :)

I was recently asked by a friend if I wanted to join in a little "short book" project about Halloween, the end result would be a book of some kind containing a lot of Halloween inspired creativeness.

Of course I've gone and done mine immediately.

The Heads a bit big, but I was going for a more "chibi-esque" style although I don't much like describing it like that and I'm still undecided about whethere the glow and smoke effect on the fire was really worth adding... But overall I was pretty happy with it.

Here is a small example of my 3d modeling skills. The rest of my work got lost when I had a major hard drive crash. :-( I am working to rebuild my demo reel and portfolio. I though I had back-ups but alas I could not find the DVD's. I am still going to texture it in ZBrush and Photoshop, but I have been lazy lately. Too much video game playing.

He walked into her room. She was on the far side, curled up against the corner walls. She was quietly crying, with pictures all around her. He navigated the wreckage of her latest episode, stepping past broken drawers, shredded clothes, and a shattered mirror, blood on some of the pieces. This was one of her worst outbreaks yet. He sat down next to her, stretching his arm around her and pulling her close. She started to cry into her arms and hands, where tears mixed in with the blood. He reassured her, telling her that everything would be all right, as he looked at some of the pictures in their broken frames. They were of better times, with old friends, good friends. At one point, anyway. Where were they now? Gone at the first sign of distress, like leaves in a breeze. He turned his thoughts back to the current situation. He stood, and extended his hand towards her. She looked up, and accepted it. After she got up, he got some shreds of former clothes, and covered up her wounds. They walked towards the door, holding each other and never wanting to let go. As they exited the room, he looked back and scanned it. Shaking his head as he turned back, he hoped that he wouldn?t lose her, and that she wouldn?t lose herself. Not again.

A short story I wrote for the hell of it.

Who exactly is Kerrick? Is he/she your own creation?

Easier way of hiding his feet: expand the magic glow around the staff. It looks sort of unfinished with the legs just cutting out right there. Other than that, awesome character.

Sorry, like I said, wrong picture.
Anyway, Kerricks (the race name) are of my own creation, in a sense. It's a bit of a story.

Very good idea. I will likely use that. Thank you very much.

Oh no, I was just curious because I've seen that design as a fair few avatars around here. And fair enough, I won't make you tell it.

Yep, I made all of those special for the people who requested them from me. I even madea a group specifically for said requests [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/SharPhoe-s-Escapist-Club-for-Kerricks-S-P-E-C-K] since they were getting to catch on so much. Since then, I've been busy, busy, busy.
