Didn't like Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed; prefers this years edition of WWA instead.

That's really all I ever need to hear from someone to know I shouldn't bother with them.

I mean honestly, you can just tell by looking at him!
Hey, I take offense to that! Just where do you get the idea of insulting someone simply based upon their looks? Reported!
You fail at HTML forever. It links to the profile page of whoever is logged in (profile/view).

So it displayed me when I clicked on it. Consider unreporting.
No I won't. The thing doesn't give any indication to that unless you go out of your way and specifically copy the link location. t]To any person not skilled in the art of HTML it seems like a shot at them by a fellow escapist, and that causes negative emotions in the viewer, like with me. Hence it is something that shouldn't be put up.
Well the joke isn't funny if you explain it. If he told you that it links to your page than it wouldn't be humorous, but on to the point. Your reasoning is that people will feel offended because he is targeting you specifically, but you have to wonder why he would do such a thing.

You might be wondering if he knows you? If he doesn't than why would he target you specifically? How does he know you? Now if you know him, or seen him post for a while you can tell that he is a nice enough person. Also if you've read some of the responses you can tell that it was just an innocent prank. Now I know I can't force you of doing anything, but i want you to consider unreporting.

Well, no... you look at the link location at the bottom of the screen (in Firefox, anyway). And there's the HTML box at the top with a suspiciously simple URL.

I dunno, it seems obvious to me. Most people here get it right away.
Yes, but that is after the fact. People don't any details for this until they've already been shown their own page, which makes them feel that this is a direct insult to them. Even some of our fellow escapists stated that had it not been for a random glance at the bar they would have fallen for this thing too.

Now I don't mind a joke thrown my way, but this came from a guy I didn't even know, and as I had no prior knowledge of his comedic properties, I had to take this a serious jab at me. Jokes should only be performed against an audience who knows the joker's style and vice versa, else it could be construed really making fun of them.

The kind of guy that acts like he is the best, while treating everyone like they do not matter.
The kind of guy that ditches his friend and hurts the ones he cares for.
The person who is inconsiderate of others around them, either by noticing their presents and not acknowledging them, or purposely doing things to annoy them.
Anyone who goes out of his or her way to hurt another is a "d" word.

I'm sorry, but what are trying to say here? That you can't even tell that what that was was just a funny prank. Or how you somehow didn't see that everyone and their mother noticed that it was a prank? Had you attempted to read any of the comments about that quote except for yours everyone has noticed this as a prank. I'm sure Pimpeteer had no negative intention by that link (He has hilarious reviews on this site).

I think it's best if you realized you are being less rational than the annoyingly stupid lawsuits we see nowadays and should gain either a thicker skin or a sense of humor.

You covered it.
If hooligans were outside my house, carrying on, I come outside with a gun. No, I don't shoot them, in fact, I ignore them. I target practice on bats that float around. There are alot. They get scared pretty quick and leave. Or I fight them. That also sounds fun.

How would you feel if a random person on the street just started insulting you? It could be a good joke in context, but at the time you feel pretty damn low. Pranks are meant to be played on your friends, as they know that you wouldn't try to hurt them, but a prank on some random individual can come off as just cruel because they don't know if you're joking or not.

I just do not like it if people know they are doing something annoying, but they continue to do it anyway just to annoy you.

I also cannot stand people who never let another person have their say. Those are the people who can care less what you think, because their opinion is the only one that really matters.

I also do not like to see my classmates wear their pants low. In my opinion, if your mom still drives you to school and washes your underwear, you are not a gangster so pull your pants up.

I do not care for bad words. I can stand people, who use bad words, but I really do not care for people who not only use them, but they use them in the presence of people like little kids and innocent strangers. That, to me, shows a lack of respect. I can understand letting certain things slip, but when you feel the need to drop several bad words anytime you have a public conversation, I have to say that that is simply way not cool. All that does is it tells people you have a lack of vocabulary, because you cannot come up with any better words to say.

Good thread. I was wondering though, would a person be counted as a douche bag if they have to top everything that you've done? Like, for example, if I say that I am a fan of a certain band this person would have to go and say that they got backstage and partied with them, even if wasn't true.

Or how about a person who tries to make you look stupid in front of all of your friends by criticizing everything about you? Would you count these as D-bags?

There is a major distinction. If for instance that same guy went up to 5 other people and said that same joke/insult within your earshot, if he then went to you and your the only one who gets angry, you are obviously overreacting.

Sorry if I upset you, but the whole point is that you see it and get confused but then see all the other responses and laugh it off. Whenever someone like you doesn't get it, I fire them a PM about the joke so that they don't take it seriously. I don't let anyone get away hurt. In fact I was going to fire you a PM, then another member told you about the joke.

Its a little forum comedy, something a bit out of the ordinary posting habit.

The average douche in my school sits and stares at you when you talk to them, then say (and I'm not paraphrasing, here, this is the exact response I've gotten) "All I heard was [word]. Why are you talking about [word]? That's kinda gay. Like people who aren't white." Again, no paraphrasing. I hate my life so, so very much, incidentally. Don't know why I bring that up, it just seemed to relate to this topic and the proportion of people like this to normal people in my area.

Again, even if the same prank is pulled upon other people, the negative emotions that you feel will still have happened. And while I now know that it was prank, it still does not change the feelings created for the prank. Each individual on first hearing it will still feel insulted until it is explained to them, and as has been previously discussed, a joke isn't funny if it has to be explained, just as with magic losing it's mysticism when you're told the trick. Now to wrap up this little discussion, the joke simply shouldn't have been put up because it couldn't cover for the different ways that peoples brains can work. And I did not over-react to the situation, because over-reacting would have been a hate post that would have included some very choice language that would have made a trucker blush. Mine was simply a statement of my personal feelings regarding the post, and that I had flagged it as something that I felt should not be kept on the forums, though by the amount of resistance I've had to the statement, I expect that it will be ignored anyway.
