Thanks a lot for putting this up. I'm still rather new to the Escapist site, and even newer to the forum section.

I have to say this is probably the most mature and reasoned forum experience I've had.. I would mention the partcular site where I encountered a lot of irritations, but that's for another time. The main problem I had were the "Forum vigilantes" ; that is, "good citizens" *coughsbusybodiescoughs* would become confused and think that *they* were the Moderators. Cue a massive dose of the flaming all round.

I haven't seen a speck of that since I joined, thankfully. Really helpful and informative.
I was tempted to type in "was banned", but at this stage that's be a bit hackneyed

It's rather scary to think that common sense seems to be prevailing in this part of the internet!

Wow, I really have to be careful of what I say on these boards

Just looking at the people replying to this thread I see trails of bans and suspension.

I come from wow forums where they are way more lax on bans and suspensions.

Still Im hoping for a cleaner board and so far the escapist seems very nice.

The thread where the guy got banned was something else though.

After playing far too much God of War III, I tried to kill my way up through the pantheon of Escapist staff for no discernible reason apart from boredom. Their power was too great however, and despite my own legendary Ultraness and Chaingun-Chaingun superweaponry, I was defeated. Our battle was so impressive and incredible that to fully comprehend it you basically need to freebase thermite while standing in the middle of a fireworks display atop a concert where Deadpool, Darth Vader, The Terminator and some Space Marines play Beatles tunes.

I am no longer a Moderator.

On a more factual note, I was not 'Fired', 'Sacked', 'Laid-Off' or 'Deposed' or in any way removed from the position due to any disgruntled or unpleasant feelings between myself and the Staff. I still talk with them and the other Mods. As for the actual details, that's for me to know and you to forever be less than a man for not knowing.

oh by the way, one thing i've noticed is that people who put the first posts on Yahtzee's video - related threads (the official "thread to go with the video" stuff) tend to be on probabtion or suspended... yet when I check why they've been put on probabtion/suspension (maybe even ban?), a lot of the time the posts are completely innocent... they just happen to be some of the first posts on a yahtzee-video thread.

Frequently because they post before they could have possibly finished watching the movie. After all, you can hardly form an opinion when the title sequence hasn't finished playing yet.

OT, this certainly is a welcome addition to the forums. Incidentally, your little message at the bottome just about made me start my own "Mods are evil" thread until I hit the quote button to check.

Don't worry, it happens every March/April for obvious reasons. The reaction last year was to add a truckload more Mods, and it might need to happen again this time around.
