I saw them on the Pagan Knights Tour in Hollywood. Best damn show I've ever witnessed. They somehow made a tiny House of Blues-style venue feel like the big stadium.

The closest thing I've seen to that was the gigantic pit during a Hatebreed show.

I'm seeing them in November (Melbourne), incredibly psyched. To add to my excitement, I recently found out that Lamb of God and Baroness are opening for them. Dear god.

OT: I'd say Pearl Jam, was unbelievable.

Seeing them in October. Can't wait.
For me it's Anvil. They aren't the biggest band I've seen live. Or the best. But they were just so excited to be there (Soundwave). For those who don't know, they've been through a lot of crap, trying to make it since around 1980. So they were so psyched to be there, it was just so infectious. And it was great to see a band enjoying themselves at least as much (if not more than) the crowd.

I've only seen two bands live-KISS and AC/DC. AC/DC were much better. I'm going to see metallica in November, so that would bring my live show count up to 3. I would like to go to more, but where I live, the only live shows are Parkway Drive or Confession or one of the million of local hardcore bands that all sound identical. I despise the genre, yet I'm surrounded by people who wank off to it.

Life isn't always fair...

Although I have a feeling the first and third may get blown away by Iron Maiden at Sonisphere.
If you're yet to see Iron Maiden live, you're in for one hell of a treat :D.

The best band performance I've ever seen was by Green Day *dodges thrown objects*.

They have the single most energy when performing their 3 hour sets.I can't imagine people leaving their gigs unhappy at all.

I haven't been to that many live shows, but Madina Lake were pretty awesome when I went to see them in April.
They are pretty good, saw them at a small 50 person gig last year, got to meet the whole band and get loads of stuff signed, was awesome. :p

Toss up between Rage Against the Machine about three years ago in New Orleans for Voodoo Fest and The Roots in D.C. about six years ago. They were both awesome for completely different reasons. Rage I was really excited for because they had just reformed. The Roots, well, I had no fucking idea who they were and I went to this thing to see Jane's Addiction (who sucked balls live) and they stole the show.

Edit: Oh, and maybe NIN, but only because the light show was insane. That was Voodoo Fest again, two years ago, I think?
I went so see Rage a few weeks ago. they had 100,000 people chanting "fuck Simon Cowell". It was epic.
I was there too!!! It wasn't quite 100,000 but I like your enthusiasm =D.

OT: Either that rage gig because I never thought I'd see them do a show of their own (but I was upset at how little time they got) orrr perhaps catch 22 in the Cockpit in Leeds. That was hella fun... Or maybe Springsteen... or the Who when Entwhistle was still with us... or Dylan...

Metallica for me. Unfortunately, I went when they were touring for their St. Anger album. So I had to listen to that shit, though they did then play some classics for the encore.

I wish I'd been able to catch Green Day last month. My friend had to go with her parents and she hates Green Day. Yet, even she left happy.

Porcupine Tree. They played the whole Incident album nonstop in the first half, then they played some of my favorite songs... All in a small venue so we were very close to the stage.
Yeah! I just saw Porcupine Tree this past May in Toronto and it was the same setup. Best show ever.

As I don't get out nearly enough, I'd have to say the half Ensiferum show I saw. The crowd waited through six hours of grindcore festival Ensiferum, and once they got onstage they did not disappoint.

I think this will be ousted shortly though, as I see Iron Maiden and Dream Theater tomorrow.

Hmmm, I have a few.

Dream Theater - Just the best musically live band I have ever seen totally perfect.

Machine Head - first time I saw them I was so blown away by the energy and humility of the band onstage.

May Contain Nuts - Ex-local band, have a "game-of-legs" pit where you sit on the floor and put your legs out, the aim being the person who's legs are on top!

Arch Enemy - Got a New Rock Boot to the face halfway through, didn't notice I was bleeding all over myself (thought it was sweat), came out and my mates were just looking at me like I was from another planet, and then pointed. Definitely memorable!

Dillinger Escape Plan - the main guy climbed the scaffolding and was doing upside down stomach crunches during a solo! Was amazing

Devildriver - Largest circle pit world record ....

Bleeding Through - Circle pit around an icecream truck!

Turisas - Amazing band and we "introduced" them to Brains on their first visit to the country! They remembered when they came back!

I've seen them twice. The first time was in an Indoor gig, which was spectacular. And the second time was an outdoor gig,the one thing about the gig that's always mentioned is that during their acoustic encore,it began to rain,Specifically during Wake Me Up When September Ends.It was the single greatest thing I've ever seen in my life.If you're a fan, you need to see them live.

James got Pie'd.That was awesome.I think this years Sonisphere is going to dwarf last years though, since it's now 3 days long and has Iron Maiden headlining it. :D

I've seen quite a few bands live now. Protest the Hero was pretty involved with the crowd, and the lead singer even smoked a joint someone threw up to him. I think that Disturbed has a great performance, and they have a great presence as well. Overall, though, you just can't beat Metallica.
