In terms of emotions raised during the show, it'd have to be Nine Inch Nails.
In terms of crowd participation, it'd be Five Finger Death Punch.
For mind-blowing songs, it's a tie between Machine Head and Slayer.

Although I have a feeling the first and third may get blown away by Iron Maiden at Sonisphere.

I haven't seen that many live shows so I'll go with Rush, Geddy Lee's amps were chicken rotisseries and the whole thing had a funny vibe. Going to the Alice Cooper soon, So I hope he lives up to his reputation.

Slayer, with original drummer Dave Lombardo. What an awesome drummer live he is.

Metallica put on a pretty good show... but then again so did Slipknot the 2 times I've seen them... mind you I'd probably have to go with when I saw In Flames, that was brilliant

I dunno. Mastodon were awe-inspiring, but they didn't speak a word. Cancer Bats, in a tiny venue, were brutal. Testament made the whole crowd a moshpit (so did Onslaught who were supporting, but it was their hometown gig). Airbourne were awesome and very, very loud.

If I had to pick, I'd say Thin Lizzy, for putting on an awesome show, and also because I love them more than I love boobies. And I love boobies.
were you at download 2010? cos i saw Airbourne and Cancer Bats there.
I wish I was, but no. Airbourne played the Colston Hall in Bristol a couple months back, and Cancer Bats played the Bristol O2 Academy a year or two ago.
Ah, i see. I think Airbourne are a close second for me, the lead senger is MENTAL. He climed up on top of the stage in the rain and played an awesome solo. I wish I'd seen Thin Lizzy, they are one of my all time favourite bands. Damn you're lucky.

Its a tough choice... so many good bands to pick from... so many concerts... but in terms of which band was the best live in terms of their performance alone... I would have to say either Kasabian or Slash.

I saw Kasabian last year and they were out and out the best single live band I had ever seen. Possibly not the best concert in total (Metallica and Alice in Chains still hold that title[Festivals not included]) But they were absolutly amazing. The show was so good they even released an official live video of their Vlad the Impaler performance.

However, I went to see Slash with Myles Kennedy last week and maybe its just because it is so fresh in my mind but that was probably the best band I have ever seen live. Myles Kennedy had a flu or something (Slash made some comment about it towards the end of the show) so he didnt do much singing, instead he just held the mic out to the crowd, for the most part it was almost like an instrumental show, which was awesome, because it was slash we were all there to see. There was so much energy in the show it was unbelievable. Slash is nearly 50 yet he put on the most intense show I've ever seen. And the best part was I was only ever a few feet away, Infact during the peak of the paradise city solo, he was on his knees right in front of me, literally just out of reach.

KASABIAN!...them or Pepper are probably the best i've seen so far :)
Damn, I forgot Kasabian. Vlad the Impaler was awesome with enough bass to make breathing difficult. The singer was great with the audience as well. Great stuff.

my vote goes to Brand New, and apparently their latest tour is amazing but i missed it for the first time seen them every time they have played in melbourne except the latest one.

They used 2 drumers and extra guitarists on their latest tour

I went to see Slash a few weeks ago and i was at the front too. It was awesome. He certainly hasn't lost his touch.

Nine Inch Nails.

Gig was going just as any great gig was, then suddenly Gary Numan came on stage and they all played Cars.

The Pixies were mindblowing, even if they barely said a word the whole show. Just sounded so good. And did 6 encores. It was an amazing night.
I second that. Pixies are my favourite band!

OT:
Bob Mould is another good one to see live, and Lemonheads ^_^

Hmm, I think I'd say In Flames, but I'm more than a little bias.

Difficult to say. Strange, because a band can be very good live, but if the croud s*cks, there is still no vibe. Let me try: Best band: must be rage against the machine (croud s*cked big time (standing arms folded)). Best croud: Therapy? at lowlands '98.

While I haven't actually seen them live, Iron Maiden's performances are absolutely awesome.

I also really like Pearl Jam live because Mike McCready always does freestyle guitar solos
