Gothic 1 was quite interesting. I quite enjoyed being pummeled by rocks after I banished a demon.

The New Vegas ending slideshow felt genuine and heartwarming, as it is voiced by all your friends from the wastelands and it reminds you of just how much of an effect you had on the world, however temporary they may be. The wonderful poetry of the quote at the start coming full circle ties to the key theme of Fallout, that the more things change, the more things stay the same. Its a rare thing to see an ending that made me smile and feel accomplishment instead of embitterment.
Oh no it's not like the fallout 3 ending where the game just stops is it?
I'm thinking of getting NV :p

OT: Probably MGS4, it wasn't exactly the best written ending but the scale of it made it all the more epic. It was like the entire series coming full circle for me (even though I got into it pretty late in the series).

Oh and Big Boss appearing made me cry because to me he's the "real" snake, as MGS3 was the first one I played, followed by portable ops.

Planescape Torment, Red Dead Redemtion, Monkey Island 2 (how come nobody mentioned it), Final Fantasy IX. Sad and thought provoking, funny and fairy-tale like, but all amazing.

What is the best ending to a video game you've ever seen? Mine would probably be the Good ending to inFamous 2, or Portal 2.
Honestly, I liked the ending of inFamous 1, myself. That kept me hanging on the edge of my seat until the very last possible moment.

It may or may not be my all-time favourite, but either way, it's the last one that I can really remember standing out so well.

I think I enjoyed Mass Effect 2's ending the most recently but I think that's because Joker flying the normandy all badass and firing an SMG makes me all girlie and giggly and stuff.

lol.

'Metal Gear Solid 3' was really fantastic. I didn't know what would happen and when I realized that a very specific action would not be played out in a cutscene but had to be done by me, I really had to pull myself together.

'Lost Odyssey' had a very bittersweet ending that I thoroughly enjoyed. It fit very well with the fantatic featured short stories and the overall theme of the game.

'Planescape: Torment' really felt like a thought provoking closure - at least on the game's plane. If you haven't played this one DO IT RIGHT NOW!!!

The ending to Homeworld.

Playing through one of the best RTS games, very well written with cut scenes that just drive you further. The ending is just brilliant. And after this ending you're greeted with one of the best rolling credits ever...

I loved the conversation with Kreia at the end of KOTOR2. It's the same concept as the fallout-ending narratives, but from an interesting character whose wisdom you've come to trust.

Sonic 2. When the station crashes and Sonic the Hedgehog is hurtling towards the Earth... Tails comes out of nowhere to catch him in his biplane.

I also really liked the L.A. Noire ending, but don't know how to post spoilers so wont go into detail. I will say that the finale 2 hours or so were a really great way to cap off such an intricate and intelligent narrative.

"So... There I am. King. King of aaall the land. And who'da thought that? Huh. Not me. I guess you know who these guys are now, 'cause I certainly do. I didn't want to know them, and yet, I may be king, and have all the money in the world. And all the land, and all that stuff. But you know, I don't really think I want it. I just wanna go home. With Berri. And I dunno, have a bottle of beer. Hmm. *deep sad sigh* Not gonna happen. It's true what they say, the grass is always greener, and you don't really know what it is you have until it's gone. Gone. Gone..."

*Bursts into tears*

The first thing that comes to mind is Sing Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne's neutral ending. That ending left me feel so... how do I put it... accomplished. Not to mention all happy and warm inside.
I really liked Hijiri and I hated that he died in the game, and when the music gets to the super uplifting part rightwhen you see Hijiri alive again... that was pretty damn awesome allright.
