there's a lot, but one of my favorite designs for a weapon ever is the sword Creed uses in Black Cat. (basically its invisible but it can lengthen and shorten at the will of the user, and its strength/sharpness varies on the users power/emotional state)

Best Fantasy Weapon: Virus Bombs from WH 40K, able to eradicate all living matter on the planet into piles of slush and then it turns into a firestorm at the slightest spark, need a whole world gone in minutes this here's your solution..

Best Real Life Weapon: The Human Brain, because you give an idiot a gun and he might kill a few people but give a scheming, creative and inventive fellow a gun and he can kill hundreds..

Not real:
Excalibur, especially this version of it, so much power.
Also loved the game.

Real: The sword, in general, best weapon in my opinion.

The Covenant Energy Sword. Truly a marvel of weapon design, so simple yet so elegant. I've killed many a filthy human with this.

The CHAINSWORD

How do you make a knight in shining armor even more Heavy Metal? Chainsword+Bolter.

As for ranged/real life weaponry, I have to say the AK-47. It's creepy as hell, but for reliably laying down kilograms of lead in the general direction of the enemy, I've had no better friend *sniff*

id say the Nihontou, Japanese sword. Its not perfect, as everyone seems to think, they did break, and chip and so on, but no where else on earth, was the making of the sword as revered as it is in Japan. The sword was one of the sacred symbols of the Shinto Religion, and considered an extremely important part of the religion because it was made using the five elements.

Swordsmiths were on a constant path to always improve on the sword, compared to the smiths that came before them. "The edge is the endless skill of the inventor" as was said by Kazuo Koike, through the pages of Lone Wolf and Cub.

Smiths gaurded there work with fierce energy. Theres a legend that the smith Masamune once had a fellow smith visit while he was making a sword. Even then he was renowned as one of the best swordsmiths in Japan, and while visiting the fellow smith dipped his finger into the water that Masamune used to temper his blades. He had attempted to break Masamune's secrets and understand why his blades were so much better than his own, and without a second thought, Masamune took the redhot, unfinished blade, and struck the offending smiths hand from his body.

I have a book, its called the Connoisseur's book of Japanese Swords. It gives an indepth view at the various shapes and types of NIhontou through Japan's History, including indepth looks at various schools and smiths. This list, includes some 5000 various smiths, and is largely an incomplete listing.

1500 years, of endless improvements and skillful manipulation of steel, forged in a fire of war and battle, and quenched in the water of rebirth, the Japanese Sword is amongst the finest weapons, ever created by human hands.

For me, it's a tossup between either the Gauss Rifle from fallout 3 and the Tesla Cannon from, guess what, Fallout 3

I'd say...Dustflier Summoning Staff. Best indirect attack weapon since it summons a nigh invincible That One Boss.

This is the human brain, it is more advanced than any computer currently built today and any computer built previously. It can understand abstract thought processes and can use a variety of communications methods. It is also highly adaptable to any situation and can make changes to its behaviour at a moment's notice.

If everybody used this more often, humanity will need no other weapon.

Oh... I see.
It's good for headbutting too.

So you're fighting Dr. Manhattan.

You kill him, he puts himself back together.
He waves his hand. And you explode.
And any army that might be with you explodes as well.

And as a weapon you don't even need to control it. Just say: "Kill those guys." and he thinks it and it's done.
Sounds like he is more of a person than a weapon.
So get out of my sight AND TAKE HIM WITH YOU!
Unless he's a bioweapon, in whic case i might accept him, but you still don't win.

Now go sit with the rest of the losers and CRY!

I played number 2 first, so I'm going to roll with the sheepinator. And I didn't much like number 1. And one of the only good things about A Crack In Time: its R.Y.N.O. Blow your enemy away while pleasant music plays.
I can agree with you. The Ryno from a Crack in Time was awesome. Take the most mainly firearm in existence, a gatling gun. How do you make it more manly? Put another gatling gun inside it. How much more awesome can this manwich get? Put another gatling gun inside it! But wait we are not done, you know what you do now. You put a heatseeking missile launcher inside all of this, and then make it play epic musics while killing things!!!!!! WORLD'S MANLIEST GUN!!!!!

Most of the Wunderwaffen could qualify. I'm going with the Nazi's Vortex Cannon, a device that could whip up massive turbulence to knock small aircraft out of the sky.
