for those saying 28 days later, it's NOT a zombie movie, the ppl infected with rage are not dead, to be a zombie you must be dead :)
Well I am still going to say 28 days later for being a gritty and almost believable (in terms of the scenario and characters' behaviour) zombie film.

I should also add - If Peter Jackson's LOTR was showered with oscars how come the acadamy overlooked Braindead?

28 Days.

Chilling enough, I thought. At least its atmosphered varied a little from 'OMFG RUN FROM ZEE HOARDEZ!'

I LOVE zombie movies -- can't get enough of them. The original Dawn of the Dead is my all-time favorite, but 28 Days Later and the remake of DotD get a lot of play time as well.

I also love Night of the Living Dead, Shaun of the Dead, and this weird Aussie film called Undead (which I still can't quite figure out, but it's good for a few viewings).

there's also the fact that Danny Boyle has said on many an occasion it's not a zombie movie, he'd know cause he made it

I've seen interviews where he does use the z-word, so there are mixed messages out there. I agree that it's nowhere near the traditional type of zombie, but I'm willing to lump flesh-eating psychopaths into the zombie bucket. :)

Yeah, but it still touches the category. I heard he will be directing 28 months later. Which will make it perfect instead of good (Talking about 28 weeks later).

I hated the Dawn remake and Land of the Dead. They can suck it. Zombie Flesh Eaters is good Z grade fun and Day of the Dead is brilliant.
I love the 28 x's Later series, moreso the first. But Night of the Living Dead takes the cake on this one. Sheer awesomeness.

Dead and Deader: Little known zombie flick. Good story and decent characters.

Dawn of the Dead (remake) I haven't seen the original but I be tit would take it's place. But what I'd really like to see is a zombie movie where it's through a zombies eyes with just probably about 20-30 minutes of back-story from the survivors so we get a sense of their predicament.

I really dislike Zombie movies and gore, but i saw Shaun of the Dead and i actually loved it. Now I want to see it again, too bad I saw it on Free to Air TV so I can't just watch it again.

Dawn of the dead remake
Return of the living dead (just awesome)
shaun of the dead
Dawn of the dead original
in order of awesomeness

Not land of the dead, a fucking starflower are you Fucking serious what sort of crap is that, Romero its been called a firework since the chinese invented them 5000 years ago and a firework it will be another 5000 years in the future dotn be retarded. The only thing more fucking stupid was the basement of zombie creation in 28 weeks later. Seriously you retake london after a horde of rampaging undead have kicked the living S out of everything there and your best emergency plan is to chain a stock store with a padlock and leave the back door open were they to steal a quote "Pants on head retarded". Heres and idea instead of spending all your money on easy to take out sniper posts invest in some steal security doors they dont have to be bank vaults they just have to be as good as the ones in my underground parking tahts all im saying.

Yeah

Zombie-noun - One who looks or behaves like an automaton.

so technically 28 days later has zombies in it, as do robot apocalypse movies.
Go nuts!
