i would have to say dawn of the dead for a serious one, and zombieland for a parody.

28 days later but his raises the argument that there not actually zombies in that movie and ive not seen zombieland yet so al go with dawn/shaun of the dead.

Zombi 2, also known as Zombie or Zombie Flesh Eaters by horror king Lucio Fulci. Its tagline is "We are Going to Eat You!"

If you still need a reason why this movie is amazing, which you shouldn't, here is a Zombie fighting a shark from that movie

Having recently seen it,Zombieland, with Sean of the Dead in close second. Z-land rated 9.5 on my personal scale with SotD at 9.

OMG! THIS!! I was getting really concerned that nobody mentioned Fulci. The zombie v. shark match-up is priceless, made even better by the fact that I think they just stuck a dude in a shark tank and told him to chomp on a blue to save money. Also some surprisingly good effects for the time and budget.

Night of course is a classic, but I think Dawn might be the better zombie movie. The key to the Romero movies is that the zombies are essentially stand-ins for any sort of epidemic or crisis that causes social order to break down and bare the nastier aspects of American culture, thus the first has a lot to do with racism, the second with consumerism, the third with militarism, and so forth.

I'm not a huge fan of the newer, fast zombies. I liked 28 Days Later but the whole blood-born neurological pathogen thing seemed like a McGuffin. Instead of just saying that there are zombies, if you get bitten by one you become one, and no one knows why (which I think is scarier), they said that people turn into mindless chompers who spread "rage" as a disease by chomping or bleeding on you. Like zombies. But they're not zombies. That said, of the new breed, I'd say it's a toss-up between 28 and the Dawn remake for me. Zombie babies are tough to argue against.

I would also argue that Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees (especially Jason) are effectively zombies, and therefore those series are zombie movies.

I LOVE Braindead!

"There's some dettol in the jeep!"

Classic.

Planet Terror and Shaun Of The Dead are awesome, but it has to be Night Of The Living Dead.

Or Zombie Strippers...

Zombie Strippers, hands down.

Jokes, I'd say 28 Days Later, or Shaun of the Dead.

I can honestly say i didn't think much of zombie strippers before i saw it. But i liked the satire in it. Sean of the dead was funny but I think zombieland was funnier. My clear fav zombie movies though would have to be 28 days/weeks later. I heard that they were thinking of making another one and i really hope that it's true.

I know I'm gonna get my head bitten off for this one, but I thought in the realm of zombie parody, Zombieland was much more to my tastes than Shaun of the Dead. Don't get me wrong, SotD was frickin' kick ass, but they did some things that put me in the awkward chair too often.

One was that they had at least three "touching" moments that were completely opposite to what the film was trying to accomplish. It's like reading a web comic that is known for it's slap-stick and wackiness, and then, one week, the throw in a comic where the main character's friend dies of aids or something. It's awkward and you feel bad about yourself which is exactly not what I wanted to feel while reading it. Zombieland did have a "touching" moment, but it was short and immediately ended with an appropriate joke so everyone is feeling just fine.

It kept things funny. All fun all the time. Pretty much any way you could have fun in a zombie apocalypse and no touching moments, serious tension, explanations of what's happening, or anything else to break up the fun. That's why I loved Zombieland.
Totally agree, as much as I love SotD, I thought Zombieland was far better as a Zombie Parody movie. That and the fact that the "touching" moment in that nearly had me in tears, and then made me laugh at nearly the same time.

I'm at a standstill.

Dawn of the dead was excellent, but Night of the Living Dead was the ultimate experience due to the breathtaking steps the director took. A black hero? An ultimately bad ending?

why do people keep saying shaun of the dead?

Its a comedy with zombies attached, not a zombie movie...and its like...good...but not AMAZING

OMG HAHAHAHA HE IS BEATING UP A ZOMBIE TO A QUEEN SONG THAT IS SO RANDOM LOLOLOLOL

thats not funny...random things are not funny

best zombie film, 28 days later

zombieland was also good...but its a comedy so i didnt really take it seriously as an actual zombie film
