Another great job Bob!!!
But I'm starting to think that maybe "The Big Picture" should just be re-branded as a comics only video series.
A good number of the episodes are already under the "Comic Are Weird" sub-series, and those episodes are not only the most interesting but also the best in terms of information since your really seem to know your shit when it comes to comics.
Just something to think about.

Is Marvel REALLY so desperate to keep the trademarks to "Captain Marvel" that they're willing to make up stories that no one cares about just to keep the name?

Either way, DC's Captain Marvel seems WAY better, and has a much more awesome costume!

Alright Bob, I appreciate these episodes and realize this is your soapbox but... Could we step out of the Comic Book store for a bit?

Along with comics, the recent animation and video game releases that feature captain marvel also contradict himself, in the captain marvel animation, our hero sees shazam once and then can never see him again, while in the video game Mortal Kombat vs Dc universe shows there is some sort of temple. Also in the animation captain marvel is very confident and full of power equaling his strength with that of super man while in the video game, he takes him self as weaker than super man, and that super man is the god that will save humanity, while captain marvel with equal strength can't so much as lift a finger.

Welcome to my head
Your head is messed-up Bob
But then again so are comic books.
One day things will get really weird, when japanese manga enters this show. I knew about the dispute, but not about how weird was Cp Marvel (both) comics were.

Wow. And here I was fully convinced they made up the Marvel family solely for that one comic where Bat-mite and Mr.Ihavenofuckingideahowtospellhisname (the Superman villain) travel through the different DC dimensions cracking jokes and killing all superheroes and villains with weaponized Wile E. Coyote props.

Yeah, they stuck Captain Mar-vell in the recent Avengers cartoon for an episode. Marvel aren't going to win, but they'll never say die.

Wait, so the "shazam" Captain Marvel isn't owned by Marvel?
Nope...the company Marvel was made after the super hero Captian Marvel(the cool one who is the little boy)

okay... so... can you then explain to me why in the trailer (the full pre-rendered) DC-universe online, on the "Lex Luther side", why is "Cap-Marvel (the DC one, of course)" on the bad guy's side? because I AM SOOOOO SURE that B4 the "NUKE BOOM", he said "SAHZAM" then "BOOM" it went... WHO WAS THAT ONE? it can't be the "kid" could it?

Nice informative episode by the way...

Captain Marvel, meet Captain Marvel.

Watch Video

You don't seem to like Captain Mar-Vell or Ms. Marvel a lot?

Kind of a shame, becasue they are two of my favorite Marvel Characters.

But yes you forgot a few incarnations of the Marve Captain Marvel:

During Secret Invasion there was a Skrull that believed he was Mar-Vell for real, so he is considered one of the Captain Marvels. Also Ms. Marvel Went by the name during House of M.

Havent read the latest ot he cosmic marvel stuff, but last I saw there was an Evil Alternetive Universe Captain Mar-vell running around.

Holy shit.

I finally get that Robot Chicken joke now.

God I love superhero comics. They're the stupidest things ever printed, but it's damn fun to admire how strange they can get.

That was Black Adam, a DC villain/occasional anti-hero who shares his powersource and magic word.

It makes sense, though, that Marvel Comics would be the one owning the trademark to Captain Marvel. On the other hand, DC's Captain Marvel (in my opinion the REAL Cap) deserves more attention among comic book fans than he does.

For more reading about Capt. Marvel, here are some good stories he's in:
-52: Where Marvel makes several guest appearences with one of his villians, Black Adam, who's one of the stars of 52
-Shazam!: Monster Society of Evil
-Kingdom Come: Where the Capt gets brainwashed and made into a pawn of Lex Luthor; also a great story in and of itself, and it occurs in an Elseworlds universe, so there's no continuity to sift through

Bob. I'm going to stop watching your shorts if you keep filling my mind with UTTERLY useless information. Seriously. I've probably unlearned something important to make room for that shite.

Honestly I love Bob's opinions on Pop-Culture, Comics, and ESPECIALLY Movies, but when he tends to veer away from those things to talk about politics and surprisingly even videogames, he gets biased and tends to forget the difference between opinion and fact. Kinda like Dennis Leary. At one point his comedy was dark and edgy, now he just kinda sounds like a cranky old man, and it's disappointing and kinda embarrassing for me to call myself one of his fans.

I like Bob, and his COMICS ARE WEIRD episodes. IMHO they keep him from becoming the Glen Beck of Escapist ;)

Great Stuff as usual Bob. I REALLY enjoy your "comics are weird" videos. I really enjoy reading comics, but it starts getting really convoluted when i start straying from the only hero i truly know, Spider-man. Its hard trying to get into other heroes for me and especially hero team ups because of back story. You make it simple, to the point and entertaining, with your wit.

Oh and do a Ms. Marvel one. I read some of her newer comics (2 year old comics are newer to me lol), and i like the character, But Her back story escapes me.
