Walking horse with a shotgun? I like how certain things on 80's cartoons make reflect on the utter ambivalence I currently have on them....

Still... isn't an anthropomorphic horse with a firearm just an awesome concept?

It amazes me that kids today think this is super weird, I guess growing up seeing stuff like Manimal, [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ugb_TIpPoWA] Automan, [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lloeUkQ1m8&feature=related] H.R. Puffinstuff, [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5e9yCB-hiw] and Gallactica 1980 [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbweBDnViyA] just Bravestarr so much ho hum...

Also because of the News post about Delta Force copyright I remembered Megaforce! Barry Bostwick with a beard as Commander Ace Hunter!

Oh, I just wanted to say good-bye and remind you that the good guys always win, even in the eighties.

That's funny, the instant I saw the image for the video I thought "Holy crap, I remember Bravestarr! ...wait, what's 'Lawstar'?"

Time is ever-changing....

As abso-freakin' awesome as that picture is, the botched perspective on the shotgun just makes my eyes sad.

Don't forget Night Man! Jonathan Chase (from Manimal) had a more than cameo appearance on that show, along with his daughter. Simon MacCorkindale for the win. And some place released Black Star on video. He was another Native American character (an Astronaut) who got taken to another universe and ended up on a fantasy world with a magic sword. I don't recall if they gave him Super Native American powers, but the character's full name was John Blackstar. It shares with Bravestar a world of weirdy short aliens (who kind of looked like D&D gnomes) who needed his help to remain free from a tyrant who wields the PowerStar Sword, which somehow gets split into the StarSword (which Blackstar is given/carries/wields) and the Powersword, which the baddie retains. And the StarSword is good-aligned, and the PowerSword is evilly-aligned, of course.

But to really go for 80's WTF-ishness, my money is on Thundarr the Barbarian. A mix of Conan (Thundarr, of course, and the Sorceress Princess Ariel), Star Wars (Thundarr's companion Ookla the Mokh and his Sunsword, which was pretty much a lightsaber, only it looked like flames rather than a bar of light), and Post-Apocalypse stuff (set in a future, ruined earth where the moon was broken in half, magic was technology/worked, and wizards ruled.

And this is the opening to Blackstar;

HOLY CRAP! I just looked into this show last week after hearing part of the main theme in this awesome Cartoon Medley:

Love seeing another FreddeGredde fan (or maybe you're not, in which case you (and everyone)needs to watch his Wind Waker medley and Solace Distance)

OT: Has Bob seen literally every TV show EVER?

I wish my horse could do that on Skyrim.

This vaguely reminds me of a sci-fi dinosaur cartoon I used to watch. All I remember is that humans would tame dinosaurs and (I think) communicate with them with these magic pendants they had. The dinosaurs also had lasers attached to them.

<.<;

Edit: DINO-RIDERS! Huzzah!

You want to know one 80s cartoon that was as awesome as it was easily and undeserving-ly forgotten? Look up C.O.P.S.

And no it had nothing to do with the reality show Cops that came way latter.

Native American goes to space, saves world. Acts as a law enforcer on a distant planet.

Prey and Prey 2, much?

Speaking of Prey 2, any news on what's going on with that? I've been out of the loop recently and I was really looking forward to being a bad-ass bounty-hunter on an alien planet.

Wow, I didn't realize that the game in 'the Trenches' was a take on a real show, and I actually grew up in the 80's. Too funny.

AH yes I remember Bravestarr also a lot of the other cartoons shown there, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ( Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles in the UK for some reason), M.A.S.K( mobile Armoured Strike Kommand (don't ask)), Centurions, Gobots (Transformers ripoff), Thundercats, G.I. Joe, Visionaries, Dino Riders, Gummi Bears, Thundarr, The REAL Ghostbusters, Voltron, Transformers, Duck Tales, COPS, Care Bears.

Though the one that stands out for me as the "What drugs was the person who thought of this on" was the Rambo Cartoon series o_O (yes it was as bad as it looks)

Intro :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eliQEStzhu4

Before I forget Bravestarr wasn't the only Wild West themed cartoon from the 80's there was also The Galaxy Rangers.

Intro :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3EoBl5uBfU.

Probably a few I forgot, but I was only 5 in 1980 ;).

Here is hoping that now G.I. Joe, Transformers, Thundercats and He-Man have had a revival and update that Centurions and M.A.S.K. get a live action film or an animation revival and update :D.

That's the late Mark Daily of Citypulse news, narrating that opening.

He was the voice of the character "Bulletproof" Vess in the series.

My God! the nostalgia! it's... overwhelming!

I must confess, I loved Bravestarr back in the day, and more obscure shows like The Centurions and TigerSharks (basically Thundercats, but underwater). "They" should totally ruin my childhood further by scraping the bottom of the 80's cartoon barrel in an attempt to recapture my disposable income. Actually, with a little TLC and some tweaking, a bunch of the "obscure" 80s cartoons might make interesting modern properties... though most people won't remember the originals and think they're rip-offs of the newer stuff that ripped them off initially.

...damn kids not knowing things... /fistshake

There was an attempt to redo "Thundercats" some time ago, with, from what I remember, a grown -up Wilykit and Wilykat as slaves of Mumm-Ra. I honestly don't recall more of it than that, and it was a comic, not a TV series...
