Why do they feel the need to make it bigger? I think the PS3 proves its a bad idea to make them bigger than necessary.

It is. At least with the Xbox Elite they fixed all the issues like the red ring of death, the game destroying ring, and a few other problems.

That was a rumor that it fixed the RROD, there still were lots of RR'd elites the only perks were the bigger HDD and the HDMI port at the time.

I heard they'd fixed it but at least reduced it better than nothing eh!
The HDMI port was a good idea on their part though.

Yeah the HDMI port is great, I'm more happy that they decided to put it in all units after.

Actually, rumor has it that black Wiis are significantly larger than white Wiis. This is why a lot of people want black Wiis.

A black Wii would be nice, but nothing can beat the awesomeness that is this Conduit-themed Wii.
Say what you will about the game, but that console is just epic.

If it's $200 like the regular Wii's (in America) then I see no reason to complain, other than the fact that this should have been done way way sooner. I would've loved to have owned a black Wii.

What I'd really like are some great quality games to look forward to. So far I only have 2, that's a shame.

The Wii does have some great games on it: No More Heroes, House of the Dead, and Zelda, soon enough Tatsunoko vs Capcom. If it's in your desired price, you don't have a wii, and you like black; I say go for it. If it also comes with a black wiimote, I can see how it can be kinda cool.

Nintendo has been doing this since the N64. That was initially only available in black, but late into it's life it was available in several special variants, as well as 5 different transparent coloured versions.

The gamecube was similar. (though purple and black dominated over anything else), and the handhelds have been much the same ever since just after the release of the very first gameboy.

It's a shame it's taken so long with the Wii though, given they were showing other colours at launch.

I could care less about the console itself, but I really wish they had released coloured controllers by now. The N64 controllers came in 5 colours even at launch, and unlike with the console itself, there is in fact a practical use for different coloured controllers, since it makes it so much easier to tell them apart.
(it would be especially useful given that I have some synced to my PC rather than my Wii console.)

I have to say, I really thought "The Black Wii" was going to be about something completely different.

With that overused pun out of the way, I still don't understand the appeal of the wii in general, so I don't think a color change is going to improve the status of the garbage generally called software that's sold for that particular console.

the fact that excluding Mac hardware, you are generally going to have black and silver electronics
