Left 4 Dead. hardly any game depth but its probably the funnest thing ive played all year.
Helicopter; Reach Hospital; Shotgun; ZOMBIES!; BIG ZOMBIE!; Crying zombie?; ARGH HELP ME! SHES TEARING ME APART; Dibs on the turret! ; SLOW ASSED DOOR!

That's my assessment of the demo for now :3

Most awesome MP game I've played in a while.
No doubt. I was playing the first time and this conversation played out (player names replaced with the characters):
[Zoey] Hey, I think I hear crying?
[Bill] Shit, turn your flash light off!
[Zoey] We have flash lights? Sweet!
[Bill] Oh god no.
[Zoey] Hey looks its a girl ....
*Screams and gunfire*
[Zoey] Sorry. Someone give us a hand?

Oh and my other favourite so far:
[Player] I know it says don't shoot the car but what happens if I jump on it.
[Other players] OH GOD, NO!!!

I think its title was Redneck Rampage. Damn that game was fun. Also I am a huge fan of the Dynasty/Samurai Warriors series even tho they are all exactly alike... Btw the frog in Starfox I used to shoot him down as soon as he appeared. He got on my nerves that much.
Yeeeehaw! I loved Redneck Rampage. At the time it was too hard for me to finish without cheating, as I was about 11 or something, but now I need to go dig that out. That was a hella fun game.
The only game that it was possible to regain health by yelling "Yeeehaw!" every now and then.

Counter-Strike. Nuff said. I can't stop playing the game and I hate it.
You have, my friend, a common disease among gamers. Do not start playing WoW or you will never be able to stop.
Actually... I stopped for a while... but then was too bored so I started again. I will never play wow unless someone ELSE pays for it. :D

Dynasty Warriors is a contender, as are Crackdown and Psi-Ops. I think the winner is the original Drakengard: I actually beat the first level 3 times while on the verge of sleep. It's that easy.
Drakengard was really easy...until the final boss and their rhythm rings of doom...but either way, that was the game I played when I wanted mindless slaughter.

Saints Row 2
Timesplitters series.
Gears of War (When you just need to kill some goddamned aliens)
Starwars: Battlefront Bot Mode (when you just need to kill some goddamn storm troopers)

Gears Of War.
Halo.

Amongst others.
Not to disagree with you as such, but just because they're geared toward a brainless audience and provide brainless fun does not mean they're completely vapid. The architecture in Gears of War would bring tears of admiration to many a grad student, and while flawed, the Kryll worked well as homage to Pitch Black, and you can't fault a game for employing thesaurus attack words like lambic and throwing in references to real world geography (The Jacinto plateau in Gears is in reference to the sky island formed by the San Jacinto mountains in California.)

Halo, likewise, has the recurring number games regarding 7 (the seven rings, seven blades on the Ark, powers of seven serial numbers for the Monitors, etc, references to Roland/Arthurian motif, cities wrecked by HUMAN weapons heralding the fact that humanity was at war with itself before the aliens showed up(New Mombasa), and the terminal subtext.

As to games which are actually brainless fun while being pretty brainless themselves, I'd have to nominate God of War. Admittedly, they're making use of Greek myth, but they do so in the loosest possible way as a flimsy pretext ladder for Kratos to get places and KILL things. There was also a Serious Sam clone called Will Rock which featured the hero's girl being kidnapped to give to Zeus; thus you spend the rest of the game shooting minotaurs, skeletal warriors, satyrs, and harpies with bows, shotguns, sniper rifles, acid launchers, and so on.

I'd say Dead Rising can be pretty brainless (no pun intended), seeing as it's a game that you can lawnmower zombies down :D

I thought that Legendary would also make an entry here, but after seeing this [http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/legendarythebox/review.html] I seriously doubt that it will be cool. Just brainless.

Garry's Mod. Put an infinite mode cheat, use the rocket launcher on a pile of monsters you just spawned, and KA-FUCKIN'-BOOM! Your computer starts lagging, and it shows an infinite list of the monsters you just killed.

PS. Antlion Guards are not compatible with this product.

I used to play Dead Rising for brainless fun (no pun intended). Just grab me a parasol and go charging through hordes of the undead. No skill, no finesse, just flattening the undead with furniture.

This. Looks like Serious Sam's younger brother.

The Force Unleashed. Just unlock the black sabre crystal and the Sith Stalker armour before restarting the game on the lowest difficulty. Then try to devise the most malevolent ways to kill people.

For example:
-Throwing their eletrocuted bodies directly upwards and watching as they smack back into the ground.
-Impaling, eletrocuting and then force pushing someone you're gripping.
-Smacking them to death slowly but surely on the floor.
-Igniting the fuel packs of the blasted jet pack troopers.
-Using force repulse in an enclosed space with lots of crates in it.
-Obtaining a 'health drain' sith holocron and watching squads of storm troopers wilting before you.

Ah. The humour of sarcasm is somewhat lost in a medium when you can't hear anyone's tone of voice.

Maybe someone should create a forum with voice clips!
