Cleveland gets nuked.

Which means Cleveland will look and act almost entirely the same.

I mean really, have you ever been there?
You win my favorite comment of the day award. It's in the mail.

OT: Depending on whether you're talking about major city or not, I'm either Fried or Fried. I'd be dead either way.

----NEWFLASH-------

Modern day nukes have VERY little fallout. Unless it's the same nuke type from the bombing run of Hiroshima, the fallout will most likely do nothing.

The edge of the nearest city is about 300 yards from the edge of my town.

The distance between my house and the last place it was bombed is about six miles so I'd probably be killed fairly quickly.

If Canterbury in the UK is classed as a city, my Uni would be gone, and i'd probally be dead from the fallout. Otherwise I'd be safe as nearest one to that is quite a distance away.
I'm at that Uni too! Unless you're at Christchurch in which case you're my enemy! Enemy!

Of course, same rules apply for my death here too.

Unless I'm at home, in which case I'm fine, no cities within 30 miles.

It would probably affect me in more ways than I can name, because I live next to Washington DC-U.S.A.

And I notice most people overestimating the size of a nuclear blast. Check this:

Nice, with the nearest city being around 40 miles away here it looks like with a bit of luck I might even make it through a Tsar Bomba.

There's another city an hour in the other direction, so I could still get food and such.

Oh god! I just moved from the city next to one I'm in now! Everyone I ever knew! Eh, I never liked those guys anyway... No, I'd probably die from the radiation.

It probably wipes out my city as well, considering the nearest city to me is only about 20 miles.

Montreal, nuked? Well, I live in Brossard, which is right across the St. Lawrence river. I'd be pretty much fucked, all things considered, there isn't enough distance between it and me for the shockwave to not reach us, and certainly not enough for the rads to be unable to insta-Ghoul us to death.

If I did survive, even after a thorough decontamination, I'd vow never to give children to any woman, ever. I'd be too scared that my now-mutated sperm would give birth to something pathetically horrendous, like a kid born with his liver shifted outside of his chest cavity.

Captcha: Deronte l'Assis.
"Deronte the Seated"? That sounds like a half-assed Fantasy name à la Dark Souls, honestly.

The city I live in shares a border with multiple other cities in the area, picture it like New York's boroughs only on a much smaller scale, like you cross a street and you're in the next city over.

So yeah I'd probably be dead.

Organize the town outside the city into an impromptu militia or help out the nearest military force and prepare for fallout and refugees then prepare to move with whatever goverment force is nearest to receive information on more impending attacks, and if that attack was orchestrated by some terrorist group or a Country. Then from there take whatever action is necessary depending on the answer. God I have played to many post apocalyptic games.

Pembroke nuked? Well, aside from it being a waste of ordinance,Petawawa would ALSO die,not because of the nuke, but because of the crippling loss of population and workforce. Petawawa is a base. It has no reason to exist, besides the military. About half of the base's workforce lives in Pembroke. Pembroke gets atomized,Petawawa turns into a ghost town.

well, if we're going by sheer population, then the loss of Atlanta doesn't really effect me outside of never getting another Vortex burger or attending midnight screenings at the Plaza ever again(which are genuinely sad things). however, considering i live right outside of Columbus Ga, home of Fort Benning(which is pretty much the primary training base for the entire US Army at this point), i die quickly in the initial blast, which incidentally is exactly how i prefer things in a nuclear war that doesn't involve Vaults.

It wasn't. There is no value of any kind in the city nearest to me. However, the military base near to me is a potential target. And if that gets hit, I'm safe from thermal fallout, even from a Tsar Bomb, and probably even safe from immediate radioactive effects. Unfortunately, I'm directly downwind and will probably die from the radioactive ash cloud within a horrifyingly short period of time.

It depends. How big is a city?
To qualify as a city, a town just needs to have a city charter and enough people to run a city hall. (In the U.S. anyway.)

I've no idea how powerful nukes are these days.
The Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs were measured in kilotons. Nowadays they are measured in megatons, if that gives you an idea.

There we go. For the sake of this conversation, that helps a lot. Thanks.

I live in a small city, so its unlikely anyone would survive even a 15kt bomb. Hopefully I would be across the river when it happened. If so, I would first drive to my mom's house to see what her and her husband plan to do. Then I would find out if my homeowner's insurance covers nuclear explosions.
