I have numbers at the end of my name, but it isn't random. Anybody who can't say 111 has bigger issues. But, yeah a whole string of random numbers is annoying, I don't usually mind the Xx thing because I can look past it and they usually don't mean for it to be pronounced. Capital letters are VERY IMPORTANT if it is your name. My gamer tag (OneToxicSpark) may be one long word, but the capitals are used to good effect to separate them.

By the way, Chiefmon, it would help if you would leave an empty line between each rule. That would make it much easier to read.

What the fuck does "MLG" even mean?
Major league gamer?

Anyway, I like these, but I do not take kindly to being told what to do/how to do something, so I'm going to dedicate my next screenname: "xxmaxassassinxx92MLGidfu(khitlern00b" to you.
Same here, did this guy just make this crap up now?

Also put some ****in spaces in your posts so it's easier to read Dammit! I'm not gonna do crap till you do that Chiefmon.
Good idea, I will.

These are pretty much the "unspoken and arbitrary rules" because gamertags and screen names are as arbitrary as words themselves.

Though I do wonder why so many people have "shadow" and "assassin" in their names.

I came close once, my first ever internet SN was "Fuzzy Hitman".

I knew those commandments before you wrote them down.

Good thing I'm not the only one who thinks like this.

Oh, and what about the gamertags like "L4DGod" or "RE5Master"? To me, that's telling everyone "Hey, I suck at Left 4 Dead!"
I actually played gears 2 the other day with someone whos gamertag was something like "xisuckatgearsx" or something similar. I actually don't remember him being all that terrible though.

I was Scorpion7666 for the longest time. Scorpion for the MK character, 7 was my baseball number at the time, and 666 was just adding the the whole Scorpion thing. But I think Smokeydubbs is better. I had to change it in Warhammer Online because it was a vulgar drug reference and also that it was a phrase.

I'm not even that big of a pot smoker, I just dont care to be taken very seriously in video games.

Using your real First and Last name; what is the point of even having a screenname / gamertag then?
I do my first and middle name aprilmarie or AprilMarie. depends on how lazy I was when creating it. Personally, for a while people were alternating caps and lowercase and it hurt my eyes so much.... or the tweens with .username. or whatever fucking name in between two periods....seriously wtf? but anyways mine is that way because I don't remember logins very well so my first and middle name not only helps my friends find me but it helps me to remember something important in the vastness of things I have to remember for other points in my life. And yes, I have actually forgotten my first and middle name before. I go by it at work and at one time had it on a nametag and had to look at said nametag to figure it out.

I hate those damn posers who put X's infront and in the back of their names. Like they own the freaking place!
*facepalm*
You obviously didn't get the joke.

I personally hate it with a passion whenever people stick random numbers at the end of their name.
the only time i stick numbers on the end of something is when some other jerk uses my name and then i use 4203. 03 is the year i graduated high school and 42 is a lucky number and the answer to life the universe and everything. I have stuck by those numbers since 2002 and they've never failed me yet.

I didn't note any missing spaces [EDIT: oh, I see it was changed] and MLG is pretty well established; it seems people going by xXMLGsomethingwhateverXx are most commonly seen in Halo.

You'd be suprised at how many original and good names exist. To me, if you can't put in the effort to search for a proper name then it's just rude to other players. A slightly cursory complaint, but a complaint it is.

Rule: If it took you less time to think of your name than it does to type it, you lose.

Let me tell you about people. People are plagiarizing assholes. My gamertag is Zephirius, it was basically my internet username for the past 3 years, but recently I changed to Zaideros on most things. It took the collective internet a whole 4 weeks to churn out a WoW character with that exact name after I made accounts using it. When I made that name, the only search result on Google listed "Zaid Eros", last name of one guy and first name of another or something. It really fucking pisses me off.

Ugh. Let out some steam there. Felt gooooood. What's with all these idiots called "XxDarkAsSaSsInxX" and crap like that anyway? I mean, really? That's what you want to be known as? Dark this, killer that, l33t here, pwn there. People are retarded.

I'm willing to chalk my own experience up to coincidence, but if it happens the next time I change my username.. Well, to quote Hooch: "If it happens again, I will wait in my SUV, blast me some speed metal, 5.1 surround sound, heavy on the bass.... And someone will be getting. Mowed. Down."

Band names, for the love of god, we don't need to know some 13 year old kid listens to "Atreyu" or something, that's just taking them/you to a whole other level of video game scum.
