I've been Arcadia2000 for 11 years. Because I graduated high school in 2000. Not random, and only because the email of choice had "Arcadia" taken ages ago. 11-years-ages-ago. Other names have been littlebravo, Aelia, Morkeleb, Solara, Sonica (not after the hedgehog)Silmarwen Galathil, IcyDrakee, Kanika Dragonsoul, and Windsong Wistwalker. I think on most accounts I'm doin' alright.

Though I do have this friend that goes by "Rurrurur." It's his Wookie name.

Using your real First and Last name; what is the point of even having a screenname / gamertag then?
Uhm because you sortof gotta have a name for your account? I use my first name and the initials of my last name, cause no matter what I come up with it seams like something fake anyways. And i can't just leave it blank can I? I'm not trying to create an alternate personality for when i'm online, same reason i use my own face as my avatar (though it's currently consealed by a paint-added ninja mask cause of genre wars)

To the OP.

Seeing that you slign arround the word immature as a reason not to use stuff in your gamertag several times i've gotta ask you this: You are aware that many gamers are NOT adults right?
I would rather play with a guy who has say 97 in his name and isn't ashamed of beeing 12 years old than i'd play with someone who goes over the top to hide his age, cause fake maturity is 100 times worse than immaturity.
I feel the need to clarify: I said First AND Last name. Personally I think that there is nothing wrong with using one or the other, but what does it say about your creativity if that is all you use?
Well tbh i never thought of my screen name as a way to show off creativity, if you someone see's their screen name as the pinancle of their creative outlet, then that prolly says a lot about their creativity than mine.
Used to call myselc Ice-T which makes sense cause of my first name (in danish at least) But then i found out that some rapper already sported that name... Then it just felt like a lame rip-off.

What the fuck does "MLG" even mean?
Major league gamer?

Anyway, I like these, but I do not take kindly to being told what to do/how to do something, so I'm going to dedicate my next screenname: "xxmaxassassinxx92MLGidfu(khitlern00b" to you.
That screenname seems like it's alot of typing.

On topic, I don't really think these are necessary, but I really don't care what people name themselves for anything online.

For my GT I just combined my two favorite words at the time "Chump" and "Hole"

This method was suggested to me after I spent about an hour trying to decide on something effective, and I'd like to think getting mowed down by someone known as Chumphole would stick in the mind.
My friend and his whole clan changed their names to infectious diseases.

AIDS killed Johnny!

Stuff like that is funny, for a little while, but after the first ten minutes, IT STOPS!
I know, hence my savings for MS points to change my name

When playing an MMO, don't cite the name of your class in your name.

Stealthrogue
Buffwarrior
Magicmage
Priesthealz

I'm looking at you.

Do you guys think that I should make more commandments for other parts of gaming?
That'd be good; something along the lines of "The Commandments of How To Act in a Survival Horror" or some such.
Good news! I am working on it right now. It should be out within 3 hours.

Do not name yourself after military jargon or organisations (eg: SASsn1per101, commando_man and XXXFUBARXXX), this also applies to your motto or bio on XBL (the number of times I've seen people with 'one shot, one kill' is ridiculous, it's neither cool or original anymore, like the whole trend of sniping).

Do not name yourself after a game or it's protaganist (eg: DOOMGUY666, haloking117, Joeseph_Turok), I can guarentee you that you're not the only person who likes a particular game.

Alas, my Live Gamertag is Marsprobe88, I'd been using the name Marsprobe for a good number years of prior to signing up to Live so, even though the vanilla Marsprobe was taken, I didn't really want to give it up. The 88 tagged on the end is not my year of birth, but rather the number of the bus that goes by my street most frequently. A bit random, but I needed something. :)

I came close once, my first ever internet SN was "Fuzzy Hitman".
Sweet, glorious epic win.

I stick with real words. My usual SN is BurningMan *duh*. Or Ignition.

Luckily, my Gamertag (JustifiedForce) passes all regulations. Suck on that, internet.
Congratulations. I wish that I could give out badges saying "My gamertag won't send me to hell!"

Rule 2: For the love of god, DON'T PUT X's!
It is so annoying having 3/4 of the team named xXUberNukeXx or XGayNinjaX. It does nothing to make you seem cool, all it does is show-off your susceptibility to conformity. Only put X's if they are actually how you spell it, like XrayMaX.

Rule 5: Don't make a reference to a passing fad.
You will be stuck with your gamertag for awhile, so don't make it JonasBros4ever, only to find out that they are all babyeaters. Also, if you make your gamertag Naruto364927 or some other reference to a TV show, make sure that you won't grow sick of it anytime soon.

Rule 19: I think we need to add that if its necessary to add a number, please please don't make it either 69 or 117. Its just so bland, unoriginal and unfunny it hurts... -Beefcakes
In fairness to me, I've had this name for over 10 years. I did this crap back before it was stupid. B-)

For some reason people use things like sniperdude1127342 when SniperDude isn't actually a taken username. People presume their gamertags are so awesome at least five thousand guys have tried to take it before him.

For Instance: I have two friends named Ollie, when my first friend Ollie got Live he immediately presumed his desired name was taken, so he instead put super ollie2323. Then my second friend got Live, and just to piss off the first Ollie set his name as Super Ollie. Now all of my friends presume the first Ollie was copying the second.

My friends are petty, petty people.
