There was a fourth film?
unfortunately.
the crow was played by the kid from terminator 2 and the bad guys were tito ortiz and david boreanez.
don't forget the goddawful travesty that Dennis Hopper contributed to what was already BEYOND garbage. and i'm not being a Brandon Lee/"only the original was worth making" asshole... THAT FILM WAS GARBAGE.

Is this a remake, or is it another interpretation of the source material, like Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was based on the Roald Dahl book directly and was not a remake of the 1970s movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, which just happened to be inspired by the same book?

If it's a remake, I call foul. If it's a new look at the original graphic novel (which was quite different from the movie), then I'm interested.

Either way, I liked 28 Weeks Later, so at least they picked a good director.
Yeah the only way this is even plausible as not a terrible idea is if they make this a new take on the source material, by sticking closer to the original or whatever. But the movie really doesn't need a "remake", its not so old that it looks dated and cheap compared to what they would do now or anything. There's really no way to just make the same movie again and have it be any better, especially with Brandon Lee being so closely associated with the role.

If they put some real effort and thought into it, and had integrity about the whole thing I could actually see a cool movie being made. The plot is simple enough but there's tons of room for awesome imagery and style.

But given the recent trend of pointless remakes that are not any better than the original its hard to have any hope for it. For the most part Hollywood is completely out of ideas and realizes it can still get money out of people by just showing them old movies and telling them they are new.

The original crow is so deeply something I (and I'm pretty sure a lot of people) associate with [a href==http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheNineties]'the 90's'[/a] that seeing it updated would be really weird and seem really off.

Took the words out of my mouth... or letters from my... fingertips? whatever.

Crow 4 was truly the worst sequel ever.
Crow 3 was the biggest disappointment though. Eric Mabius, Fred Ward and Kirsten Dunst. It actually stood a chance of being good, but wasn't.

Crow 2 should have been better until Miramax messed with it:
While the filmmakers and studio originally intended to create a substantially different movie to the first one - out of respect for Brandon Lee - Miramax ordered the movie to be re-edited so as to resemble the earlier one as much as possible. Tim Pope refused and he along with Goyer disowned the movie as it did not represent their vision. The fight scene between Ashe and Kali was re-shot and the film was also edited to make make it faster paced.
Bug Miramax or whoever owns it now to release a true Director's cut. In the mean time, check teh inturnets and see if you can find "The Crow: City of Angles - Second Coming" a fan reconstruction.

Oh goddamnit.

The Crow was far from flawless, but it was still a damned great movie and a respectable swan song for the legendary Brandon Lee.

Leave it alone, you pricks.

The franchise has been brutally raped enough as it is. It doesn't need any more of your shit.

You want to remake a classic movie franchise that went to shit after the first entry? Continue production on that Highlander remake. Just leave The Crow the fuck alone.
Could be worse. They could remake Total Recall.

Wait....

Y isn't he making some other zombie flick?! 28dayslater's rabid humans are the ones i can see causing an actual zombie apocalypse. its the most believable zombie flick to date :p

Screw the Crow, its not relevant anymore. Unless some1 gets killed in its filming... morbid as it may sound. Thats all i remember about the Crow :p

This is far worse than that. Total Recall was a stupid, cheesy, badass Schwarzenegger popcorn flick. The Crow was a legitimately great film and perhaps a milestone of American cinema.

It's like comparing One Piece to Akira.

Great movie? Definately. Milestone of american cinema? Taking it a bit far.

I wasn't really comparing the two. Just making a point that everything is being remade lately.

One that note, mentioning Akira.....

Aw man, that's even worse than when I heard Steven Spielberg is remaking Old Boy with Will Smith as the lead. (I like Will Smith and Steven Spielberg, but that's just wrong.)

If they wanted to do justice to this film, the remake should follow the story arc of the original comic books, not the first film. I want to see a Crow that has a huge scar across his face from a gun shot to the back of the head. I want to see the Ghost Cowboy & not in "deleted scenes" It should also have James O'Barr as co-director, just like Robert Rodriguez did with Frank Miller on Sin City. The movie doesn't need a new writer, the story has been written for a long time. Dab nammit!
