V For Vendetta: 5th of November celebrated by English government by blowing up abandoned buildings.
Woah, have you even SEEN the film?
You've seen the ending I'm presuming where they gather together, houses of parliament get blown up and they complete it with fireworks.
For starters, you said the English government celebrates. They don't celebrate shit, their fucking house gets blown up. And second, the house of Parliament is by no means abandoned.
Next time, I wouldn't joke about endings and purposely misinterpret scenes.

Joke? That was a bad joke, then. Why not just replace the word 'English government' with 'dudes wearing smiling masks' or something similar?

The abandoned building is a fine little joke about what was blown up, but the English government part is just...no.

Harry Potter: The Philosopher's Stone: Kid goes to school, almost gets expelled.
The Road: Man doesn't let his son 'keep' people.

Independence Day: Aliens learn importance of keeping anti-virus software up to date.
Easily the best so far.

A possibly more fun thread would have been "misinterpreting the moral of the story".
