my questions is, is the deveil really such a bad person(thing, entity). even if you dont beleives in the devil in a chistian sence. for the reason that he tourtues the evil forever...
so why do people fear him... he just sounds like a normal bloke who has to deal with arseholes everyday

I'd say - Devil is nothing compared to the humans. Even he can't kill hundreds of thousands of people so fast.

If I was a Christian I'd be a heretic who believes Satan is just another person of the Holy Trinity (Holy Quartet?). If he's an enemy of God, why does God Almighty keep him around?
That or that he's equal to God like in Zoroastrianism.

Why doesn't God kill the man? I mean he is awesome and mighty ain' he?

To be honest he ain't "bad". I mean, compared to God he barely even killed people. I'd rather have the devil in charge rather than "God".

A christian friend of mine, who gets into the whole philosophy thing, says that some reckon Satan is more of a helper than an enemy of God. They think he tempts people so that it's not too easy to follow God's will, sort of to weed out those of little faith

I've always thought of him as a symbol of hard-assed justice, as opposed to one of evil. Afterall, the reason he rebelled in the first place, if I know my stuff, was that he wanted more direct control over Men, whilst God kinda wanted to hang back and let them make own choices. In a way, he wasn't really working against God.

Now, as it stands, God is the seemingly benign dictator who hands out harsh sentences for every person who so much as nibbles on shrimp or doesn't sell off his daughter into slavery. The Devil is the ruthless executioner who dresses in black leather, prances around, and whips their backs and torches their titties.

Somehow, it all makes sense in the end.

Well I think Satan is just a metaphor for the evil in all humans, but then I'm not Christian.

Satan, the devil, whatevr, all the same crap.

People fear it because it is, as is always described, the anti-thesis of God.
Take whatever God is, satan is that inverted.

Hell just take a read of the satanic bible and you'll see it simply

Christian: "if someone hits you, turn and say 'hit the other cheek'"
Satan: "If someone hits you, strike back! Beat the ****er to a pulp!"

Christian: "Give, help, etc."
Satan: "Take, please yourself, etc."

Christian: "life after death"
Satan: "Life now"

God gives, the devil takes. (that isn't to say EVERYTHING that goes bad is the devil, people and the world is naturaly screwed up so there are alot of things that just happen bad because... because)

There isn't enough solid proof that the devil exists so I don't really believe in the devil or hell.
