The "Dragonite Dad" meme made me sad... how is your relationship with your father?

I have a good relationship with my Dad, he royally pisses me off at times and he has some views which I disagree with but he raised me along with my brother and sister by himself since I was 1 years old when my mother left and he has always treated me fairly and often better than I deserve.

This is gonna sound cheesey as hell but im gonna say it anyway: He is probably the best father anyone could hope for and I will be eternally grateful for the way he raised me.

I'd like to punch out anyone who disrespects they're parents for no reason. I don't have parents anymore, and knowing that this happens all the time pisses me off.
Is 'Running off with another woman when I was two, cheating on my mom repeatedly before that with said woman on others and generally treating me like a stereotypical 'Bastard Child'' a good enough reason?
did he leave when you were a child or had he stayed around and then treated you badly?
IF its the either option really i'd just like to ask a quick question (if you dont mind answering), which do you think is worse, a father that leaves at childhood, a father thats abusive or the passing away of a father during the childs childhood? just asking because there seems to be a range of them here and it appears to be a rare opportunity to ask.

OT:this meme is just depressing =_= and for people that dont understand why its dragonite i think its because it is often used for delivering mail so it spends alot of time away... or atleast thats the impression i get from the pokemon movies :)

Random unfunny meme is unfunny...

Personally i have never once seen or spoke to my biological father so the phase "can't miss what you've never had" would apply here

Christ Captcha is being a ***** over 10 refreshes and still no readable text
You know, with those captchas you don't always have to get the text exactly right, just type in what it looks like and it should work.

Same here my mom and dad split when I was a toddler. He died when I was 10 after a heart attack. I was lucky that my grandfather was able to step into the "dad" role. Seeing my grandfather battle cancer now and going to regular chemo and surgery knowing he is staying on earth until he is sure his "baby" has found someone who will treat her right.

*cries*

That made me feel bad since I dont do much with my dad, I just dont agree with his views, and he just annoys the piss outta me. Now I feel like I should be something to fix that.

cool getting ur dad into PvZ. Hope it gives you guys a bit of a common ground to build from.
Yeah, I got almost the whole family in on it. Even my 4 year old brother likes to click around on it and do some stuff. He managed to beat the first 4 levels by himself. As for my dad, there has been a little bit of a connection. Discussing strategies leads to talking about other things in life, so yeah, it's been working out better than I hoped. It just sucks that he doesn't do much for fun, and I thrive on things that are fun. Like I said, opposites.

I have no father, so I can't relate to the meme. It's meant to make the reader be conflicted, though. So the meme wins.

It's excellent. We're good, he's understanding, he's funny, he's tolerant, and he loves computers and cars.

The meme? How could that be funny...

My relationship with my dad has vastly improved since I moved out a few years ago. There's something about our personalities that clash in a serious way and we were at each other's throats almost constantly while I lived at home. The distance means that when we do get to talk we actually have a conversation, rather than an argument.

I'm too much like my dad for us to get along. We have our moments but they usually involve us getting drunk and having laughs bringing up old stories.

Recently we haven't talked in about 2 weeks, like real talks. Yeah... I live with my parents too so its kind of funny. We got in a fight because i wanted to go out and he didn't trust me, its always something. We butt heads he thinks i don't respect him and we don't talk.

Aww, that is sad :\

OT My dad and I get along pretty well; we occasionally get on each other's nerves, but we usually patch things up pretty quickly. (He's also adorable when he tries to apologize for being a dick but can't quite get it out. I can never really stay mad at him.)

My dad was in my life before we knew for sure that he was my dad. When the paternity test came back positive, I stopped seeing him for about 5 years or so at a time. He'd pop back in every once in a while. I kicked him out of my mom's funeral visitation when I was 12, and still hate myself for it. He came back into my life last year through FaceBook, and has been a blessing in my life ever since. I got to spend a week at his house on the other side of the country, and enjoy some herbal remedies for what ails ya. He helps me financially from time to time, and we talk often. Since he wasn't there so much for the "changing of diapers, etc." stage, we can hang like 2 friends, and it's quite fun.

OK, who is making these memes? Seriously, why is it a Pokemon? How is that relevant to the joke? Hell, what exactly IS the joke? Lots of dads have unappreciative offspring, ha ha? I don't get it. And again, WHY THE FUCK IS IT A POKEMON??!!

Also, I have a great relationship with my dad. Watch most of the same TV and stuff.

Wow, that is a sad meme. And it's popular for the same reason that there's a whole crowd of us that can't look someone in the eye when Cat Stevens comes on with Cats in the Cradle.
