So lately I've been thinking of getting a DS. Being unhappy with my PSP and all it's boring games (except for Daxter and Crisis Core), I've been wondering if I should have gotten the DS instead. It seems to have so many fun games, many of them sequels to franchises I love. Golden Sun, KH 358/2, Scribblenauts, the new Pokémon games, and the Mario/Zelda games. So is it worth the money? And also, should I get the DS Lite, or the DSi, cause I don't know the difference?

Get a Dsi, its got a camera and a better screen when compared to the Lite,

The Dsi as you know has wonderful games, and therefore is easy to recommend, also GTA-Chinatown shall keep you amused for weeks to come. :)

So there you go, my two cents that you wanted, hoped it helped

Well I have both a DS and a PSP and personally I prefer the DS the one I have has longer battery life and also I found generally gives me more fun by the end of playing it. Mostly because its just easier to use, all of the games on the PSP I have are mostly infuriating to use with that god damn tiny joystick

Whats the point? you pay more money just so that you can get a camera included? Personally I only buy systems for their games, why pay more money for a stupid little trinket you would eventually forget about anyway?

Do NOT listen to this guy. The camera is piss-poor and just a rip-off to get some money from impatient or suckers.

Get a DS or DS Lite. This way you can also play GBA games on it, not just DS.

Besides, I currently have several great games on it - Megaman Battle Network 5, a GBC/SNES emulator, Ninja Gaiden, The World Ends With You (probably one of the most fun I've had with a jRPG) and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor (awesome RPG/turn-based strategy hybrid). There are also few games you can play in 5-10 minutes, just to skip some time - Bleach: Dark Souls, Chessmaster and tons of casual games.

The screen is not better, it's BIGGER. The resolution is the same, the graphics look actually worse. Nice "help", like advising someone with a GeForce 2 to buy a 24" screen.

A trinket that will be used in future games.

Also, there's the built in storage, the SD-card support, the more powerful CPU and increased RAM (which will be used in future, DSi-exclusive, games), and the expanded online services.

Go with a DS Lite. It has the GBA backwards compatibility, and I happen to prefer its screen to the DSi, which really puts the DS Lite in the lead for me.

And you seem happy with the games on it and you can get DS Lites pretty cheap, go for it.

Like with Endron I have both a PSP and a DS and I agree. The DS just gives overall a lot more fun than the PSP, it's quality of gaming is topnotch and since many of your favorite series is on it I would have to say go for it. Also get a DS Lite since it has a brighter screen, better battery and is smaller. I still have the original DS Phat which is all well and good but for portability and overall comfort DS Lite. I don't say DSi because you can't play GBA games on it and yeah what Endron says there's not a lot more the DSi offers that makes the price worth in IMO

The camera isnt that bad, for the right age bracket it could work well :)

If your bored with a psp then i geuse a ds is worth a try but psp is better than ds mabye get a non handheld console as a ds only has more menial games with less depth than psp games. Or just get little big planet psp and make your own games like i have been doing.
I already have a bunch of non-handheld. I will get a PS3 one day in the future, but right now, Nintendo seems to have more interesting titles, if only on the DS.

Yes but they have already tried to immerse the whole camera along with gameplay thing. With EyeToy for Playstion 2 I bought that and for the first off it was fun but then all of the annoying glitches, if you moved your hand incorrectly it wouldn't respond and in return you would lose.

I get that the DSi is more powerful and has storage capabilities, which isn't a bad thing. I just think that the camera is a pointless little add-on that is there just so the Nintendo people can add more gold to their already huge franchise.

Fuck yes. The DS is full of great games of every non-FPS genre.

Castlevania games, especially.

Umm I haven't bought it for the fact that it seems like a pointless little add-on to the already good DS lite. Also the graphics that are on the DS aren't exactly going to be improved by increasing screen size.

Definitely is worth it as for the DSi/Lite, lite has a GBA slot and the DSI has the camera and no GBA slot, so go from there.

Would you care to elaborate?
Not really. I work at EB games and the DS wall is always mangled to fuck by 4 year old kids and having to clean up a games section that has about ten bazillion games just isn't fun. Most DS games suck giant dick and aren't worth a dime.

Not only Sturgeon's Law, but a non sequitur as well.

OP: I would highly recommend the DS Lite at this stage. The only real advantage that the DSi has is in the DSiware, which I believe is yet to produce any killer apps. What I would advise more though is for you to do some research, find out about good GBA games and upcoming DSi games, and figure out for yourself which you want more. Keep in mind that it's much cheaper to get a GBA exclusively for GBA games than it is to get a DS Lite, find out about some must-have DSi game, and consequently get a DSi just for those games. For that reason, I would recommend the DSi, just from a pragmatic standpoint. It really does depend on whether you consider the loss of a GBA slot worth some upcoming DSi-exclusive software, especially considering how easy it is to play GBA games some other way, and that's a question only you can answer for yourself.

Well, I already have a GBA. (Did I forget to mention that?)
