At the cost of compatability with GBA games, sadly. But I don't know if the OP is into the retro stuff, or an avid Pokemon fan like myself. Personally though, I would get the Lite.

But yeah, the DS is totally worth it.

The DS has the best cost/quality ratio of any game system.

Hell yeah. I have the PsP and I never use it and I don't plan to until Peacewalker. Zelda games, Pokemon games, Mario games, loads of great top down RPGs. What else could you want?

Okay, so here is the honest truth. If you don't have/think your classic gameboy might break soon and you have a lot of games already, then get a DS lite. If you do have a regular gameboy(or would be willing to fork over the whopping $30 extra to get an SP from pretty much any used games store) then the recommendation is to get a DSi. Yeah, the camera gimmick is stupid as hell and you likely wont find a great use for it, but the DSi gets firmware updates, the DSi store, an SD card slot(for music and whatnot), is more powerful than the lite, and in general it's just good to have the version of the gameboy the are currently pushing.

There is one problem though if you are a dirty, dirty pirate. If you have no morals and wish to pirate your games, don't plan on doing so with the DSi. Constant firmware updates make keeping an up-to-date R4 card pretty impossible, or at least costly(you know, costly, like buying the actual games would be, but that's crazy talk right?).

Oh and on the DSi you can switch games without having to turn the system off, which isn't a big deal, it's just something that always bugged me with my lite.

All of this brought to you buy a proud DS lite owner.

What he said.

And I like the DSi's larger screen because it's larger, but not so large that the games would look bad. Ijust like the screen quite much.

If you are a dirty dirty pirate. Then constant firmware updates don't do jack to stop you.
Most of the flashcards work just fine without a huge cost, and most of the cost is time to download updates to said flashcard.
I owned a DS lite and PSP, always go back to the PSP in the end. However get a DSi if you do plan to actually use the DS system. Since you can get GBA games on it .. if your a pirate.

get a DS supercard and load games onto it so you can access them for free and at ease.
aside from that... its a great boredom killer.. (obviously... being portable).

I would get a DS Lite, especially if you like Pokemon. Then, you can still play GBA games and then import your Pokemon from your GBA games like Sapphire into your DS games like Platinum. Also, might I recommend this fascinating little game entitled Professor Layton and the Curious Village? By far, it is the best DS game that I have ever played.

I like the DSi. If you're thinking about it, I say go for it. It has an internet function, downloadable games and apps, two cameras that will be soon incorporated in DSi games. It has bigger screens and shorter battery life than the Lite but I prefer the DSi. Also, one of the things I like a lot is the music player and the Flipnote Studio. The SD card slot is fine but the music format has to be aac or m4a format which kinda sucks but Switch Sound File Converter works like magic. The Flipnote Studio is a free app and it's a lot of fun, especially if you let your friends give it a whirl.

Get it. Probably the best system on the market. Not many other systems still rock the roguelike rpg.

I take mine everywhere I go.

I had a DS lite, upgraded it to a DSI, which I found swell. Of course, if you want to play Gameboy Advance games on it, the DSi doesn't support that. On the other hand, you can install a browser on it for internet use.
You should definitely switch, the PSP doesn't have a lot of games and most of them are the same old sports/shooting/driving games you could get for a regular playstation, except worse.
That's what I always tell my customers anyway

Yup. If you manage to snag yourself one of the DS flashcarts with an SD Card slot in it, it's thousands of dollars of gaming in one small cartridge.

I'd recommend you'd get the DS Lite though, but if you can find a DSi on the cheap, go for it.

Yes but they have already tried to immerse the whole camera along with gameplay thing. With EyeToy for Playstion 2 I bought that and for the first off it was fun but then all of the annoying glitches, if you moved your hand incorrectly it wouldn't respond and in return you would lose.
Well, personally I'm less interested in video capture and motion detection than I am in the various creative ways one could use photos in games.

Take "Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII", where photos were used to synthesize Materia. I'm still holding out for an announcement that the game is getting a DSi port...

There's also the whole "put faces on your avatar" feature that was supposed to be in Perfect Dark all those years ago, but was dropped due to some development issues. This would work very well for games on the DS's tech level, while it would be much harder to implement in more realistic-looking games.

But like I said, if you're planning on getting Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and want to transfer your old pokemon across (or catch 'em all, alternatively), then you'll definitely want the Lite. But that's depending on your own personal tastes.

Well, I already have a GBA. (Did I forget to mention that?)
In that case, I'd say go for the DSi, since all you're giving up is the ability to play games that you can already play with another system. Although, some DS games do have DS-GBA connectivity using that port, or have special peripherals that require the GBA slot. I'd look them up before making a final decision.

I have a DS, one of the big oldschool ones. I bought it at launch and honestly I haven't touched it or had any will to in the last 2 years, and before that I barely played it anyway. I really hate using the touchscreen to play games, and sadly there are a LOT of games on the DS that rely heavily on it. So I wouldn't reccomend it. In fact I'm sort of in the opposite boat as you, as there are a lot of psp games that look pretty good to me.

The Dsi as you know has wonderful games, and therefore is easy to recommend, also GTA-Chinatown shall keep you amused for weeks to come. :)

So there you go, my two cents that you wanted, hoped it helped
Whats the point? you pay more money just so that you can get a camera included? Personally I only buy systems for their games, why pay more money for a stupid little trinket you would eventually forget about anyway?
You could take pictures of...uhh...yourself and send them to random strangers lurking in your neighborhood...
