Please help! My video will not upload! I've tried lowering the file size (70MB) changing formats (avi, mpeg-4) even uploading from a different computer and it just won't work. Time's running out...

When I went to upload it, it took about 30-40 minutes of uninterrupted uploading. The page seemed to do nothing but at the bottom of my web browser it gave me a 'web page loading'. Try and upload it and wait a while.

(editx2)
My footage was in Standard Definition, in a YouTube friendly MP4 format. It weighed in at 110mbs with a running time of 4:57. So my recommendation is maybe uploading it in a similar format under 5 minutes (the five minute thing is a rule as well!).

Thank you! It finally went through. Ugh. I wish I'd heard about the contest sooner. I had to do all the filming yesterday and pulled an all-nighter to edit it. NOW I MUST SLEEP!

The third annual The Escapist Film Festival is no longer accepting submissions but the festival is far from over. Starting this Friday, December 11th, we will be asking you, The Escapist community to vote for your favorite submitted video in our first ever The Escapist Film Festival Viewer's Choice Award!

Voting will last through December 17th and then all of the category winners will be announced on December 18th. Then all of the winners will be displayed for your viewing pleasure.

Don't miss out on a first look at all of the video submissions, this Friday, December 11th. It's then up to you to decide the winner.

On Friday, you decide the very fate of the contestants with a click of your mouse. Choose wisely...

It's getting harder to wait by the hour. I saw some of the submissions from last year, and I'm eager to see what's in store this time.

Ditto. I'm a bit nervous because this was my real first attempt at directing, producing, and trying to seriously act. Video had it's problems. Like no budget, EXTREMELY COLD WEATHER, split shooting days and shorter days, and a deadline that we had to shoot for. Still... I am pretty content about it, and I hope the jokes that I was writing and laughing at awhile ago... are still there.

What confirmation e-mail would that be? Were we supposed to get one with the video submission?

Our video went extremely well. Cutting the content to five minutes was rough but we were extremely pleased with the results (and we think all of you will be too.) Check out my avatar for a sneak peek at our project. :)

The name of my series is Watch! The green-screen turned out fantastically and is actually the best we've done and we've made several videos using it. The dialogue is all very fast courtesy of the 5-minute limit but I think it's pretty good... Very VERY interested in seeing the competition.

Does anyone else who submitted an entry currently make videos for YouTube and such? I have a link to my group's stuff in my profile. I'm interested in seeing the prior work of the entrants because I'm too impatient to wait 1 more day...

I wish I had something to show. However most of the work I have done this past year has been in commercials, nothing amazing. The green screen we used on our production messed up, so we ended up just using it as a backdrop. Wonderful idea, if you want to make green your primary background colour.

Well... I have one film on YouTube I can show. It's a hippy art film I made in College. The first and last thing I ever shot on real film. Shot on Bolex, they are hard to work with since they are hand cranked. Some light hit the undeveloped film so we scrambled to put something together with the footage that was unharmed. This was the end result.

Well, here we go. The version I had to submit is a clipped and shortened version of what I originally intended, and the 5-minute time limit really messed some things up... Even if I were to win (which I highly doubt), I don't think I could do this as a constant job.

We did a media debate show we called 'Kounter'.

(Here is the logo we came up with)

We originally wanted four topics, so we shot four. But we were only able to fit in three. I think the format we created is great for the 5 minute time limit, but it is hard picking between one topic over another.

I think we'll be starting the People's Choice voting tomorrow - I know that they're working on the page now. Still not sure on the final count for the videos, but it's definitely more than last year.

*whew!* I was worried my vid wouldn't show up!
Anyway, my vid is Gaming Weird. This is the first video I've produced. I finally got a cheap RCA to USB for recording game footage and to record video from my REALLY old camera (ten years old, I think). I actually had to duct tape stacked game cases on a stool for a tripod. Somehow it's missing... Lucky I'm good at improvising. Shout out to all the penniless video producers!
And sorry for the low volume (crappy mic), but I leveled it out so don't be afraid to crank it up!
Once I get a good mic (very soon), I'll be posting vids on my site, www.studiorewrite.com (and youtube). Right now it's just my webcomics, though.
PS:Yes, the Pyramid Head trick really works! It's very strange...

This... is an interesting start.
Not to sound pompous, but I REALLY didn't expect things to be going this way from the get-go. Still, we've only just begun.
