I highly recommend a small slow-cooker to anyone who is living on a budget. They're very versatile and can turn really CHEAP food into really yummy dinners.

Fucking Awesome Scrambled Eggs
Crack two eggs in a bowl, scramble.

Add something appropriately fatty. (some mild cheese like Jarlsberg or a bit of olive oil)

Add something appropriately tart. (a dash of balsamic vinegar or the white zinfandel you drank most of last night)

Add anything else that strikes you as something that would be delicious with scrambled eggs. (chili power or a little jalapeno pepper)

Cook the resultant mixture in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Remove when eggs have achieved desired fluffiness.

Enjoy.

Edit:Whoops! Accidentally hit post instead of preview silly me.

Big spread:

4 Packets of any kind of Ramen
2 Giant Cans of Chili
2 Jalapenos
1/2 bag of sharp cheddar shredded

Boil ramen until done, then throw into chili while it's cooking.
Chop up the Jalapenos into chunks then put them in along with the cheese.

Make sure you have a big pot because this makes enough for a couple of days.

Good hot or refrigerated.

Turkish bread pizza

Ingredients:

- One loaf of Turkish bread
- One jar of tomato paste (I suggest that you get one with garlic or spices added)
- *OPTIONAL* One small bottle of barbecue sauce
- One 150g bag of shredded mozzarella

Toppings may vary, but for this example, we will use an all-meat topping.

- One bag shredded leg ham
- 100g minced beef
- One small pepperoni sausage

Instructions:

1: Spread tomato paste evenly over Turkish bread, leaving outer edges bare.

2 *OPTIONAL*: Spread barbecue sauce over the same area.

3: Spread one third of the shredded mozzarella over the Turkish bread.

4: Make small balls from the minced beef, between 0.5 and 1 cm in diameter. Fry these.

5: Thinly slice the pepperoni sausage.

6: Drop the mince balls, shredded ham and pepperoni over the mozzarella.

7: Cover the toppings with the rest of the mozzarella until they are mostly obscured from vision.

8: Place in oven for 15 to 20 minutes at 220 centigrade.

9: Slice and serve.

Oh... ok. That does suck. I can kinda understand now. Here in Aus we have this thing called HECS where the government pays for your uni course and when you get out you pay them back. You have to pay some of it during your time as well but it gives you options at least. Oh well, I'm sure you'll still be able to enjoy your own home cooked recipes.

Awesome chicken pie~

Ingredients:

Pie filling:
- 1 chicken breast
- 1 can tinned champignon mushrooms
- 2 rashers of bacon
- 2 hard boiled eggs

White sauce:
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoons of flour
- 1 cup of milk

Also needed:
- 1 tablespoon of grain mustard
- 2 sheets of puff pastry (frozen stuff is the easiest)

First off, put one sheet of your puff pasty into a pie dish and DO NOT forget to grease the dish first, or else your pie is going nowhere.

Now make up the white sauce. Melt the butter in a large saucepan (you'll be adding other things to this later) over a moderate heat, then add the flour and a pinch of salt. Make sure to cook the mix for about 5 minutes so it doesn't taste like flour.. I learned this the hard way.
Add the milk and keep stirring constantly until it thickens. Add the grain mustard, stir in, then put to one side off the heat.

The filling is simple. Cut the chicken into thin strips, fry until cooked through, then add to the white sauce.
Cut the bacon into strips or squares, take your pick, then fry and add to the sauce.
Peel the eggs, cut them up and oh my gosh add to the sauce.
Drain the mushrooms, rinse with water to stop them going claggy and gross, then add to the rest of the stuff.

Mix it all up and add salt and good black pepper if you think it needs it.. I think it always needs pepper, so do that.

Chuck the filling into the pie dish on the pasty and put the other layer of puff over the top.

Stab the top layer a few times and brush it with some milk to make it go all golden.. Supposedly. I don't know if it works, but I've always been told to do it. Then just put the pie into a medium-to-hot oven, about 180°C (360°F) until it puffs up and goes nice and goldy-brown, should take about.. 10 minutes?

Serve with mashed potato. Enjoy the glory.

..

Sorry it is a bit long, but it really is bloody good.

Heres my other not so simple recipe
Raving Quick Nachos

1) obtain tortilla chips and spread them on a plate use as many as you like
2) obtain a half pound of ground beef, a few diced peppers, some (not the whole bottle) taco sause, and salsa (optional).
3) place all ingredients from 2) in a pan over a medium flame until beef has been browned.
4) after browning spread the meat concoction on the chips, multiple layers are alowed and enchoraged
5) add cheese to the top (and in between layers), it should all melt. If it doesnt, a quick zap in the microwave should do it
6) Top with salsa and if you want a sliced hallepino or two.
7) Eat

I like this recipe, its quick and dirty, and good for a snack.
