Completely unaware of what it is.
*listens to OPs link*
Yeah, I didn't think I'd like it. Damn, that's awful.

I like old dubstep but I prefer dubstyle.

I don't know how to post a link so I'll just say, look up Razrwirez - Align.

It's dubstyle that sounds like machines are in the background aha.

I wouldn't say I hate dubstep, but I don't like it and I definitely don't understand it. Or techno. Or any sort of electronica really.

Very few people understand why I like death metal though, so I'm cool with not liking the whum whum whum music.

I like dubstep, I don't really have a favourite song. I just have it on in the background sometimes. Or if I'm at a club/party, I dance like a crazy mofo.

Ehhhh, it's not bad. I try not to listen to it unless I have to though.
My last roommate only ever listened to dubstep and tended to blast it at high volume so I kinda had to get used to it.

Can't stand it for the most part. I detest Skrillex for a variety of reasons and one of my friends keeps going on about it. Although I don't mind the odd track. Skream are ok usually. Everything else is junk.

I'm from the UK, and here there has recently been a new wave of Music called Dubstep that has swarmed across the country, And i was wondering a few things about it...

Is it known about to escapist members in other countries?
Do you like Dubstep?
If so, What is your favourite Dubstep track?

PS, For anyone who would like a taste of what Dubstep is if they are unaware, this is a good example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZMfhtKa-wo
I would hardly call it new, since it's more than 10 years old.

That said, I love dubstep. Seriously, I fucking love it. The UK really does make the best dance music in the world. There is other good stuff out there, France has the whole electro scene, Germany has good techno, America has house, Netherlands have Trance (obviously, this is all simplified), but the UK has drum and bass, dubstep, garage (although the garage most people have heard is pretty poor), generally all the wonderful genres that have the huge basslines.

Most of my music library is dubstep and drum and bass, and there is nothing more fun than going clubbing when there's a dubstep night on.

Although, a lot of dubstep purists would contend that Skrillex isn't proper dubstep. A more representative track would be something from Skream or similar. I like all sorts though, from Skream to Rusko to Flux Pavillion.

Favourite dubstep track? That's a bloody hard question. There is such a huge variety of stuff even just in dubstep. One of my favourites would be this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-ltsvi4ojM&hd=1 Coki - Spongebob. The bass on it is ridiculous. I also really like Crossover by Magnetic Man, which is a lot more "commercial". Louder by DJ Fresh is a good track.

Skreams remix of La Roux "In for the Kill" was the first real dubstep track I heard, although I didn't really know what it was back then. I properly got into dubstep when my flatmate in my first year of uni really introduced it to me, and I think the first dubstep tune I really loved was Cockney Thug by Rusko, ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Riv8gXlf2xk&feature=related ) which I still really like. At first I only went for the harder edged dancey stuff, but now I listen to a lot of it.

Dubstep is shit. Worse than pop music. Worse than country. Worse than christian music.
And how much of it have you actually listened to to judge it as being shit, huh? Also, christian music isn't exactly a genre, is it? It's just other genres of music with some references to Jesus thrown in. P.O.D are Christian band, but I imagine that's not really what you are referring to.

Just because you don't like it doesn't make it shit. Essentially you are saying that your opinion matters more than other people's.

Ickorus said:
Not my thing, most of it sounds identical to be honest.

Don't even think about denying it, there is at least one example in this thread of someone complaining about saying one band sucks because of it degenerating into 'wubwubwubwub' and then posting a song that does exactly the same thing and acting like it's amazing and totally different.
So one person thinks it all sounds different, and you think it all sounds the same, so the obvious conclusion here is that obviously it is you that is right, not the other person /facepalm.

Talentless garbage. I prefer my music to have some structure. Psytrance all the way!
Talentless garbage you say? Well how about you go out, make a track, and get it to become popular with people who actually know what they are talking about? If it takes no talent everyone could do it, and there would be no bad dubstep songs, because anyone could make it.

OH NO! I don't like something! That obviously means it is objectively shit and should be destroyed. Let the whole world only listen to whatever shit I like.

I just think it's a fad.

Last year I'd never heard of it, and now it's suddenly blown up. The wobble noise you hear really annoys me. I don't like it at all. It's noise, not music. Good sounding noise sometimes, but not music at all.
The first big dubstep song that was in the charts was like 3 or 4 years ago, but it's been around for like 10 years now. People thought drum and bass was a fad, but that was like 21 years ago now, so...

Also, how is it not music? It has a rhythm, it has beats, it has all the essential elements of what I would think made something music. And that's not even going into the fact that music is art and therefore disqualifying something from being music is pretty hard to do since art is subjective.

Okay I think I have quoted enough people here. My point in general is that just because you don't like a genre of music doesn't make it shit or "noise" (technically all music is just noise, but whatever). You have the right to not like certain types of music, I obviously don't like every genre. But just because I don't like something doesn't mean that I think it's shit.

To say that a type of music is shit means you are saying you are better than other people, even if it is in a fairly trivial manner.

I just like EDM in general. I really like dubstep, but it's not the Messiah or anything. It's good listening music, and it's even become somewhat dance-able in the last few years. I still prefer other genres for dancing, ex. electro house, trance, hardstyle (I'm big on dancing to EDM.)

Also, I didn't realize there was this much hate for techno. I just kinda assumed it was ignored. What's up with that?

In other news, I think it's alright. Not quite the life-changing music revolution some make it out to be, but it's nice to hear hip-hop-like sounds and beats being brought to their fullest potential and not being ruined by samey vocals about guns and bitches.

dubstep is one of my favorite genres, and its growing into a pop culture is really exciting me, it was always pretty obscure but now that everyone is listening and new, fresh artists are developing, its just a dream come true

Mexican here, yes I've heard about dubstep and quite frankly... too dumb for me. It's all about the bass and no variety between the tracks. I'll keep my Metal and Rock, thank you!
