I can't believe all the major contenders that are going down in round one. Well, Spain and England. I guess that leaves Brazil and the Netherlands. I don't think Argentina or Uruguay have World Cup wood this year.

England seems pretty much out of the count but France and Mexico are doing great so far.
Though I'm a bit :/ at some of Suarez petty comments, I swear every time England loses to a 2nd/3rd world country in world cup they treat it as some kinda great wrong that's finally been righted.
Can't peeps just have a good game and not be bitches about it afterwards?
France: They got rid of all the players who embarassed the country last world cup by going on strike (though in way I found that so very very typical french xD Yeh lets go on strike at the worst possible moment! I could just imagine the riots if the english team pulled stuff like that) and it seems to be paying off, having less ego in the team works it seems.
Mexico: I'm dimly hopeful that this might be one of Mexicos best performances in a world cup, I'd never have thought they could keep Brazil at bay, now anything seems possible.

Mainly, I'm just saying there will always be some sort of scapegoat when it comes to an event like this. IT shouldn't happen at all but unfortunately, the tabloid papers love to drag things out like this and create a new villain. Remember the whole Cristiano Ronaldo situation at the Euros some odd years ago?
I think England have been a bit unlucky with their games to come out with no points at all. This World Cup has been so much better than their previous performances but they just had tough games and couldn't produce the final bit of magic necessary to get the goals. Still, at least they weren't grinding out goal-less draws against weak teams like they normally do. I don't think there's any shame in going out playing the way they did.
I want the Dutch to do well because they play exciting football and Chile really impressed me so I hope their match-up is a good one. Brazil and Argentina aren't exactly setting the competition alight but the Germans look strong again and there has been a lot of goals this tournament so hopefully we get some good stuff in the round of 16.

Yep. Wink-gate. When Ronaldo winked at his manager and for some reason, it meant he had a personal mission to take down. Objective: Get Rooney anger enough to be sent off. The mission was a success. If Italy loses the next game that'd be awesome. Knocking out Spain, England and Italy in round one would make things much more interesting later on.
Allez les bleus! I haven't seen France do this well since the very first world cup I watched them play in...In which they won the entire thing Am expecting them to go far.
Also as an aside, Italy won me over with Balotelli tweet about if Italy won, he would like a kiss on the cheek from the uk queen. Between that and not diving heavily like I've seen them do in the past, this is one Italy team I don't mind cheering on. Sadly Balotelli won't be getting his kiss but oh well, its the intention that counts.
